welcome Future visions of a Gold Coast Cultural Precinct will be unveiled when the Gallery opens The Reveal exhibition (p.10) on Friday 22 November. From 75 global entries, three designs teams have produced detailed concepts which will be displayed through models, drawings and animations. Developing local talent is one of our top priorities, so come and support the Youth Theatre Project performance of All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane (p.15). Directed by Hugh Parker (QTC’s Kelly), this hilarious comedy is about twenty-somethings deciding whether to travel overseas. Ever wanted to sing opera but don’t have any experience? Come to Opera Queensland’s Open Stage Community Workshop (p.22). You’ll learn the basics of singing, drama and movement, culminating in a performance. Do you have children or grand-children aged 5-10 years? Bring them to a joyous production of Emily Eyefinger (p.23) and help Emily solve the mystery of the Ancient Caves of Tutenkamouse! Finally, as the year draws to a close, don’t miss our popular annual events; Melbourne Cup Luncheon (p.27), The Gatsby Experience Christmas Dinner and Show (p.32) and Forbidden Delights – New Years Eve Dinner and Show (p.38). See you at the show.

ARJ BARKER GO TIME

Arj Barker is undoubtedly Australia’s favourite American comedian. According to Arj, Go Time is both ‘what audiences expect from me AND the last thing they expect from me, which if my calculations are correct, will make for a great show.’

In recent years, he has spent more time in our country than his own and has come to understand our culture perhaps better than we understand it ourselves. His stand-up is both insightful and pointed, like a mind-reading thumbtack, if there was one of those.
