Warmest regards,

The Elixir of Love is a collaboration between the Hattie Mae Lesley Resident Artists, professional singers at the start of their careers and the teens of I.M. Terrell - all young artists starting their own pivotal journey. Two groups coming together to share hope through imagination. SHOW SYNOPSIS

The Elixir of Love (L’elisir d’amore) is a delightful comic opera in two acts by the Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti. It premiered in 1832 and remains one of the most frequently performed operas today. While it was originally written with an Italian libretto by Felice Romani, it is often performed in English as it will be today.

Nemorino, a poor peasant, is hopelessly in love with the beautiful and wealthy Adina. When a traveling salesman, Dulcamara, arrives in town selling a “magic” elixir that promises to make anyone fall in love, Nemorino eagerly buys it, hoping to win Adina’s heart. The elixir is actually just cheap wine, but Nemorino’s newfound confidence (and some unexpected events) lead Adina to see him in a new light. In the end, they declare their love for each other.
