The Mountaineers volleyball team (10-4, 3-0 Sun Belt) continued their streak of dominance over the Sun Belt Conference on Saturday when they defeated the Texas State Bobcats (8-8, 3-1 Sun Belt) in just three sets. App State came into the match having defeated Troy (5-11, 0-4 Sun Belt) and South Alabama (7-6, 1-2 Sun Belt) in their two previous games and were hoping that a long week of preparation would make a difference. “This was our only game this weekend so we had all week to prepare... we just came out and everything clicked together,” senior outside hitter Emily Corrigan said.

App State saw great games, especially from Corrigan, who compiled 12 points in the match on 11 kills and eight hits. App State also saw good performances out of senior outside hitter Jess Keller with 12.5 points and 11 kills, and junior middle blocker Ashton Gregory with seven points, four kills and three digs. Overall, Ginipro said this was one of the best complete team wins that the Mountaineers have had this season so far. Every player that made an appearance during the game found a way to contribute in some way, despite some challenges for the team. “We’ve got a couple of injuries and we’ve got a stomach bug going around the team, so I told them that if we could play well as a team, this would

be a big win to have with all of our adversity,” head coach Matt Ginipro said. The Mountaineers also pointed to a high-energy crowd as a factor in their victory. “The crowd that we had was phenomenal,” Ginipro said. App State played in front of a record audience of 824 spectators at Holmes Convocation Center. Many App State students attended the match and filled the building with vigorous chanting throughout to make this a true home court advantage. The Mountaineers hope to continue their streak of success when they travel to Louisiana on Friday to match up with the Warhawks of UL Monroe. The match is set for 7:30 p.m.
