ROBIN HOOD
DESPERATE TIMES REQUIRE THE BRAVEST PEOPLE For all those in thrall to the legend of Atlantis, the cut and thrust of The Three Musketeers, and The Hunger Games fever, this thrilling adventure promises swashbuckling with a 21st century edge. Robin Hood is a classic story that speaks to our time: an outlaw with a mission to restore justice and equality. Deep in the Forest of Sherwood, a band of lionhearted bandits are gathering, ready to do battle to right the wrongs of a selfish society. As the 18th century Ball Court at Prior Park College is transformed into the Sheriff of Nottingham’s castle, you are invited to join the outlaws and the upper crust for a spectacular production. Sixty young people will be led by the egg’s professional team, to create a dazzling piece of outdoor theatre featuring thrilling sword fights, archery, marauding and adventure.

The Queen’s kniCkers
by Nicholas Allan Adapted by Oliver Birch and John Biddle Directed by Lee Lyford Get your knickers in a twist with this classic comedy for wise young children. What would you do if you lost the Queen’s pants? Dily’s the Queen’s maid is the royal custodian of her highness’s “intimate apparel” otherwise known as the Queen’s knickers. She guards HRH’s smalls as if they were the crown jewels, and on no account should the Queen’s subjects ever be allowed so much as a glimpse. If anyone were to get a sneaky peak, the very fabric of society would collapse. But one day the knickers go missing causing a national state of emergency and a diplomatic incident of catastrophic proportions. The Queen’s Knickers conveys through rip-roaring comedy a simple message of friendship, authority and dependence. A celebration of the garments we all wear but never show, this children’s classic is inventively told by two elastic actors.

One Giant Leap is an impossible attempt to bring the whole universe into a theatre using a tennis ball, a wastepaper basket and a dash of theatrical invention. How far would you run to find freedom?
A funny and touching story about a very tidy boy, a very scruffy dog and a very special friendship...
Free
Kris and Zara share a city but can’t find a place to rest. Haunting memories mix with an uncomfortable present as they keep on running, unable to face the consequences of their pasts – unable to stop or think for even a moment. Free tells the story of two teenagers, brought together through the dynamic discipline of free-running who face life-changing choices when a practice designed for self-improvement and freedom starts to cage them in. Free asks what we’re running away from and if we’re ever willing to stop and confront what we’ve left behind. www.halfmoon.org.uk 7pm £7.50/£6.50 children & students 12
Mucky Pup
The only thing Ben really likes is swimming. He likes the clean, clear water and swimming up and down the pool in his own lane with no-one bothering him. One weekend Ben’s Mum borrows Mrs Grainger’s great big, smelly, scruffy dog, Tolkien. At first it’s a disaster - Tolkien promptly poos on the carpet, puts dog hair everywhere and barks very loudly. But, somehow, a curious friendship is about to be forged…

a new Musical Book and lyrics by Matt harvey Composed by Thomas hewitt Jones Directed by lotte Wakeham 14
This brand new family musical theatre show tells the dark and juicy tale of Rumpelstiltskin, a strange, scheming creature who saves the life of the Miller’s daughter but demands a terrible price in return. The poor Miller’s daughter is a feisty, funny heroine who must overcome the twin adversities of a foolish father and a frankly rather disappointing king, before ultimately matching wits and wills with Rumpelstiltskin himself. Can she guess his name and keep her first-born child? This newly-commissioned fantasy tells of magic, mischief and menace in a thrilling take on the classic Grimm fairy tale. It is a tale of loose tongues, desperate deals and the power of names – all told through deliciously witty lyrics and swinging tunes, accompanied by a multi-tasking three-piece band.

‘A completely compelling piece of theatre’ The Scotsman
Do you want to know why I’m called Titus? It’s a funny story. My dad thinks I’m always making stuff up. Just tell the truth, Titus. Just tell the truth. The truth is much easier to remember than a lie. But Dad, the truth is so boring. A drama about telling big lies and small truths. About pigs that fall in love. About crows that talk. About running away from grief and finding yourself. The story of a 10 year-old boy on the edge – literally on the roof of his school – confronted by a situation that seems hopeless. He can either give up or fight. This darkly funny, fast-paced and powerful one-man show, presented in an informal, conversational style, is the first English translation of one of Europe’s most successful plays for young people.

Each participating school will have a full on-stage rehearsal with our technicians to add sound and light before friends and family enjoy your fantastic festive performance in our auditorium.
An in-school workshop in the lead up to Christmas gives a hands-on chance to explore the traditions of Pantomime with dressing-up and slapstick a-plenty! Then join the participating schools on Friday 9 January for a whistle-stop backstage tour of the Main House, an on-stage workshop with the panto stars and a ticket to see the matinee of Cinderella.

Introduction to Shakespeare KS2&3
Link this active workshop to a production at the egg or a book you are reading in class. With a specific focus on extending vocabulary and enjoying language the session will explore the use of descriptive text, dialogue and character voice.
This workshop for children in years 6-9 introduces Shakespeare in a fun and interactive environment. Using either Romeo & Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream or Macbeth, you will explore the themes of the play and how Shakespeare’s use of language translates into stage action.
Creative Writing Skills KS 2 Learn about how a play uses narrative, settings, characters, atmosphere and dialogue to create its own unique world and story. This workshop will help children to appreciate the richness of descriptive language and begin a journey towards writing play scripts, prose and poetry.
