Sarah Downey at the helm of TEGH Toronto East General Hospital (TEGH) has a new president and chief executive officer. Sarah Downey, who is presently serving as the executive vice-president, clinical programs at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), will officially take on her new role at the helm of the east-end hospital on April 1. As part of the transition plan, she will start working at TEGH Feb. 23. Downey succeeds Ron Devitt, who has served as the local hospital’s president and CEO since January 2004. “I’m delighted to be joining the TEGH team,” Downey said in a release. “I’ve chosen to raise my family in east Toronto and it’s an honour for me to lead my

Ward 32 Councillor MaryMargaret McMahon has been selected to be part of Mayor John Tory’s inner circle. The Beaches-East York councillor, who has just begun her second and final term, will be serving as a member-at-large. “It’s an extreme honour. I’m looking forward to really having a bird’s eye view,” she said during a recent interview. “I’m happy to represent a
