Using the living lab as a chosen program; where research subjects are qualified to actively participate in the feedback and design loop of the research process. In this living lab, research subjects are given biometric sensors in order to test for sleep, productivity and stress levels within controlled indoor conditions. Referencing this into a framework of interactions seen within a knowledge economy, collaboration is split into 3 modes; namely hierarchical interactions, interdisciplinary interactions and trans disciplinary interactions; where the subjects take on the roles of the researcher.

Tesellating these interactive modes against each other, the Synaptum investigates the intersectionality of space and the spatial device of voids and confines which allows and disallows for circulatory and visual connections.

Thereafter, the project takes the Masjid Sultan of close proximity as a cultural symbol, generating an axis across the site while complying with surrounding circulations of the area as a general redirection of traffic, through adopting a diagonal form and pathway across the rectangular grid of the region. This therefore shortens physical traverse through the site, while creating a physical axis which frames a view of the mosque from the heart of the site.

Taking Influence from the “Fibonacci’s Sequence”, the project takes into inspiration Fibonacci’s methodological approach in decoding the source through a recurring pattern.

By abstraction, formal traits are identified before formalizing the sculptural ensemble. The project seeks for a harmonious composition of a whole which also speaks the of its counterparts.

Adapting from precedence, this project delves upon a metaphorical realm of architecture in exploring the logical rules for creating a physical sculptural entity, spurring a muse of reason as what constructs its logical definition
