Xtreme Wings-N-Things Reopening Party
By: Lincoln In ield
e’ve all b een out riding on these b eautiful
days without our normal watering holes as stops. It made for some plan changes and hopefully new roads and scenic destinations were found. Much to our pleasure Xtreme Wings -N- Things along with some other NC business were allowed to reopen their doors May 22nd at 5pm. Opening wasn’t easy with the smothering
restrictions that are in place, rules and warnings, which don’t sit well with bikers, were posted and shared as to what you could expect, like lower occupancy numbers and smaller menus. But the Xtreme team worked it out to make the best reopening that could be had.
The sun was out on Saturday, May 23rd so I figured that Xtreme would be a good destination for the afternoon. When I turned onto Myer Lee Dr. I could see the line of bikes parked in the street 100 yards away. A beautiful, gleaming row of chrome on either side of the street in front of the business was a great sight. I pulled down into Smokin’ Harley-Davidson’s parking lot who shares the building with Xtreme Wings- N- Things and walked up the walkway to join the party. Guitar Dave was set up on the side of the building playing his ass off like usual. Dave is a hell of a showman and keeps the crowd going. He took a break in the song to announce that the “Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine was in the house”, thanks, as always, Dave! Xtreme had roped off their parking lot to extend their patio and allow for more patrons to safely gather. Biker Gear and More was set up under their huge tent and were hocking all kinds of biker needs. I’m always on the hunt for cool pins and patches, so I gave them a look. To further accommodate the crowd there was an outside beer tub with ice cold beer that can only
be served by hot women! Missy and Kobee filled the part perfectly and posed for as many pictures as the beers they served! The parking lot was full of people milling around enjoying the first time since March that they could stand around and have a beer at Xtreme! Inside, Brandee was keeping those bellied up to the bar satisfied with their favorite libations. As I mentioned, Xtreme was offering a shortened menu, but that didn’t mean that they were serving up their awesome fresh wings! If you ever stop by, they have a bunch of options, but I always go for the Mango Habanero sauce on the wings. Makes my mouth water just typing that out! They were also serving up Boone Potatoes, named after their friends at the Boone Bike Rally, and Kanawha peppers, named after their friends at the Thunder In Kanawha Bike Rally. The wait staff was working hard to keep up with the orders and did a heck of a job!
I hung out for a few hours then hit the road. I’m so glad to see Xtreme back open, apparently, so were a lot of other bikers! Check out Xtreme’s ad every month to keep up with what they have going on. Bike Night at Xtreme is every Thursday. Weekends are filled with good times, cold beer and great food. You may even catch some of the areas hottest bands playing on either inside or outside stages. I know they have some killer parties coming up in July so dust off your drinking clothes and let’s have a great time. Check out the Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar, starting on page four to see what all is going on.
