Bama Bound I

t was a great spring break for the Girls Softball team who traveled to Alabama for ten days. The girls drove a through the night and successfully arrived in Madison, Alabama before the sun rose Friday morning. The long drive didn’t slow the Hawks down. Even though the girls lost their first game on Friday against Hazel Green High School, AL, they still were satisfied with the way they played. “I was kind of nervous at the beginning because of how good the teams were a couple years ago,” said junior Katie Hunt. Settling down at the hotel and getting a good night’s rest, the Hawks jumped back and played three games on Saturday, April 4, winning two out of the three. “It was a great experience to be able to play teams from other states,” said junior Julia Kluck. “That’s something we don’t normally get the chance to do. Plus, the weather was the cherry on the top.” Saturday afternoon, the girls packed up and were on the road down to Gulf Shores, Alabama. After a long 8 hour drive, the girls finally arrived. “Pulling up to the two-story beach house was the best feeling,” said sophomore Ally Parsons. “Being in a crammed van for 8 hours straight was not my ideal Saturday night.” The Black Hawks had all of Sunday to lay out and relax on the beach. “Being able to have all day at the beach after the long drive was really nice. I was so excited to finally arrive

in Gulf Shores because being in Madison with a tornado warning was not real fun,” said junior Abby Stanish. The girls faced Pensacola Florida High School on Monday, April 6, the same afternoon the Wisconsin Basketball team played in the Championship. After the girls won, they decided to enjoy the rest of the night and watch the game at a local Buffalo Wild Wings. Overall the softball team enjoyed the rest of spring break relaxing and having fun in Gulf Shore’s. The experience was a great bonding opportunity for the team to come together and get to know each other.

Support the Grafton Softball team next Tuesday, May 5 against the Homestead Highlanders at the John Long fields.

Have you ever been sitting in a class thinking about everything but that subject? Have you ever wondered who sits in your seat or who draws on your desk? At GHS there are 750 students, you and (at the most) 6 other students share one seat. Over the course of one day we took a picture of one seat in A7 and in the library to answer the age old question who’s in my seat.
