Note from
Pastor Mark & Lora “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5 I’ve had my share of time in the shadows— we all have. I can promise you this: there is always a pathway out of the shadows— always. And it’s always marked by the footsteps of Jesus—always. Please know that as your church, we’re here to help you and be with you. When you’re in the shadows and need help, please first reach out to your campus pastor. You can also receive prayer any weekend at any of our campuses. Pastor Ryan Zempel, who oversees our Pastoral Care department, and Pastor Heidi Scanlon, our Prayer Pastor, have put together a comprehensive list of all the resources we offer to support you as you grow in mental and spiritual wholeness. Find those on page 7. As we walk through this sermon series, “Out of the Shadows,” my prayer is that you’ll know God is present as He guides you into the light, no matter what you are facing.

Can You See Me? Free webinar for parents Sunday, May 19, 8pm Register here: ncc.re/hope
With the rise of suicide and despair in kids and teens, it is easy to feel powerless against an invisible enemy. Join us to consider how God wired our brains to heal and how parents have a super power to heal their kids when they face despair. Our speaker is Will Hutcherson, who works with parents and educators to help heal despair in teens.
Resources for Mental and Spiritual Wholeness Here at NCC, we want to partner with you to dump the lies, cast off the rejection, and let go of false evidence which appears real (fear). We want to partner with you to forgive like Jesus forgave and walk out of past shame. All year long, but during this sermon series in particular, we are inviting you into the process of becoming free. “Don’t wait! You were born to advance the kingdom of heaven in your spheres of influence. It’s hard to do that when the enemy keeps you in the shadows. Half the battle is exposing his lies to the light. It’s time to be fully free!” says Pastor Prayer Heidi Scanlon. Adds Pastor of Recovery and Care Ryan Zempel, “God didn’t intend for you to be bound by guilt, fear, shame, or despair. We’ve assembled the following resources to help you find freedom, healing, victory, and hope in Christ. Ask God for the courage to take that first step and let your journey to recovery begin!”

If you are looking for inner healing and deliverance, a Sozo prayer session might be right for you! Sozo helps get to the root of issues hindering your personal connection with God or others. Sozo is simple, Spirit-led, and effective. It is not counseling, but a time of interactive conversation with God with the help of trained NCC prayer ministers. Sozo appointments are roughly 2 hours and are with trained and experienced 2-person teams. They are completely confidential.
We can provide recommendations of Christian counselors in the DC metro area who address a broad range of issues.

update Phase One is Almost Complete! NCCers of every age have been writing their prayers on the walls and floors of the historic Navy Yard Car Barn for the last several months. And as we write our prayers, God is writing the next chapter in the lives of every person who will walk through the doors.
Pastor Mark is meeting with NCCers at a series of campus touchpoints to hear ideas and suggestions and to answer questions about the Yes & Amen vision and about the Car Barn. More campus touchpoints are scheduled this spring and summer. To share your ideas and ask questions, go to ncc.re/ CarBarnIdeas.

Phase 1 construction continues and should wrap up by this summer. The 1,000-seat event venue will be the home of a new NCC campus as NCC-Echostage and NCC-Barracks Row team up to launch the newest NCC family there. Temporary kids space is in the works as well as we prepare to kick off Phase 2. More info at ncc.re/ vision.
Pray with us over this God-given city block! Pray for the construction process, for God’s timing, for full funding, and for favor with the city.
Thank you for prayerfully considering the part God wants you to play in this vision! Thank you for taking time to think about what will stretch your faith and help you grow in the grace of giving. If you haven’t yet made a commitment, you can do so at ncc.re/yes.
