The revitalization of the Toronto Kingston Road YMCA received a shot in the arm thanks to a $500,000 donation from philanthropists Eric Tripp and Maria Smith. The couple announced the donation, which will go toward the cost of a new and improved facility, at the YMCA of Greater Toronto’s annual general meeting on Thursday, Sept. 24. As a Centre of Community, the new Y will consist of 60,000 square feet of space spread over two floors of a new mixed-use building that will also include a condominium development and a CIBC among other features. That building will be built on the site of the former YMCA, which was closed to make way for the new development. >>>NEW, page 8
