Bachelorette Party Before you get wrapped up and bogged down by planning all the details of your big day, you need to let loose and have a memorable bachelorette party. After the engagement, you certainly deserve it! Your bachelorette party can be one of the best and most memorable parties, days, or nights of your life, but planning one can be stressful. Here are our quick tips for planning your bachelorette party. Who to Invite? Invite your bridesmaids and your closest friends. It’s that simple. There’s no need to invite friends of friends, cousins, or frenemies. You don’t want anyone on board that has the potential to ruin your night or bring your spirits down. Keep the group small so that it will be easier to please everyone, and make sure that the group will be agreeable. Where to Go? In the movies, bachelorette parties usually involve a trip to Las Vegas, a lot of time gambling, and a lot of money spent on champagne and strippers. In real life, that doesn’t have to be the case. A trip to Vegas would be fun and exciting, but if you’re not a party girl, suggest a spa day, or a cozy cottage weekend. The possibilities are endless. P5 theBridalGuide.ca
What to Do? If you want to party it up, plan to have hotel rooms for guests, carve out a budget for getting everyone to and from places safely (like a limo), make sure you make dinner and club reservations, etc. If you have a spa day, have the women select the treatments they want ahead of time so the spa can be properly staffed.
If you’re going to host a unique night at home, try having a beauty technician come in and paint nail art, apply eyelash extensions or have a mixologist come in and host a classy night of drink mixing or help create a signature cocktail for the reception. Whichever fun idea you choose, make sure one of your attendees brings a good camera to capture the moments.

Entertainment FOR GUESTS
No one likes to attend-much less hosta wedding with dull periods, speeches that drag on, a scattered reception, etc. While it’s nearly impossible to ensure that every single guest has an amazing time, you can sure try! Designating a chunk of your wedding budget to entertainment for guests (and yourselves) will go a long way. An entertained guest is a happy one, and that makes for an amazing wedding reception. Here are some entertainment suggestions to consider for your wedding. 1. A good DJ and welcoming dance floor. A DJ accommodates everyone’s music tastes better than a band does, simply because they are able to play a very wide range of music. They can easily change tempo, take nearly any request, read a crowd, and change tracks quickly. A Good DJ is sure to get the crowd dancing all night! Make sure the dance floor is obvious and inviting. You can make it so with lighting, decorations, and signage. 2. A photo booth with fun props. A new trend in wedding entertainment is photo booths with fun props. Many modern weddings provide quirky props like top hats, fake mustaches, feather boas, and more to guests who enter a photo booth and make silly photos. The photos can then be printed and provided to guests, or left to the couple as an album. 3. Paper lanterns. If you’re having a wedding reception outdoors and in an open place, consider lighting paper lanterns. The guests can each have a

giant paper lantern to light and send off into the sky. As they float away, guests make wishes. What’s more? Imagine the photo opportunity of the sky full of wedding lanterns. 4. A caricaturist. An off-beat type of entertainment is a single entertainer. Someone like a caricaturist can roam your reception and provide caricatures for guests as they wait to be served, in between speeches, while the dancing is happening, etc. Other entertainers to consider are comedians, magicians, or themed impersonators. 5. A “Build Your Own” food station. Food can be fun! By adding a “Build Your Own” food station at your reception, the act of preparing and eating can be very entertaining. There are a number of stations you can host. Think “Build Your Own” ice cream sundaes, candy bags, mashed potato martinis, slushies, and more. 6. An open bar. This one explains itself. An extra tip for a wedding bar is to create a couple of signature cocktails for the night. An open bar virtually guarantees that guests will let some inhibitions loose and have a great time no matter what other forms of entertainment you provide. Just make sure everyone drinks responsibly.

Wedding Night?
We’ve all seen the romantic comedies where a couple’s wedding night and jaunt to the bedroom is picture perfect. Much like everything else in the movies, that may only exist in the movies. In fact, a recent study conducted in the United Kingdom suggests that reality is much different for newlyweds. A majority of 52 percent of newlyweds say they didn’t have sex on their wedding night. Seventeen percent waited more than three days after their wedding. This is according to a survey of 2,128 people by the U.K. website Voucher Codes Pro. Do you believe the numbers? We bet if you aren’t yet married you don’t; and if you are already married, you do. According to the poll, the most common reason for a newlywed couple to not consumate their marriage is consuming too much alcohol. The runner up was exhaustion. We asked real couples about their wedding nights, and these results were collected: “My wedding night was supposed to be the kick start to a fairy tail honeymoon. Unfortunately, it was the kick start to a night of being…um…sick. I had a bit too much to drink. Let’s just say I was in no shape to consummate my marriage!” Laura McDonald “My husband and I are passionate people. We can never take a break from being passionate—even when we fight. DON’Ts: GOING DIGITAL FOR YOUR WEDDING
Getting married in our tech-obsessed world means putting your wedding online. Features like the Bridal Guide’s wedding registry and Pinterest are here to help; while platforms like Facebook and Instagram allow you to share your wedded bliss. When it comes to sharing with social media, there are some pointers and big no-no’s that everyone should know. Here are the Bridal Guide’s dos and don’ts of social media. Facebook and Twitter Do Write statuses and tweets before the wedding – but with a limit. Don’t reveal too much or spoil any wedding day surprises online. Do things like tagging yourself at the nail salon with the bridesmaids and get your guests excited. After the wedding, there’s a time gap before you get your professional wedding photo selects, so it’s nice to share some candid wedding photos on Facebook and Twitter. Don’t Post negative remarks about the wedding. It’s okay to be flustered and overwhelmed when planning a wedding, but you don’t need to broadcast it. Talk with close friends and family about issues you’re having, just don’t share them with everyone. Doing that will only bring down the excitement of the wedding and make guests weary of what drama is to come.

