According to architect Fred Zuideveld, “One of the main challenges for this project was creating a design that took full advantage of the great views to the river and Fremantle beyond. It also was important to ensure that the units opened up to the north, where not only are there more views but just as importantly they have access to a balcony which faces the sun. This required dual lift cores, with a single entry from the common access way for all five stages.”
Superb Amenities Siskas at Taskers comprises one, two, three and four-bedroom apartments as well as luxurious penthouses.
The first-class amenities include a gym, 25-metre lagoon pool, café, and sauna, yoga and massage rooms. “Being a builder-developer,” explains Gary Dempsey, “we pay particular attention to quality, and pride ourselves on building to a construction spec higher than any apartment building in Perth, but also with a higher acoustic rating.
“Most of our buyers are downsizers who have never experienced apartment living so acoustics are their number one concern. We address this with acoustic piping which is then wrapped, a sevenlayered party wall system with a light weight concrete core, suspended insulated ceiling, insulated internal walls, etc.”
With sustainability being one of GDD’s core principles, the Taskas project has been developed to 4 star green star equivalent, and incorporates electric car chargers, solar PV cells allowing all communal power to run cost-neutral, and a bore for dust suppression (during construction) and for irrigation of the communal gardens.

times, such as the wettest winter on record, labour shortages, delays in materials and price escalations. “Fortunately for us we were near completion and the biggest impact has been the wet winter and labour shortages,” says Gary.
Creating a Spacious Ambience During the early stages of the project, Gary Dempsey Developments commissioned Craig Steere Architects to help provide updated interior design concepts, planning and materials for the Siskas penthouse suites, as part of a modification of the original design.
“In essence,” says Craig Steere, “our brief was to assist with giving more generosity to the priority areas and also where possible to the secondary areas, thus creating a more spacious feel to the kitchens, main suites, dressings, ensuites and powder rooms, while also embracing quality open plan spaces in the kitchen, dining, living and sitting/family rooms. Outdoor living areas and private main suite external retreats were also contemplated.”
These spaces were all then crafted to offer more luxurious layouts and fitouts. “The kitchens were given a greater contemporary feel in layout, shaping, form and materiality, while also embracing the tower’s waterside location and references. Quality pantry spaces were created and in some cases separate wine cellar storage.”
In addition, CSA provided some initial direction for materials so buyers could be offered options utilising soft, medium and dark oak cabinetry and flooring, combined with marble-look imitation stone tops, with an earthy selection palette for carpet areas complemented by light travertine tiles in the wet areas.
