STEP INTO THE BRIDAL BOUDOIR
Bride, Kirra, wanted to give her new hubby a unique and thrilling gift for their wedding. Here she shares her experience having a Bridal Boudoir photo shoot with photographer, Carissa Cross, from Elk & Fir.
Have you ever done anything like this before? No I’ve never done anything like this before and I had no idea what the experience was going to be like. But I had the idea of what sort of gift I wanted to give my fiancé, and I wanted it to be unique and lasting.
Tell us about how you prepared yourself to take part in the shoot. Carissa was the best part of the experience. In our pre meeting, she was able to show me props, robes and clothing ideas, and options that suited what I wanted. I left the face-toface meeting with a feeling of confidence in what the experience was going to be like, and I knew exactly what I needed to do to prepare. She gave me an abundance of boudoir guidance, including her Elk and Fir Boudoir Prep Guide (magazine) with all the ‘need to know’.
What was the experience like on the day? I remember feeling nervous as the day approached, but as soon as I was in the room, it was quite comfortable. From the hair and make up to the actual photo shoot, everything felt relaxed and, best of all, I really felt so beautiful! At no stage was I uncomfortable or rushed. I still can’t pick my favourite photos. Now it's all done, are you glad you did it? I am extremely glad I have had the experience and even more grateful it was with Carissa. It lifted my confidence, and I know that I will always be able to remember what I looked like and felt like at that special time of my life.
What was your husband's reaction? Was it a surprise? It was a huge surprise! He had been trying to guess what his gift was for months before I got the photos and the book back, and his reaction was priceless. He had not ever received a gift like it before and he was speechless! I am really glad that it’ll be something that he will be able to enjoy over and over again for years to come.
What would you say to other brides considering doing a boudoir shoot? I would say that I highly recommend doing it. I think that it is a unique gift that captures you in that part of your life and it can be enjoyed for years to come. It’s something that you can share between the two of you that is special and intimate.
