Thereafter, the project takes the Masjid Sultan of close proximity as a cultural symbol, generating an axis across the site while complying with surrounding circulations of the area as a general redirection of traffic, through adopting a diagonal form and pathway across the rectangular grid of the region. This therefore shortens physical traverse through the site, while creating a physical axis which frames a view of the mosque from the heart of the site.
1. establishing the dominant axis 2. axis takes on a void form in agreement with circulation 3. denial and reward on the main pathway 4. allocation for multi-residential units 5. added dynamism: diagonal lines breaks the grid 6. dissolving the building skin 7. deposition of programs With the ground circulation predominantly catering to the public realm which bypasses the development, the project further injects supporting programs that can service the public activities further, implementing a series of activities including shops, a performance area by an amphitheatre and a roof garden, adorned with landscapes to improve user experience. In doing this, the project hopes to intertwine activity between the private and public realms, adding spirit and life into the development by introducing intersections between the public circulation and private areas, while keeping appropriate levels of privacy for the residential units by a segregation of levels
As a response, the project imposes a personal interpretation for associating malay culture to its majority population of muslims, simultaneously embracing the resounding architectonics of mosques in Islam towards the malay culture, while in agreement of national objectives in achieving multi-culturalism in a movement for both race and religion at the same time. On the other hand, night activities show a prominent night life through a tabula rasa in the government’s effort to bring new life into the region’s architecture.
In a distinction between solids, lines and pane, the residential units can be seen to congregate on entire storeys so as to give the residents privacy on selected floors so that unit corridors are not intertwined into the public domain. Contrary to the conventional façade, the building skin presents an extrusion of the building structure beyond the planar skin, providing an “in-between space” which not only buffers public programs from the private in the perspective of the residents, but also in representation of a smoother transition between the duality simply by graduating the spaces using the buffer zone created, symbolic for a peaceful presence of the development in its contexts. Lastly, the distribution of planes show the abundance of floor areas on the first, second and roof storeys in the effort to weave public activity around the private, also selectively landscaping areas housing lingering activities, whereas are strategically placed in complementation to the main axis of the general architecture

CAN CRUSHER Responding to an observation of elderly using brute strength crushing cans in the service yards of eating places and school canteens, the can crusher imagines a mechanical automation that can help relieve physical workload for the elderly that take on the cleaning jobs that the younger shun from.

FIBONACCI’S CRYPTEX Taking Influence from the “Fibonacci’s Sequence”, the project takes into inspiration Fibonacci’s methodological approach in decoding the source through a recurring pattern. In a diverging abstraction, formal traits are identified before formalizing the sculptural ensemble. Ultimately, the project seeks for a harmonious composition of the multitude of forces; a whole which also speaks the subtleties of its counterparts.

Adapting from precedence, this project delves upon a metaphorical realm of architecture in exploring the moral rules for creating a physical sculptural entity, spurring a muse of reason sought to be expressed with concisiveness.
