Cara Dillon If you don’t know the voice of Cara Dillon, you’re in for a treat. If you are already amongst her legions of admirers around the world, you know you have something special in store.

Over ten years Two Thirds Sky have built a reputation for highly energised, technical dance performance rooted in historical and cultural heritage. Join them in the medieval town of Higham Ferrers for Eventide, an exciting choreographic response to the medieval English Heritage site of Chichele College and Bede House.

A Thousand Hearts, Cara Dillon’s fifth solo album, is another small masterpiece of song and emotion, ethereal and radiant, beautifully honed and perfectly true. The extraordinary Irish singer makes music that transcends genres and crosses barriers. She has won every folk award going, but confesses to being no purist, making music that reaches beyond the constraints and limitations of tradition.

The Eventide project is the first collaboration between the company and producing partner The Castle, supported by Arts Council England.

La Fille Mal Gardée Frederick Ashton Ferdinand Hérold Ballet in two acts

Frederick Ashton’s final full-length ballet is one of his most joyous creations, inspired by his love for the Suffolk countryside. It is based on an 1828 French ballet and the music was adapted by John Lanchberry from Ferdinand Hérold’s original score. La Fille Mal Gardée was a resounding success on its premier in 1960 and has remained a firm favourite in The Royal Ballet’s repertory. The title translates as The Wayward Daughter. Tue 5 May, 7.15pm p24 £15 (£13.50) Genre: Live Broadcast / Ballet

He looks and sounds strikingly like his old man, so much so that one of his dad’s former sidemen said “It’s like watching a ghost in the flesh!” This son and proud heir of the King of Chicago blues is blessed with a big and powerful voice that can manage to convey deep emotional resonance on the slow numbers and good old fashioned testosterone laden strut on those classic shuffles. He mixes up the sets with his dad’s classic songs and his own original material. Mud, however, also has his own very individual mojo working and will be coming to the UK to tour with the UK’s very own top blues talent - West Weston, harp; Ronni Buysack-Boysen,guitar; Ian Jennings, double bass; Mike Hellier, drums and Eric Ranzoni, keys. Matisse Jazz Cut-Outs

Exhibition of Photography

box office 01933 270 007

Our recent visit to the Tate Modern’s exhibition of Henri Matisse’s Jazz Cut-Outs, among the most admired and influential works of his career, inspired us to combine contemporary dance with visual arts.

42

As dancers, we improvised individual body shapes, merging into freeze frames and movements. Including different levels, solo, trios and group formations using lighting and the colours Matisse used in his cut-outs.

May Location: Gallery

This collection of images has been created by local Year 10 and Year 11 students who have used photography as a means to tap into their own creativity and to help re-focus on their own learning, self-development and future direction. This exhibition represents part of the work created towards achieving an Art & Designbased vocational qualification. www.myfuturestarts.today

This popular club, founded in 1950, presents their annual exhibition for all of Wellingborough to enjoy. Open to all camera enthusiasts, the club promotes the appreciation of all areas of photography and aims to bring together all those interested in this great hobby. “Passionate About Photography” www.wellingboroughcameraclub. org.uk

Acrylics, oil and pencil on canvas and paper in bright natural colours make up a dazzling exhibition of landscapes of the natural world across four seasons featuring dawn and dusk, sun and snow and flora. Majestic trees and wide open spaces allow your eyes to breathe... “My love of the outdoors inspires my art with wide open vistas, cosy forest walks and fields of beautiful flowers.” Alexandra Mazareanu

June Location: Exhibition Wall

VISUAL ARTS Wellingborough & Beyond Wellingborough is the starting point for this technology-enhanced photographic exhibition which extends into surrounding counties as Max explores new areas and revisits some of his favourite locations. “By removing modern day clutter, such as yellow lines and TV aerials, whilst maintaining a photographic quality, I can enhance an image to create something timeless, not seen before.”

Lynne Harris Aspects of Water A love of the coast inspires much of Lynne’s work as seen in this exhibition of seascapes, landscapes and other watery scenes. Whilst particularly fond of the Pembrokeshire coastline, Lynne is always on the lookout for good views locally and when visiting new areas. Included here are scenes of the Dorset and Norfolk coastlines, as well as local scenes from Northamptonshire.
