Did you know that commencement seats will be distributed by lottery this year? That is, all except for the limited number of reserved seats set aside for the auction. With the purchase of the auction graduation package, you will be guaranteed four (4) of the best seats in the house and two (2) reserved parking spaces for the Class of 2021 Commencement Ceremony on Friday, June 4, 2021. The auction reserved seats, in a pod of four (4), will be available on either the first or second rows with tiered pricing. All remaining seats will be distributed by lottery.
Each set of four seats will be available for $3,000 on the front row and $2,500 on the second row. Every effort will be made to place your seats in the direct sight line of your student. The auction seats are limited to five (5) sets on each row.

Imagine a year without the morning madness when your student has to rush out the door to find a parking space at school! Avoid tardies and parking tickets! No need to rush to Parents Night of Classes, the Christmas tree lighting or an athletic event. The lucky recipient of a reserved space for the 2021-2022 academic year will be assigned a parking space that is marked “Reserved Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. when School is in session.” An optional feature includes the recipient’s last name on the reserved sign.
Six spaces will be sold on a first-come basis at a fixed price of $6,250. You will be able to purchase them through the Text2Bid app, starting at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 7. You need to have registered for the 2021 Virtual Auction.

As you know, the COVID-19 crisis caused events and gatherings to be postponed or limited. The 2020 Bishop’s Wine Aficionado Dinner was among those signature events affected by the pandemic. Fortunately, as our community reopens, we have rescheduled the 2020 Wine Aficionado Dinner and combined it into the 2021 Bishop’s Auction. Now scheduled for Saturday, November 13, 2021, 10 lucky couples will join the 10 couples who purchased their seats at the 2020 auction, and all 20 couples will be treated to the wine and culinary experience of a lifetime! Inspired by the iconic cuisine of Baja, California, this year’s Wine Aficionado Dinner offers an unmatched wine and culinary experience that reflects the creative essence of the revolutionary cross-border cuisine Baja Med as defined by our guest chef, Chef Javier Plascencia.
At “¡Dos Californianos - Otra Vez!”, you will enjoy more than 20 different, perfectly aged, world-class wines paired with an exquisite gourmet menu created and personally prepared by award-winning Chef Javier Plascencia of Misión 19, Finca Altozano, and Jazamango. During the meal, you will blind-taste some of the greatest and rarest wines of Baja California against those of our “Norte” California regions, offering a unique opportunity to learn more about what our Southern Baja friends have to offer.
Hosted in Cecilia and Santiago Aguerre’s stunning La Jolla home, you will be inspired by its idyllic setting and Andalusian design, including wooden floors built from discarded Argentinian wine barrels.
Ask anyone who has attended a Bishop’s Wine Aficionado dinner in the past few years and they will tell you it is the single best wine dinner of the year in San Diego! Moreover, it is a delightful evening with other Bishop’s couples and a key “fun-raiser” supporting financial aid for current and future deserving students.
Two seats at the dinner will be sold to the first 10 couples - the price is $7,500 per couple.

HOT WINGS AND BURNING QUESTIONS WITH THE HEAD OF SCHOOL

Forty Bishop’s parents and students will join Head of School Ron Kim on the terrace on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 6 p.m. for “Hot Wings and Burning Questions.”
Bishop’s Senior Cook and spicy food expert Fernando Figueroa-Martinez will prepare hot wings that range from “mild at best” to “hot!hot!hot!” and Head of School Ron Kim’s scoville tolerance will be put to the test with each bite! Up to ten brave attendees will get the opportunity to join Ron in this “test of the taste buds” and eat the spicy wings alongside him.
The rest of the audience will enjoy hot wings (not too spicy) and accoutrement made by Bishop’s Director of Food Services Sara Sweet while watching Mr. Kim try to keep his cool as he answers questions they submit to moderators, Bishop’s Dean of Students Michelle Shea and History and Social Science teacher and alumnus Kamal Assaf ’88.

ONE MONTH VIOLIN INTENSIVE AND VIRTUOSI PROGRAM AT VIOLINESSE STUDIOS

An all-inclusive, month-long experience with San Diego’s premier violin school, Violinesse Violin Studios. Participation is open to students of all ages and levels of experience, and is designed for highly motivated students. The program is exclusive, and limited to 12 students. This item is an incredible opportunity to secure a spot for a talented student.
