Note from
Pastor Mark & Lora Lora and I gave our daughter the name Summer, which might give you a clue as to our favorite season! The days are a little longer and the pace of life is a little slower. Along with baseball and barbecue, It’s a season for connecting with neighbors and friends. I hope you’ll invite your friends— maybe someone who is exploring faith—to an NCC summer small group. Along with meeting new people and having fun, you’ll grow in your faith. Our small groups pastor, Amanda Seidler, has more to say about that on page 5 of this issue. And of course, Summer 2019 will always be a key marker in the life of our church: our new Capitol Hill campus is scheduled to launch at the Navy Yard Car Barn June 30! I know you’re praying with me for every person whose life will be transformed when they walk through these new doors.
Mark Batterson, Lead Pastor Lora Batterson

SUMMER WITHOUT A SMALL GROUP IS LIKE . . . A swimming pool without water
A bicycle without a front tire
A hammock without a tree
A balloon without air
A beach without sunscreen
A kayak without a paddle
A stick without a popsicle
Small groups at NCC are where we wrestle with and discover truth, where we grow in relationship with God, and where we join together to make a difference in our communities. They are where we connect deeply with one another, and where we experience the “life and life abundant” that Jesus promises. Maybe this summer you’ve got a hectic schedule. Maybe you’re only in town for a few months. Maybe you’re traveling so much that there’s no way you can reserve the same night every week. No matter what your summer looks like, we hope you’ll make the choice to prioritize being a part of a small group at NCC. Can you make it work without one? Of course. But don’t miss out on the essential things while you chase the rest. Summer small groups meet throughout the months of June and July and are listed at ncc.re/groups. If you’re not sure where to start, we would love to help. Just contact your campus small group director. Find their contact info at ncc.re/SGDirector. – by Amanda Seidler, NCC Small Groups Pastor

update
The final pieces are falling into place in the event venue at the Navy Yard Car Barn: at the end of May, the sound system, lighting, and LED screens were installed. Our production team and architect are working closely with the sound company to achieve optimum acoustics in this highceilinged, historic space.

Our construction team finishing installation of the new exterior doors on the southwest corner of the Car Barn. These and other doors on this historic building will soon be thrown open to the community—literally and figuratively, physically and spiritually. Our prototype campus will invent new ways for the church and community to cross paths. Permanent ministry space allows us to create new ways to bless our city. Each weekend, the 1,000-seat event venue will be filled with the sounds of worship and prayer.
Our new Capitol Hill campus is scheduled to launch at the Car Barn Sunday, June 30. Stay tuned for further announcements this month from Pastor Mark. You can also subscribe to updates at ncc.re/vision.
