Anne Babcock, who worked closely with the east-end social service organization’s outgoing leader, Brian Smith, for nearly four decades, has been selected as his successor. WoodGreen’s board of directors made the announcement Monday, Dec. 15.

from the front line to Chief Operating Officer, and now to President, she has unique perspective and incredible insight.” A WoodGreen employee for 36 years, Babcock has been instrumental in helping build the organization from a single location with 40 staff members to a $47 million organization with 34 locations, 650 staff and 1,000 volunteers serving 37,000

Area residents are invited to take part in the DailyFlag for DailyBread Tour of Flags on Saturday, starting at 3 p.m. Those interested in joining the tour of the flags outside 25 homes on Leuty and Violet avenues should meet at the corner of Queen Street East and Leuty Avenue. The free, hour-long tour marks the start of the last week of bidding for the unique, Advent calendar-inspired community art installation, which raises funds and collects nonperishable food for the Daily Bread Food Bank. From Dec. 1 to 25, flags were unveiled each day outside 25 homes on Leuty and Violet avenues. All of the flags, which will be auctioned off online to the highest bidder, are designed and created by participating homeowners. One hundred per cent of the proceeds will be directed to the Daily Bread Food Bank. Last year, $18,482 was raised for the cause. Visit http://dailyflagfordailybread.wordpress.com or email dailyflagfordailybread@gmail. com for more details. People can also visit the Facebook and Twitter pages for more details.
