RE: MaineDOT Traffic Request

Attachments: counts_nathan howard_april_2012.xls; NRS2006_2007_Atlantic provinces.doc Good morning Nathan, Here’s the information my colleague Kathleen Plourde and I put together to answer your request below. The attached documents presents traffic counts and origin/destination information on A-20 between Lévis and the limit with New Brunswick: z The first document present traffic counts and vehicles classifications at four different sites on A-20 (Saint-Nicolas, Saint-Romuald & Saint-Michel-de-Bellechasse) and Rte 185 (Dégelis, near the limit with New Brunswick). The data is captured by MTQ permanent equipments that weight and classify vehicles. The tables present two sections: the left part contains data related to all type of traffic and the right part presents only truck information. Please note that buses are included in the “tractor-trailor” category. In some cases, there is no data available because traffic counts are too low. z To produce the second document, Kathleen used the 2006-2007 National Roadside Survey database. The table presents the distribution of intercity truck trips having their origin or their destination in the Atlantic Provinces during a “typical week during the fall of 2006 and 2007”. For the purpose of the study Maine Dot is about to begin, we understand that you are looking for truck trip that could use an East-West highway through Maine. Therefore, we tried to extract from the database trips having their origin/destination in the Atlantic and Ontario and the western parts of Québec. If you have difficulties to understand these documents, if you are not familiar with Québec regions, please do not hesitate give us a call: Kathleen and I will be glad to help you. I hope this is what you are looking for. De : Howard, Nathan [mailto:Nathan.Howard@maine.gov] Envoyé : 29 mars 2012 14:51 À : Henry, Dave Objet : MaineDOT Traffic Request Good afternoon, Dave! MaineDOT intends to kickoff a feasibility study for a privately funded and privately operated, eastwest toll highway next month. The study recently passed in the Maine Legislature and is awaiting signature by Governor LaPage. Currently, we are in the process of securing a consultant to complete the study. As a first step in the process, I am trying to gather all available traffic data on the TransCanada from Lévis to the border with New Brunswick. Specifically, I’m interested in recent traffic counts,
