Explore the history of Ashbridges Bay - Toronto’s lost coast A free history walk exploring Toronto’s lost coast: the original shoreline of Ashbridges Bay, is set for Saturday. Those interested in taking part in the tour, which will be led by Joanne Doucette and pre-
sented by Leslieville Historical Society and the Toronto Field Naturalists, should meet at the southwest corner of Queen Street East and Broadview Avenue for 10 a.m. Participants will travel along
Broadview to Eastern Avenue over to Logan Avenue, down to the Martin Goodman Trail and over to Northern Dancer Boulevard in the Beach. Along the way, they’ll explore the plants, birds and animals as

The 22-acre Toronto Film Studios site on Eastern Avenue will be redeveloped with the film studio intact, along with offices, retail and a nine-storey hotel, if Toronto Council goes along with recommendations from the Toronto and East York Community Council. Community council approved the plans by SmartCentres to redevelop the site through a development proposal significantly different from SmartCentre’s last attempts to redevelop the site in 2007. Then, the Leslieville community north of the studio raised objections to the massive retail development that was to have included a Walmart — finally prevailing at the Ontario Municipal Board. “There was an epic battle >>>SIX, page 15
