Sipe’s Orchard Home Benefit Ride

Story and photo by Duane Gibbs

A special “Thanks” goes out to the Maniax Riding Club for hosting the 2nd Annual Benefit Ride for Sipe’s Orchard Home. The original ride “Dice Run” was scheduled for June 20, but due to COVID the plans were cancelled. The Maniax were determined to do something to help Sipe’s, so a benefit ride was planned for November 7. Since 1943 Sipe’s Orchard Home has operated many different programs for preparing children and youth for their best futures. Bikers across the Hickory, NC, area regularly gather items the children need and raise money to support the home. We had a beautiful day for the ride. Many other riding clubs participated and supported this important event, as well as the other riders who joined us. A special thanks to Kevin Smith with the Braxton Smith Foundation and the Rolling Saints for supporting the Maniax Riding Club in a successful event for Sipe’s. Registration was held at Box Car in Claremont and from there riders headed to Carolina Patch & Leather in Statesville, the A.W.O.L. MC in Statesville, Twin Oaks/Two Trees in Denver and then back to the Maniax club house in Catawba. After the ride everyone enjoyed hamburgers and hotdogs provided by the Maniax Riding Club and music was provided by DJ Mark Day.
