PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Hello! I would like to take a moment to talk about the Wisconsin Shorthorn Association and its directory. If you're a new breeder, been in this business a long time, or simply a Shorthorn enthusiast, I want to say welcome and thank you for allowing me to serve as your president for the coming year. I think WSA has something for everyone, and we are a huge family with a great group of junior and adult members. It is often said that treasures are found where you least expect them, and I believe that's true. I believe the cattle and the people representing Wisconsin Shorthorn Association are some of those hidden treasures in our great state. Furthermore, I think WSA and the directory represent those valuable treasures. Wisconsin is a big state covering a lot of area. There are many good cattle herds, great production services, and excellent beef processors - all of which you may not be aware are included in this directory. Check out the excellent people of our state! I do not know a breeder who doesn't want to talk Shorthorns or point new members in the right direction. In this age of technology, check out the websites or Facebook pages of association members and of the groups advertised in this directory. Send them a text or email, contact them on messenger, or - my old standby - pick up the phone and give them a call. Maybe you'll find one of those treasures right in your backyard! WSA SCHOLARSHIP The Wisconsin Shorthorn Association offers scholarships annually to students beginning or continuing their education in a post-secondary program. Applicants must be paid members of WJSA, pursue a post-secondary degree, show cattle above the county level, and have a satisfactory scholastic record.

Kelsey is the 19-year-old daughter of Scott and Jill Kuehni. She is a 2021 graduate of Stanley-Boyd High School and currently attends the University of Wisconsin at River Falls, majoring in Animal Science - Meat Animal Management.

FRIEND OF WJSA Each year, the WJSA Board selects an individual or group of individuals who have gone above and beyond for its organization to receive the annual Friend of WJSA award. It is our honor to announce this year's recipients.
Each year, Becky provides flowers for our backdrop and helps with setting up everything at the state show. She plays a huge role in helping organize everything for junior nationals, including contests and the state basket. She also assists the WSA Lassies with their duties throughout the year.
THE OLSEN FAMILY
Olsen Family Shorthorns Berlin, Wisconsin Dave and Becky Olsen, along with their daughters Hannah and Catie, reside in Berlin, Wisconsin and have been longtime members and supporters of both WSA and WJSA. The Olsen family has traveled all around the state and country showing Shorthorns at junior nationals, state fairs, county fairs, and jackpot shows. In 2018, Dave was elected to the WSA Board and is currently serving his second consecutive term as a director. In this role, he spends many hours helping plan WSA events, such as the state show, pasture walk, and farm technology days. We appreciate all of the hard work he puts in to making sure these events are a success.
Hannah graduated UW-River Falls with her Bachelors degree in December 2019 and is currently working on her Masters degree. While Hannah was a junior, she was actively involved with the WJSA Board and Lassie program, which allowed her the opportunity to become the National Alternate Lassie Queen in 2017. Currently, she is one of the junior coadvisors and the Lassie advisor and works hard to make sure all the junior events are organized. Catie is a 2021 graduate of Berlin High School and is currently one of the Wisconsin Lassie Princesses. Catie actively participates in many Shorthorn related activities thorughout the year and shows at the local, state, and national levels. She is always willing to lend a helping hand and is a great role model for younger WJSA members. The entire Olsen family has a huge passion for the Shorthorn breed, and they work hard to make sure WSA and WJSA events are run smoothly.
