WATERFORD VARIETY THEATRE CLUB Once again the Waterford Variety Theatre Club is staging its annual variety extravaganza at the Theatre Royal Waterford on Thursday 29th, Friday 30th and Saturday 31st March 2012. The Theatre Royal Variety Performance will showcase eight new pieces of comedy the majority from the pen of Tony Corcoran and his cronies, the Bilberry Goats. This team will be assisted in no small way by the creative flair of Adam Wallace who will introduce a new twist to the comedy culture of Waterford. All this before we meet and suffer the pain of co-existence from Konor Halpin (sharing is not his thing). The Variety Performance will also welcome back The ‘Jersey Boys’ featuring Phil Christie (O Emperor) Robert Grant, Niall Mc Pheely and Andrew Grant. This year’s show is directed by Sile Penkert, choreography by Patrica Murphy, musical direction by Wayne Brown, publicity Ger Byrne and over-all production by Michael Grant and Padraig O’Griofa.

CLASSICAL TWIST Vladimir Jablokov returns after his sell out Viennese Christmas show, playing pieces from his wonderful debut Classical Twist, Vladimir will perform his unique fresh hybrid of music. In the world of Classical Twist, Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake sees the swans flying down to Rio for the carnival, the Rolling Stones Paint It Black is resprayed as a red-hot gypsy mazurka and Lynryd Skynrd’s Freebird takes flight into stratospheric regions previously uncharted. THE BRIGHT STREAM The Bolshoi’s production of the Bright Stream has been described as one of the funniest ballets ever seen on stage. A big city dance troupe visits a collective farm to perform for the bemused workers. During the harvest festival on a collective farm in the Russian steppes, a Moscow dance troupe arrives from the big city to entertain the workers, causing all manner of hilarious trouble when they interact formally and informally with the locals in the process.

WATERFORD INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL The Waterford International Music Festival is moving to a new date on the calendar in May 2012. It promises a musical delicacy for fans of light opera and musical productions. WEDDINGS AT THE THEATRE ROYAL The beautifully elegant vestibule at the Theatre Royal is available as a venue for civil wedding ceremonies. If you’re looking for something a little different and want classic simplicity in a venue steeped in heritage then this is the setting for you. We can accommodate wedding ceremonies for up to 120 people in our striking 18th century entrance hall. Surrounded by an eclectic selection of art work from the Waterford City Municipal Art Collection, one of the hidden gems of the Irish art world, you and your significant other can exchange vows with as little or as much formality as you desire. Smaller weddings have the option of holding a champagne reception after the ceremony in the vestibule.
