SEPTEMBER
LIVING WELL

The month of September brings an end to summer heat as it ushers in autumn. Living Well magazine for September ushers in a varied selection of articles, including how to alleviate the heat of chronic inflammation, which is at the core of so many health issues.

The feasible “5 Ways to Fight Inflammation” can help to avoid the negative side of a natural body response. And AIM Group Builder Donna Thompson shares an inflammation-fighting smoothie recipe along with her testimonial, “Healthy Benefits from AIM.” Donna’s story is a prime example of making the most of life, which just happens to be a topic featured in “ The AIM of Pro-Aging.” Integrating nutrition that works goes hand-in-hand with the pro-aging philosophy.

Whole-food powders such as BarleyLife and CoCoa LeafGreens provide so many health benefits, and focusing on specific beneficial phytonutrients in these concentrated greens inspired “Inside Beta-Carotene.” There are good reasons for getting sufficient amounts of this plant pigment. And then there’s the value of the minerals and herbs in “Multiuse GlucoChrom” as well as a “Fresh Focus on Herbal Release.”

Using AIM nutrition goes beyond health benefits, and “AIM Rewards at a Glance” delves into the financial incentives for Members and Customers. At another glance, “AIM Product Confirmations” provide instant information on product labels and literature for making informed purchases. And being aware of usage recommendations is highlighted in “AIM for Optimal Use” with a look at a few common instructions when taking AIM whole-food powders and supplements.

Unlike puzzling weather events that can arise in the seasonal change to fall, the puzzling crossword in this issue will be enjoyable to solve after making your way through the pages of Living Well magazine.

Inside Beta-Carotene

When you make the lifestyle choice of wholesome nutrition to improve and maintain your health, a long list of terms that includes around 50 dietary carotenoids awaits you, as you dig deeper into the healthy substances present in a particular food or supplement.

One beneficial carotenoid is beta-carotene, a pigment found only in plants. The deeper the color of fruits and vegetables, the more beta-carotene is present. Vegetables such as carrots, kale and spinach are abundant sources of this carotenoid. Plantbased AIM products rich in beta-carotene include BarleyLife, CoCoa LeafGreens and Just Carrots.

Beta-Carotene Uses and Benefits

Beta-carotene is a provitamin that your body uses to convert into vitamin A (retinol), whereas preformed vitamin A comes from animal sources, e.g., dairy products, eggs and organ meats.

As an essential nutrient for your body, vitamin A benefits include support for the health of your eyes, mucous membranes, skin, and immune system by stimulating the activity and production of white blood cells. It is also involved in remodeling of bones, maintaining the cells lining your body’s interior surfaces, and regulating cell growth and division.

Although there is no suggested amount for beta-carotene, the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for vitamin A varies according to age and gender:

Let’s examine the vitamin A amounts on current labels of three AIM products:

Looking at the amount of vitamin A you get from 1 serving of Just Carrots, which has actually increased to 7,140 mcg recently, you could think it’s way too much. Keep in mind that it’s beta-carotene, so whatever your body doesn't use to make vitamin A, this carotenoid is used as a potent antioxidant to reduce oxidative stress caused by free radicals. This makes beta-carotene a protector of organs, tissues, cells and DNA, and a particularly beneficial phytonutrient in plantbased AIM ingredients.

5 Ways to Fight Inflammation

Low-grade chronic inflammation can occur like a silent force in your body even if you are not ill or injured. There are ways to avoid this state of health, and it’s no surprise that nutrition tops the list.

1. Consume InflammationFighting Nutrition

Plant-based nutrition combats inflammation by providing a wide spectrum of defense from antioxidants, healthy carbohydrates, beneficial fats, nutrients, plant protein, phytonutrients, etc.1 Inflammation-fighting food examples include leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds. AIM’s selection of plant-based supplements such as AIMega and BarleyLife boost your intake of inflammation-fighting nutrition.

2. Exercise Habitually

Moving your body through regular exercise improves your overall wellness. Notably, physical activity benefits your immune system by providing inflammation-reducing effects. Research shows that habitual exercise reduces fat mass and the inflammation associated with adipose tissue.2 AIM products such as those in the Sports Pack can nutritionally support your exercise habit.

