Where other pontoons use inexpensive C-channel cross members, we use 6"-wide hat channels that provide far greater strength without adding weight. What’s more, we secure each one of them to our 6" deck risers with no less than eight bolts for the strongest, most stable platform in the industry. CROSS-CHANNEL CONSTRUCTION:
Provides superior chassis strength. The transom area is supported with up to 3/16" hat-channel construction using twice the number of fixtures as other pontoons. This provides the strength needed to handle the high torque of today’s large engines.

Other manufacturers use C-channel designs which provide less strength than Starcraft’s legendary hat-channel platform, meaning they have a more difficult time withstanding the forces exerted on the pontoon year after year. Further, C-channel designs can suffer from imbalanced weight distribution and may require more cross members to achieve sufficient strength.
