Connecting with the community has been the first order of business for 55 Division’s new commander-in-chief Supt. Barbara McLean. Just two months on the job, she’s already attended numerous community events including the Canada Day festivities at Riverdale Park, the Beaches International Jazz Festival and the launch event for this weekend’s Festival of South Asia, to name a few. “I’ve been spending my time trying to get to know the who’s who in our neighbourhoods and I’ve met some fascinating people,” said McLean, who started at 55 Division June 16. “There are a lot of community builders and people who really care about the area and my goal is to continue that investment and engagement. When people know each other they work better together.” McLean replaces Supt. Peter Yuen, who recently transferred to the Divisional Police Support Unit, which takes care of liaison officers, the TAVIS (Toronto Anti-Violence Intervention Strategy) unit and transit officers among other things. >>>PROPERTY, page 11