3. Manage Stress

Inflammatory activity is triggered by psychological stress, negatively affecting your mind and body.3 Being able to manage stress avoids its inflammatory impact. Activities such as tai chi, nature walks and other forms of exercise can lighten stressful times. Taking magnesium-rich hot baths using Mag-nificence CWR can help you unwind and manage stress.

4. Maintain a Healthy Weight

Staying at a healthy body weight is an inflammation-fighting state of being. Remaining overweight promotes chronic inflammation. Losing those extra pounds reduces the level of proinflammatory markers.4 The Weight Loss Pack delivers targeted supplemental nutrition to help lose unwanted weight.

5. Sleep Well

Going to bed each night gives your body a chance to recover from the events of your days. Sleeping poorly has been associated with increased levels of inflammatory biomarkers.5 Achieving regular restful sleep can be supported by the relaxing herbal ingredients in Composure.

Dietary choices that increase inflammation include refined carbo-hydrates, red and processed meats, sugar- and fat-filled snacks, and ultra-processed foods, not to mention drinking alcohol and a smoking habit.

Healthy Benefits from AIM

Shared by Donna Thompson, AIM Group Builder, Blythewood, South Carolina

I turned 71 on June 9; I've been into AIM for 13 years. At yearly checkups, my internist is amazed that my genetic disposition for conditions on both sides of my family has been beaten by my food choices and active lifestyle. She knows AIM is a part of my good health.

My AIM journey began with meeting AIM Star Sapphire Director Leré Robinson, starting on two products that remain a part of my daily regimen. I continue to grow in integrating the health benefits of AIM nutrition.

It's a joy to have health with AIM products and share with others. Packages of products often go home with friends. Our four grands crave the chocolate smoothies and protein bites. Truly our Lord is good; one way is AIM products.

ProPeas, Frame Essentials, PrepZymes, CellSparc 360, AIMega, FloraFood, Composure, Herbal Fiberblend, Proancynol 2000 and more give us daily benefits. I added BarleyLife Xtra Pineapple; it's terrific, though CoCoa LeafGreens will remain a daily staple.

My inflammation-fighting smoothie recipe is one example I use most days, taking only 5 - 10 minutes to prepare. Make your own adjustments; make it an all-fruit smoothie or add a splash of pomegranate juice or Peak Endurance. Be creative; realize afresh the magnificent health benefits of AIM.

Inflammation-Fighting Blueberry Smoothie

Ingredients

• 1 banana (or ½ or 2 depending on number of people)

• 1 tsp (or tbsp) almond butter (or peanut butter)

• 1 heaping teaspoon CoCoa LeafGreens

• 1/2 tsp RediBeets

• 1 heaping scoop ProPeas - more if for more than 2 people

• 1/2 tsp cinnamon

• 1/2 cup coconut or almond milk (or mixture of both)

(I put milk in first and run blender for a minute with the above ingredients before adding the rest to blend.)

• 3/4 cup frozen blueberries (I use frozen or fresh)

• 1 cup ice cubes

Blend thoroughly

Option for sweetness: add 2 seedless dates. You can also slice and freeze banana(s) beforehand for a very ice-cream-like result.

Depending on consistency preference, add more milk or more ice cubes. For creamy texture, add a scoop of plain Greek yogurt or a dash of Kefir milk (my choice) and/or a splash of pomegranate juice.

Testimonials should not be construed as representing results that everyone can achieve. Contributors who submit a published testimonial in Living Well magazine receive a nutritional gift valued at $9.25 US.

5 Testimonial/Recipe

Multiuse GlucoChrom

GlucoChrom is a dietary supplement targeted on helping people maintain blood sugar balance. Its effective formulation combines two trace minerals, chromium and vanadium along with two botanicals, bitter melon and gymnema extract.

All four ingredients provide a helping hand to insulin, a hormone that is vital in the regulation of cell growth, blood sugar levels and energy metabolism. Glucose from dietary intake ends up circulating in the bloodstream, and insulin channels this sugar into cells, where it is used and stored as body energy.

