FUNDRAISING

VALE JOHN POWELL

On Sunday 13TH September, the Sandstone Point Hotel held their

Leona back from fundraising and getting back into the swing of things. We would like to thank them from all the VMR Family we have really missed them, and we are so pleased see them back on deck.

It is with much sadness that we advise the passing of VMR Bribie member Edward "John" Powell. John passed away Thursday morning 3rd September 2020 at home on Bribie Island, aged 84 years old. John was a member of VMR Bribie for 11 years. He owned a 5.9m catamaran and was a keen fisherman. John and his wife Val would attend many of our social functions. A service was held to celebrate his life at 3pm Friday 11th September 2020 at our Great Northern Garden of Remembrance, Tallowwood Drive and Deception Bay.

Training does not stop at VMR Bribie, Day or Night. The bay looks totally different at night, and getting to know and identify channel markers and be able to read the lead lights going in and out of different ports is vitally important when rescuers are called upon to perform their roles at night. The crew last night was led by Commodore Liz Radajewski, and Skipper Allan Tranter, crewmembers on board were Ian Nesbitt, Denise Inggs, Paul Gilmore and Doug Lythgo
