Attachments: Maine CVS V2.xls; MTO CVS - Maine truck activities V2.pdf Hi Nathan, Per your interests in Maine – Canada trade, I provide the following analysis attached based on the 2006 National Roadside Survey, plus some basic highlights. Analysis of Daily Truck Trips using Maine Roads to Access Canadian Markets Highlights: - Each day, almost 1,700 trucks travel on Maine roads involved in Canada-U.S. trade - 58% or over 700 of all Canada-US trade related truck trips on Maine roads do not have trip ends in Maine

- By year 2026, based on forecast prepared Transport Canada for MTO and MTQ, we anticipate that truck traffic will grow to over 2,500 per day (52% growth) - Each day, $34 million worth of goods travel on Maine roads involved in Canada-U.S. trade - Each day, 26 million kg's of goods travel on Maine roads involved in Canada-U.S. trade - Each day, trucks involved in Canada-Maine trade travel 139,400 km's on Maine roads and 184,000 km's on USA roads - Each day, trucks involved in Canada-Maine trade travel 58,000 km's on New Brunswick roads, 82,000 km's on Quebec roads and 169,400 km's on Canadian roads - For the 1,669 trucks using Maine roads involved in Canada-U.S. trade, tractor & 1 trailer configurations represent 1,428 of the the trucks (86%) and carry 92% of the commodity value worth $31 M, and 88% of the commodity tons - Straight trucks total 199 for a 12% share of the daily trips and carry 5% of the commodity value worth $1.8 M Please let me know if you have any questions. As noted below, I’m interested in recent traffic counts, vehicle classifications and Origin and Destination (O&D) studies for Route 20 and Route 185 in Quebec. I’m also interested in recent traffic counts, vehicle classifications and Origin and Destination (O&D) studies for Route 2 from Fredericton to the border with Quebec. Any data that would provide incite into East-West freight movement on the TransCanada form Ontario to the Maritimes would be helpful. Sorry to be so broad. Hopefully, we can narrow our request as we get further into the study.

The attached documents presents traffic counts and origin/destination information on A-20 between Lévis and the limit with New Brunswick: z The first document present traffic counts and vehicles classifications at four different sites on A-20 (SaintNicolas, Saint-Romuald & Saint-Michel-de-Bellechasse) and Rte 185 (Dégelis, near the limit with New Brunswick). The data is captured by MTQ permanent equipments that weight and classify vehicles. The tables present two sections: the left part contains data related to all type of traffic and the right part presents only truck information. Please note that buses are included in the “tractor-trailor” category. In some cases, there is no data available because traffic counts are too low. z To produce the second document, Kathleen used the 2006-2007 National Roadside Survey database. The table presents the distribution of intercity truck trips having their origin or their destination in the Atlantic Provinces during a “typical week during the fall of 2006 and 2007”. For the purpose of the study Maine Dot is about to begin, we understand that you are looking for truck trip that could use an East-West highway through Maine. Therefore, we tried to extract from the database trips having their origin/destination in the Atlantic and Ontario and the western parts of Québec. If you have difficulties to understand these documents, if you are not familiar with Québec regions, please do not hesitate give us a call: Kathleen and I will be glad to help you. I hope this is what you are looking for. Governor LaPage. Currently, we are in the process of securing a consultant to complete the study. As a first step in the process, I am trying to gather all available traffic data on the TransCanada from LÊvis to the border with New Brunswick. Specifically, I’m interested in recent traffic counts, vehicle classifications and Origin and Destination (O&D) studies for Route 20 and Route 185. Anything you can share with MaineDOT would be very helpful! Thanks Nate Nathan Howard MaineDOT Bureau of Transportation Systems Planning (207) 624-3310 Cell: (207) 557-0942