As indicated by the product name GlucoChrom, chromium is the key ingredient as the primary enhancer of insulin. However, as many as 90 percent of American diets are reported to be low in chromium.¹

Chromium is an essential mineral that has been shown to increase the number of insulin receptors and their cellular binding.

Several randomized clinical studies emphasize chromium’s role in normalizing the function of insulin for metabolizing blood sugar, carbohydrates and lipids.² These factors add to the usefulness of GlucoChrom as a dietary supplement.

For anyone who needs to manage their weight through wholesome dietary intake and exercise, taking one capsule of GlucoChrom daily gives the body supplemental help in reducing body fat and increasing lean muscle mass by enhancing insulin’s role in carbohydrate and fat metabolism.

Again, all four GlucoChrom ingredients work well with insulin, which is why AIM created a chromium-based dietary supplement for blood glucose health using three additional natural ingredients.

They’re even better together.

AIM for Optimal Use

Taking AIM products as a source of supplemental nutrition is a healthy way to increase your intake of beneficial nutrients and phytonutrients. It’s like giving your body an extra gift on top of wholesome dietary choices.

How you take a whole-food powder or supplement can optimize its delivery, which is why there are recommendations on product labels. However, you may not be sure why one product should be taken on an empty stomach while another with food. Others can be taken either way. Here are some explanations for different recommendations.

Best Taken on an Empty Stomach

Competition can be a healthy thing depending on the situation. For example, you don’t want to compete with the digestion of solid foods when you take juice powders such as BarleyLife, Just Carrots and RediBeets.

When AIM’s nutritiously dense food powders are blended with water or juice and taken on an empty stomach, the nutrition moves quickly into the small intestine, where the vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, etc. are optimally absorbed into the bloodstream.

Given the energizing effect of the green nutrition in BarleyLife, you may want to take it on an empty stomach first thing in the morning to start your day with an invigorating boost.

Best Taken With Meals

Some supplements should be taken with meals because the ingredients are better absorbed when digested with foods containing healthy fats. It’s a digestive competition that is a win-win situation for certain supplements, including AIMega, BioVivify, CellSparc 360 and Proancynol 2000. Additionally, some supplements are best taken with meals to avoid the possibility of empty stomach discomfort.

Can Be Taken at Any Time

Supplements such as Composure and GarlicAIM work optimally anytime you take them, whether on an empty or a full stomach. Their ingredients are efficiently absorbed with or without the presence of food. Of course, if you take Composure as a sleeping aid, you shouldn’t go to bed on a full stomach.

For optimal use of any AIM product, follow the recommendation on the label. For usage information on the entire lineup, refer to How to Use the AIM Products, available for download from the AIM website and by request with a product order.

Life-Changing, Whole-Food Products

Shared by Michelle Pearson, AIM Director in Cape Town, South Africa

In 2014, I qualified as a health and wellness consultant, helping my clients improve their overall health with dietary recommendations and recipes. In the building where my husband and I run a music school, I have an office for consultations and a café that offers a plant-based menu.

Many years prior to becoming a wellness coach, our daughter had health issues, and I was introduced to The AIM Companies by my upline. Together with a change in diet and making use of BarleyLife and Herbal Fiberblend, her health improved remarkably. By researching healthy living, I recognized the importance of introducing my clients to the AIM products, which helped me build my AIM business. When clients stick to my dietary recommendations, they soon feel well enough.

Additionally, I have used many other AIM products, including AIMega, BioVivify, CranVerry+, FloraFood, GlucoChrom, Just Carrots, Para 90, Peak Endurance and RediBeets. My weight returned to that of my high school days and has remained there for over 10 years.

The product that has been most beneficial to me is AIMega. As healthy as my diet is, I struggle to get my required

amounts of essential fatty acids. Once I started taking AIMega’s balanced 2 to 1 ratio of omega-3 and -6, my dry, red eyes became manageable and my skin, hair and nails improved, not to mention mental clarity.

