@TakeOff Festival #takeoff2012

WELCOME MIRANDA THAIN Creative Producer, Theatre Hullabaloo A warm welcome to TakeOff Festival 2012, England’s leading celebration of theatre for young audiences. This year we are delighted to offer a rich and varied programme of performances for our youngest audiences in venues across our region, before welcoming artists, educators, programmers, their families and friends to share a treasure trove of stories, old and new, in the beautiful City of Durham. Be swallowed by a storytelling whale, tickled by some mischievous polar bears, set off on an adventure into the clouds, or tackle some very naughty rabbits, TakeOff Festival reminds us all of the importance of visiting the place where magic happens.

ALISON CLARK-JENKINS Regional Director, Arts Council England “The TakeOff Festival is an important national festival which brings world-class theatre to young audiences. Hosted in our region, TakeOff not only supports artists in the early development of ideas for work for young audiences, but provides them with a platform to show that work and support it where it shows promise. I look forward to seeing the exciting work during the festival in Durham.” LYN GARDNER Theatre Critic, The Guardian “With its rich programme of world class theatre from the UK and beyond, TakeOff launches children and young people on an imaginative journey without limits.” SIMON HENIG Leader of Durham County Council “Durham Council is delighted to welcome this wonderful offer of world-class theatre to the region for the benefit of children, young people and their families across the County”
