HEX IS MORE Federica Onorato Giuseppe D’Alessandro Lucas Napolitano
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
_modularity _multifunctionality _one mold to cast all the pieces _extruding form _easy identification of the set _indoors and outdoors uses
CONCEPT
The project revolves around a perfect hexagon. The geometry of the hexagon offers different lengths, heights and inclinations, letting us explore several forms, yet correlated. One piece never intersects another, though we can create new pieces juxtaposing two elements casted separately.

FORM STUDY table
Ideal for private spaces can’t take high loads
Different possible openings, giving the idea of a light object
Closed model, stronger. Ideal for public uses (parks, squares, information point)
FORCES STUDY table
all the corners are reinforced, so all the configurations are possible 4kN is a variable force considering a public use

MOLD base
Two removable parts are assembled with the base, creating the space for the mold walls
Space for the mold walls
MOLD external walls
The two modules are joined with pins
The external walls are assembled two by two, creating two simetrical modules
Final form of the external mold
Corner plates reinforce the joints and guarantee no leaks
MOLD internal walls
Pre-made corners guarantee the 7cm thickness in the fragile points
MOLD base internal walls external walls
Steel corner plates reinforce the joints also in the horizontal corners
Casting area, 7cm thick in the thickest parts.
