How one man turned an unfilled dream to bridge the void of unemployment and recession. Joe is in total control of his world. It’s a pity that it exists only in 1/35 scale and is made of plastic. Meanwhile back in the real world there’s a competition coming up and Joe just wants to be left alone to build his models and win best in show. Unemployment has finally given him the time to enjoy his hobby of sticking bits of plastic together, but unfortunately his wife, his kids, the bank manager, his nemesis Hermann (whose real name is Brian), the checkout girl in Tesco and Angela Merkel have other ideas. Written and performed by Pat McGrath. Directed by Alan King. Produced by Tom Dowling. “McGrath’s wonderful performance does justice to his hilarious, well-paced script.” – Irish Times

Little did they all know, that just over a year later, the three would be planning to embark on a journey as a group in their own right. They bring together the living pedigree and last surviving original member of Ireland’s greatest folk group, with two of Ireland’s finest contemporary voices and song writing forces. The repertoire draws on a wealth of new material by all three, along with some of the greatest Irish songs that ironically influenced the two youngest from an early age.

Magical, unbelievable, and spooky are just a few terms used by the critics to describe the show. One reviewer wrote: “Combining the old fashioned medicine shows with the hyperkinetic energy of a stand-up comedian, he pulls in converts, the curious, and cynics with his act.” He holds the audience spellbound first with his amazing demonstrations of mind reading and levitation, and then with his hilarious use of hypnosis. With his magnetic personality and sharp sense of wit, you won’t know where the time went.
Following on from the recent addition to the Ed Sheeran Croke Park line-up this summer, Bell X1 have sold out this very special acoustic tour! Much of this tour finds them returning to some of Ireland’s most-cherished music venues plus they have added a few new special stops. The acoustic show will feature new songs along with favourites from their much-loved catalogue. Bell X1 embarked on their first acoustic tour in 2008 and over the last seven years through these stripped back performances; they’ve shown off a different, more intimate side. Previous acoustic tours have sold out well in advance.

Lizard is the new EP from O Emperor. Like its predecessor, Vitreous, the EP is an entirely self-recorded affair, these latest recordings coming about over the space of a week’s jamming at the band’s “Big Skin HQ” in Cork City. The EP signals somewhat of a loosening of belt buckles and inhibitions. The reckless nature of the approach is audible throughout and the result is something truly bombastic; an unapologetic embrace of all that is garish and gaudy. “A band which consistently impresses and surprises with each bold step forward.” – Today FM, Paul McLoone

MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL Each of us has a part of our personality that is glam; or striving for success, or dedicated to making our physical world a better place, or to being a loving mate. I think that is one of the reasons that women readily identify with the characters. Seeing them ‘suffer’ the woes of the menopause brings the experience closer to home. It’s been said that Jeanie Linders wrote Menopause The Musical “after a bottle of wine and a hot flush”. Parodying songs has always come naturally to her. She recalls standing in front of her freezer, dressed up in a posh frock as she headed for a big ‘do’, singing “Hot Flush” to Rod Stewart’s hit “Hot Legs”. The musical has been credited with bringing the topics of ageing and menopause to the forefront and Jeanie views it as a great way for women to connect all over the world. But first and foremost it is a celebration of memory loss and music, hot flushes and low tolerance levels, humour and hormones. Please note Niamh Kavanagh will not be performing on Sat 21 November.

The Delorentos acoustic show isn’t any old unplugged sing-a-long. This is an impressive reinterpretation of their songs with new arrangements and an exotic array of instrumentation. The band’s latest single Home Again is taken from the critically-acclaimed Choice Music Prize nominated album Night Becomes Light. The album was described by The Irish Times as “… a fertile, romantically driven concept album with a defined narrative arc that states, often elegantly, that home is where the heart and hearth is.”
