WORKING

IN

CONTINUUM

The Busride Design Studio is a group of Architects, Industrial designers, Interior and Build professionals who pride themselves in designing solutions from the macro to the micro, and looking for engaging solutions for high-visibility venues across the country. The Busride Lab explores the intersection between Art, Theory and Practice and incubates ideas and experiments for translation into practice.

Some of our projects involve understanding age-old systems in built form, practice, craft and other forms of cultural output. Maintaining continuums becomes essential in projects frame in this manner, so as to create new functionalities and extend the lives and memories of these artefacts of ageold beauty. As a Studio we are constantly experimenting with ways in which we can engage with the Very Old, to find expression in the Very New. Our role is then, to facilitate these continuums.

CONTINUUM

IN CITIES

Cities are ancient human repositories of stories and lives lived. Our home suburb of Bandra and now Goa are both drenched in Nostalgia, and it has been our continued passion to explore and understand these frameworks to explore in our documentation and research work. The outputs from these projects is wide and varied, from Architectural documentation, to curating Street Festivals, to creating tiny micro-economies around both local icons and food. The idea is to understand and augment vibrant homegrown cultures.

Heritage walks and Outreach

Being a polyvalent design studio with multiple interests, we tend to involve ourselves in multiple other ways in which to contribute. These channels include writing and editing festival souvenirs, working on theatre productions, organising festivals and exploring alternate micro-economic models to build citizen pride. Heritage precincts are alive and design can impact and aspect every part of their experience. We are extremely flexible with using any and all tools at our disposal to further the cause of the precinct, to encourage conservation and historical appreciation amongst visitors and residents alike. This can play out in surprising and inspiring ways.

IN RESEARCH

Through Research we are able to extend our vision and limits of experience to the far reaches of time, both in the Past and the Future, to draw inspirations for projects beyond the immediate. The polyvalent approach to Research allows engagement with a wide variety of domains, including New Media, Immersive environments, Open Knowledge Labs and workshops, amongst a host of other fun divergences.
