“Jilly didn’t sleep that night because she was up with a headache,” she said. “Our family doctor was unavailable so we took her to SickKids where they did a battery of tests.” The following morning, the

then 11-year-old woke up with a swollen nose, which doctors discovered was an abscess on her nasal septum, the cartilage wall separating the nostrils. Routine surgery was done to remove the infection. >>>JOGGIN, page 3

While you will find your regular community stories and features in the Beach-Riverdale Mirror, the balance of stories are in support of Healthy and Happy Month at SickKids. Why do we do this? The health of our children is too important. There are far too many signs our children simply aren’t as healthy as we were during our youth. For instance, in a recent SickKids Health and Happy Pulse Check survey, 79 per cent of adults 55 and older think children’s lifestyles are not as healthy today as compared to their own childhood.