Instagram Do Create a unique hashtag that all your guests can use when tagging photos during the wedding. (This also applies to Facebook and Twitter.) Once guests are aware of the hashtag all of their photos can be found in one place when you search the hashtag. Everyone with an Instagram account can see the wedding from different guests’ perspectives. It’s so practical! Don’t Upload too many photos. We love Instagram, but we get annoyed when users post multiple (almost identical) photos of the same subject matter. That being said, try not to take more than one photo of each wedding element. No one needs to see 10 photos of the same piece of cake. Pinterest Do Create a secret wedding board. Pinterest is practically made for brides, but you don’t want all your friends who follow you to know the exciting details and dress and decorations you’ll have at your wedding before the event. If you make all the pins that you will use private, your guests will be in awe when they come to the wedding and see everything for the first time. Don’t Get hung up on DIY projects. Pinterest is a slippery slope. First, you spending hours pinning things. Then, the next thing you know you’re crying because the craft you spent three hours on isn’t working and won’t be ready for the wedding. Keep things simple and true to what you have time for and what you’re capable of doing on your own.

On October 27, 2013, double lung transplant recipient, Keith Childerhose, married his fiancé, Sarah Taylor. Their beautiful fall wedding was like no other wedding in one outstanding way. Keith and Sarah’s wedding was completely free! The couple simply entered a contest developed by Wedding Saviours and received their big day free of any charge. The “pay it forward” themed contest was launched to help couples in unique situations have a fairytale wedding. In the Greater Toronto Area, members of the Wedding Saviours organization
divided into teams and used their networks to recruit a number of generous wedding vendors who are able to make weddings like Keith and Sarah’s happen. Each vendor donated their product, service, or time. For Keith and Sarah’s wedding, Jane Dayus-Hinch’s team became a team of 81 vendors in total. The wedding created by Jane’s team reached a total value of over $80,000. So, you want to write your own vows? The task can seem daunting, but writing your own vows—properly—can make your wedding ceremony as special as possible. Personal vows are a glimpse into the reality of your relationship and your unique take on love. Not sure where to start? Don’t worry, the Bridal Guide has a quick and easy 5-step guide to writing your own vows.
Step 1: Do you want to write them together or separately? If you write them together, you can collaborate to make them cohesive. If you write them separately, you can surprise your partner and get a genuine reaction at the ceremony. (We vote for the latter option!) If you decide to write them independently, perhaps you could come up with a rough structure together and fill in your own blanks. Step 2: Agree on a time length or word count for both of your vows. This isn’t a competition! Your ceremony will flow smoothly if your vows are roughly the same length. Neither one

of you will feel bad for having written too much or too little—and remember, it’s about quality, not quantity. Step 3: Create a rough draft that answers some of these questions: • How/when did you meet or fall in love? • What do you hope for in this marriage? • What do you promise to bring to this marriage? • What makes your partner your true love? • Will anything change about your relationship with marriage/ in the future? How will you embrace that? Step 4: Add personal touches; allude to your partners interests or habits; make a quick inside joke, etc. Adding these little personal accents will make your vows touching, heart-warming, and possibly even a little funny— and that’s a good thing! This is the step that will let all of your guests have a peek at your true love and special bond. Step 5: Practice and memorize! Memorizing your vows will be a better choice than reading them from a cue card. This will allow you to look your partner in the eyes, have a full emotional moment, and take in everything for an amazing memory. If you’re worried about fumbling over some words or forgetting a sentence, just make sure you practice reciting them. Remember to mean what you say, speak from the heart, and breathe. Good luck!

Use this checklist to help you dateline and organise the many time sensitive details involved in planning your wedding day. 2-3 WEEKS PRIOR Confirm final numbers with Wedding Reception venue / Caterer and pay final amount and give a copy of food requirements (gluten free, vegetarian, childs etc) q Confirm timing details and final payments with ALL suppliers and vendors. Also confirm Officiant, florist, photographer, caterer before the rehearsal date q Arrange to change your name on official documents. 7 DAYS PRIOR q Attend wedding rehearsal with Bridal party and family members. - Take all processional and recessional music and music to be played during the signing (on DVD’s) and player and operator. - Take copies of ‘Order of Ceremony / Day’ for guests - Elect a Meeter, Greater and two Seaters to welcome guests, hand out booklets, hymn books etc and to seat first three rows. - Finalise seating in first three rows of where ALL family members are to be seated. (Any VIP’s.Disabled guests, children) - Where the Bridal party are to stand – or to be seated in second row Confirm witnesses and where the signing will take place - Take fake bouquet and hand over when required. Take ring cushion. - Attend rehearsal dinner – where appropriate toasts made q Pack for honeymoon. q Attend all appointments for facial, pedicure, manicure, massage etc q Make a wedding day time schedule / itinerary and make copies for everyone who needs copy. - Receive any apologies from guests who are unable to attend. Cards should be received for the Best Man to read at the end of his speech (from anyone who was officially invited but could not attend) - Collect Bridegroom / Fathers / Menswear. TRY on before collecting. Arrange who to deliver back AFTER the wedding. - Deliver placecards, seating chart, gifts. Bonbonieres, cake knife etc. to Wedding Reception venue