My husband swears by Herbal Fiberblend. Whenever he feels nauseous or has an upset stomach, he takes it and experiences relief almost immediately. When your bowels are working as they should, energy is boosted, memory improves and you have a lust for life. This is what my family experiences by using AIM nutrition.

Although some clients initially feel that the AIM products are expensive, after experiencing the benefits, they are eager to share the positive results with friends and family. My clients even sponsor a product or two to encourage family and friends to try it. This ultimately results in building and growing their businesses with the added benefit of earning rebate payments, supplementing their income.

We actually halved our cost of living by buying healthy foods. Clients who did the same find it more affordable to buy AIM products. Someone once said, “AIM pays you to get healthy.” It's so true!

The AIM of Pro-Aging

The aging message is loud and clear in today’s world. The fact that we all grow older over the years has steered us away from an anti-aging approach to a proaging attitude in recent times. It makes a lot of sense in the long run.

Let’s face it, trying to appear younger makes us look even older, whether by dressing in younger fashions, using teenage slang or having cosmetic surgery. No judgement for trying, but the results only accentuate the fact that aging cannot be prevented.

Instead of obsessing about the signs of aging that are inevitable as time goes by, pro-aging means accepting our mirrored reflections at any age and aiming to make the most of our lifetimes.

At the same time, healthy lifestyle choices help us to maintain our mirrored images and achieve quality of life. Wholesome nutrition and regular exercise are pro-aging choices that keep us healthy and fit so that we are able to enjoy all that life has to offer.

Using AIM products is a pro-aging choice for a healthy lifestyle, adding high-quality sources of supplemental nutrition that fortify nutritional intake, physical activity and overall health.

Taking BarleyLife for wholebody health, Peak Endurance for increased energy, Proancynol 2000 for antioxidant defense, BioVivify for skin improvements, or other selections from AIM nutrition delivers effective support for feeling better and living well.

Being the best versions of ourselves no matter the number of years is the essence of pro-aging. And AIM has been on the supplemental side of being those best versions for over four decades.

AIM Product Confirmation

AIM’s mission to deliver wholesome, high-quality nutritional products includes obtaining confirmation that ensure unbiased verification of specific product attributes. This process requires passing tests for performance and quality assurance.

AIM product confirmation symbols provide important information at a glance, helping Members and Customers to make purchases that fit their lifestyle choices.

Each AIM product is non-GMO certified, ensuring that every wholefood powder and supplement is free of genetically modified ingredients. This is good to know from the start for anyone looking at the AIM lineup as a healthy choice of supplemental nutrition. And non-GMO is just one certification that Members can use to promote AIM nutrition.

With the heightened interest in plant-based foods, the certified vegan symbol on the majority of the AIM products is also of interest to non-vegans and non-vegetarians. Whenever advancements for encapsulated supplements allow for vegan formulations—most recently for Frame Essentials—AIM will make plant-based moves.

Statistics for 2023 reveal that a significant number of people who do not have health issues in regard to gluten still choose products that are free of this protein found in some grains.¹ For those whose health is negatively impacted, choosing gluten-free every day is essential. Again, the majority of AIM products are tested gluten-free, including the entire BarleyLife family of whole-food powders.

The ever-popular Garden Trio combination of BarleyLife, Just Carrots and RediBeets is certified kosher, indicating adherence to traditional food laws of the Jewish faith. Kosher foods have gone mainstream with the widespread interest in cleanliness, purity and quality, all of which sum up the Garden Trio.

AIM product verifications will continue to be one of the healthy factors behind nutrition that works.

Its removal of pathogenic microorganisms and production of protective lymphocytes supports your immune system in defending you from infection.

Did you know ... ?

The earliest known text on medicinal plants was written in the Sumerian language on a clay tablet determined to be around 5,000 years old, providing significant evidence of herbs being used to manage health issues since ancient times. This early knowledge relied on human instinct and likely trial and error to determine botanical benefits. The long history of traditional use of herbs combined with modern-day knowledge of their beneficial phytonutrients allows for the safe and effective cleansing formulation of Herbal Release.
