Messengers Of Peace Hero Award

World Scouting has recognised 25 young people of various countries for their outstanding service and contributions towards building peace and promoting sustainable development in their communities. The young leaders were named Messengers of Peace Heroes and they were awarded in a ceremony held on 06th December 2021 virtually under Scouting’s flagship initiative, Messengers of Peace, which is celebrating 10 years of impact around the world. Mafeking Scout Group of Bangalore, Karnataka State Bharat Scouts and Guides, India was recognised this year 2021 by the World Organisation of the Scout Movement as Messengers of Peace Hero at the Global Level for the efforts taken to contribute to the culture of peace and the Messengers of the Peace. Shri Amar B. Chettri, Joint Director of Scouts (Prog. & Trg.) & Messengers of Peace NSO Coordinator of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, National Headquarters, New Delhi is conferred with ‘Messengers of Peace Special Recognition” this year 2021 by the World Organisation of the Scout Movement for his extraordinary contribution in his role as an Adult Leader in supporting young people creating more peaceful, resilient and sustainable communities in the country andtheworldasawhole.

The award presentation ceremony was held virtually on 6th December, 2021. The award ceremony has honoured the young Messengers of Peace Heroes as well as National Scout Organisation and highlighted stories of their unique community-based projects. The award recognises the service and actions of young people across ve categories related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): environment, peace-building, life skills, health and well-being, and COVID-19 response. The Bharat Scouts and Guides is continuously working to enhance Messengers of Peace network in the country to create impact of scouting/guidinginthecommunitywithamission—CreatingBetterIndia.

“MESSENGERSOFPEACEGLOBALNETWORK”UNDERWOSMINITIATIVES

National Level Webinar on “Messengers of Peace Global Network” under WOSM initiatives programme was organized by the Bharat Scouts and Guides National Headquarters on 1st February 2022 via zoom and the same was telecasted live through the ofcial YouTube channel of BSG. Shri P.G.R. Sindhia, Secretary General, President in Council of BSG was the Chief Guest. He highlighted the services rendered by the young people of the BSG. Session on Messengers of Peace initiative was taken by Shri S. Prasanna Srivastava, Director, Organizational Development and Messengers of Peace, WSB – Asia Pacic Support Centre, Ms. Kate C. Aranzamendez, Assistant, Messengers of Peace, WSB – Asia Pacic Support Centre and Shri Madhusudan Avala, WOSM Consultant.
