JOANNA LAVOIE jlavoie@insidetoronto.com Despite months of discussions with the community, the developer of a proposed eight-storey, 110-unit condo development at 1327-1339 Queen St. E. has filed an appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB). O n Tu e s d a y, Ja n . 1 3 , Goodmans Barristers and Solicitors submitted an appeal to the provincial land-use tribunal on behalf of Rockport (Queen and Leslie) Inc. In March, Rockport submitted an application to the City of Toronto’s Planning Department for the site, which is currently ‘mixed commercial residential’ and allows for a range of residential and commercial uses to a maximum height of 12 metres and a maximum total density of two times the lot area. Rockport is seeking to construct a condominium dwelling that is 30.1 metres in height with a density that is 4.6 times of the lot. In its notice of appeal, Goodmans outlined Rockport’s reasons, citing their belief that >>>decision, page 15

New mental health group meets at CC55 Beaches and East York Mental Health Anonymous (BEYMHA), a new group for those experiencing mental health issues, hosts its first meeting Thursday, Jan. 29
from 7 to 8 p.m. at Community Centre 55, 97 Main St. The meeting will include a presentation by a psychologist who will provide information
about how to access services, and offer people an opportunity to share. The new group aims to provide a regular monthly access
point for people who have mental health issues to find help and to meet and support others. Email BEYMHA@outlook.com for more information.
