BSG – DIGITAL SMART GENERATION, SURF SMART 2.0

INTRODUCTION:

The Bharat Scouts and Guides along with the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts started on the Surf Smart 2.0 Generation Digital project. It’s a non-formal education curriculum to support young people to connect safely and positively online. It’s a unique resource which will ensure a generation of Younghavetheknowledgeandskillstoprotectthemselvesandothersonline.

Participants will explore how they can use the internet as a member of Generation Digital; not only to communicate,learnandhavefunbutalsotoraisetheirvoicesasresponsiblecitizensoftheworld.

Bytheendoftheirjourney,theywillhaveearnedtheirSurfSmart2.0badgeandlearnt: v Howtoprotecttheirpersonalinformationandstaysafewhenonline v Howtoconductthemselvespositivelyonline,respectingother'sopinionsandfeelings v Howto#BeTheChangeOnline,byspeakingoutforequaldigitalrightsandaccessforall.

BSG embarked on the journey from October 2021 with Virtual Master Trainers training on the curriculum. There are 5 main sessions and #BETHECHANGEONLINE activity in the curriculum. Around 75 members including Rovers, Rangers and Unit Leaders participated and were trained.

Mr. Rakshit Tandon, Founder, Director, Hacker Shala Head Capacity Building imparted his valued Knowledge and experience.

National Level Virtual workshops were also conducted in regional languages like Malayalam, Hindi, Assamese,Odia,Kannada,BengaliandMarathi.

INTERNATIONALSURFSMART2.0CARNIVAL2022:

As the world came near due to Covid the BSG team facilitated to have a virtual carnival to interact with participants from countries like Tunisia, Madagascar and Nepal where they learnt about being safe digitally as well as understanding the cultural diversity with other countries and made friends. Special goodies were made to motivate the state trainers and the facilitators to reach the grassroot. As soon as the Unlock was announced ofine activities were conducted.
