A Note from the Executive Committee Thank you for coming to Artomatic 419!, a program of The Arts Commission. Celebrating its sixth installment, this acclaimed biennial program has seen local creatives and art enthusiasts proudly work for many months to organize, coordinate and promote Northwest Ohio’s most warmly embraced non-juried art showcase. Bicycle Wheel Expo Inspired by Peter Gendron, Curated by Dustin Hostetler
Displayed throughout 1st floor, with works to be auctioned at Brunchomatic 419! on April 19, 11am-1pm. This unique exhibition is an homage to Toledo's oft-overlooked historical role as home of the spoked bicycle wheel and its inventor. Patented by Gendron in 1873, the wire spoke wheel was a vital invention in the growth of both cycling and automobile culture in America. Local and national artists were invited to work with or reimagine the wheel for this exhibition as a nod to both Toledo's past and its future, the cyclical popularity of cycling in our area, and the culture of innovation that makes Toledo such fertile ground for creative life. Enjoy, and ride on.
Featured artists and works include: Keith Greiman "Dream Catcher" Yusuf Lateef "We Live on a Ball" Michelle Duni "Fowl Weather Friends" Jason Vahle “Untitled” Josh Byers "Ripper" Maxwell Holyoke-Hirsch "Bicycle Wheel" Damien Correll “On the Ride Home” Chad Kouri “Untitled” Mathew Hoffman "My Bike Story, Told with Baseball Cards" 60WATTFUNNEL "I Have Come Here to Chew Bubblegum and Kick Ass … and I'm All Out of Bubblegum"
