843 DERRYDOWN WAY | Winnona Park Decatur, GA 30030 WHAT I LOVE ABOUT 843 DERRYDOWN WAY I love living here because the house is full of light. The front of the house gets direct light all day while the back gets afternoon light, but you can always find a shady spot in the yard. This is a solid little house that is very energy efficient. The upstairs and downstairs are soundproof, so it gives us lots of privacy. The house has friendly, cozy energy that guests are always remarking on. With the kitchen renovation, the house has a flow that has made for great parties. I added a ramp on the deck to accommodate all my friends, which makes the house accessible and is also handy for strollers and luggage. The location is great. We are in the Winona Park neighborhood of Decatur. Kids can walk to school, we can walk to the center of town in 15 minutes, and the MARTA station is at the end of our street. The biking PATH also crosses our street. We are close to the Dekalb Farmer’s Market, which is my favorite place to food shop. We have great neighbors who are friendly and helpful. They are a mixture of gay and straight, old and young, families with and without kids. This has been a great place to raise my daughter. She attended Decatur City Schools, where she got an International Baccalaureate education and took part in an award-winning band and journalism program. The City of Decatur offers great options for recreation. There are several parks and pools, rec centers, and a wonderful library. My daughter has been to summer camps in Decatur every year, and she has played tennis at Glenlake Tennis Center since age 7.

The yard is great for gardening. There is something blooming ten months out of the year. In the front yard, there are multiple different flowers and trees that attract bees and butterflies, and give color to the landscape. We have perennials, winter honeysuckle, echinacea, forsythia, lantana, dogwood, crepe myrtle, snowball, spirea, lenten rose (helleborus), coreopsis, alstroemeria, French lavender, Russian sage, butterfly bush (buddleia davida), azalea, beauty berry, Japanese maple, fig trees, and other bushes. In the fenced backyard, there are gardenia, carolina jasmine, stargazer lily, hydrangea, alstroemeria, chrysanthemum, beauty berry, holly, iris, French lavender, rose of sharon, shasta daisy, and others, as well as the herbs thyme, oregano, cilantro, and parsley. I hope someone will fill the house with as much love as we have felt.
