CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF BRINGING THE BEST IN PERFORMING ARTS TO SANTA MONICA
IT’S OUR 10TH SEASON AT THE BROAD STAGE. WELCOME TO THE CELEBRATION. As we enter this milestone season, we truly have much to celebrate. Since its inception, The Broad Stage has been fortunate to present a vast array of artists, both emerging and established. Our dedication to creating an inclusive space has never been greater, and we proudly present a season where we trust there is something for everyone. Theatre is back in a big way, with modern takes on the classics, unconventional staging and immersive experiences. Small Mouth Sounds and Bedlam’s Hamlet and Saint Joan reveal story and character as never seen before on our stage. Impro Theatre takes on ten genres over one season. And we kick off summer 2017 with the West Coast premiere of the glorious musical Born for This. One of the world’s most sought-after tap dancers, Michelle Dorrance, joins forces with Dormshia Sumbry-Edwards and Indian Kathak dancers Rena Mehta and Rachna Nivas for the genre-defying collaboration, SPEAK. We are thrilled to see The Broad Stage debut of Dance Theatre of Harlem. Following a huge success with last season’s launch into the world of visual art, we once again partner with Sotheby’s Institute of Art – Los Angeles for two installments of ARTISTS TALK. Plus, we will feature new partnerships with literary stalwarts The Moth and Red Hen Press, among others. This season we expand our commitment to the arts and to you in creating a space where we can examine our differences and further explore that which binds us together. We hope you will join us in this endeavor. We look forward to sharing this very special occasion with you.
