We are thrilled to present in partnership with Texas Ballet Theater A Tribute to Peace – North Texas Welcomes Kyiv City Ballet. This neo-classical work, choreographed by Ekaterina Kozlova and Ivan Kozlov, comes to Bass Hall as part of a new tour for the Kyiv City Ballet, marking the company’s first performances in the United States and the only tour stop in Texas.

The day before Ukraine was invaded in February, the Kyiv City Ballet unknowingly took one of the last flights out of Kyiv. The company flew to Paris to begin a long-planned tour. They have not returned home. The country of France sheltered them and the company has been performing a range of ballets throughout France, Europe, and now the United States, since the invasion began. What a demonstration of the resilience of the people of Ukraine.

Performing Arts Fort Worth is honored to welcome this incredible, brave company here on the Bass Performance Hall stage along with our presenting partner, Texas Ballet Theater. We recognize the unique time this is in our nation and our world, and we look forward to seeing a celebration of peace and hospitality through the pieces in this program.

The Texas Ballet Theater family welcomes Kyiv City Ballet to North Texas with open arms. We have looked forward to sharing the stage with this resilient company and are excited to celebrate these extraordinary dancers tonight. While we have been brought together by challenging circumstances, this collaboration shows how the universal language of ballet can unite people from all over the world.

The Kyiv City Ballet’s mission is to bring joy to audiences through ballet by bringing exemplary artists to theatres around the world. In the past decade, the company has successfully toured throughout dozens of countries on four continents.

We hope you enjoy the performance!
