view Avenue served its last customer. After 18 years, the east Toronto eatery known for its oversized burgers has recently fallen victim to rising rent. "We didn’t want to close but we couldn’t pay them what they wanted," said owner James McKinnon from his familiar
perch at the restaurant’s front cash register. "I knew I’d have to close some day." In recent years, three local establishments, Jilly’s Gentleman’s Club, The Real Jerk, and Tommaso’s Trattoria on Eastern Avenue, have shuttered as the neighbourhood undergoes signif-
