JOANNA LAVOIE jlavoie@insidetoronto.com East-end residents are furious after someone or possibly a group of people lit several books from a “Little Free Library” on Wrenson Road, near Upper Gerrard Street East and Coxwell Avenue, on fire over the weekend. It also appears a number of books – either intact, damaged or with pages ripped out – were also strewn about the yards and gardens of homes in the closeknit neighbourhood. Katharine Harrison, who lives a few streets away, found at least three charred books near Bowmore Road Junior and Senior School Sunday morning. “We were flabbergasted to see this,” said Harrison, who was out for a walk with a friend around 7:30 a.m. “They were attempting to start multiple fires, we think. … It was likely in the middle of the night because neighbours do keep an eye on this area.” Harrison, who serves as a >>>DONATIONS, page 11

SRCHC expanding to The Danforth JOANNA LAVOIE jlavoie@insidetoronto.com Starting this fall, the South Riverdale Community Health Centre (SRCHC) will be bringing some of its programs and
services to The Danforth. Workers are currently in the process of renovating a former Hakim Optical store at 1245 Danforth Ave., just east of Greenwood Avenue, into a new SRCHC satellite location.
For the last five years, the SRCHC (which is headquartered at 955 Queen St. E at Carlaw Avenue) had been using space at Alternatives – The East York Mental Health Counselling Services, which is next door
