H
ow tweet-master Mehdi did use his twitter handle to recruit volunteers for IS from India's IT capital Bengaluru? How Islamic State did raise fund from different regions? Why freethinkers of Bangladesh are afraid of blogging from abroad? - All the answers are somehow linked to Cyber Space, which seems to be insecure. September is the month, when the world mourns 9/11 attack. Al Qaeda used Cyber Space for the attack on the United States through coded messages for recruitment, planning, funding and execution. Even in 2012, Al Queda declared Electronic Jihad, which was aimed to attack US networks and electronic grid. Till now US doesn't have any weapon to make their cyberspace completely secured. China, which is proud of its business, technology, economy and after all the great wall, lacks an effective firewall, which can prevent critical cyber attack. Unveiling a bunch of cyber based programmes, India lacks a dedicated Cyber Security Law. The cyber realm is expanding rapidly as the threats are intolerably increasing. Nevertheless, the Cyber Security is very significant, when it comes to business. Securing the cyberspace for business is very tough, since it comprises many sectors, many factors, numerous organizations and different nationalities. A digital cold war is already going on. China, Russia and some other countries are of the believe that Internet should be Governed at International level by Inter Governmental Organizations like International Telecommunication Union. America does not think so,usually. They aspire to govern the Internet " businessocratically ". Cyber Terrorism depends on various methods and tricks. Fraudulent electronic communication is just one of those. India has effective facilities for Cyber Forensic to monitor those illegal activities. The state governments are also decorating their Cyber Wing with much care. State Bank of India and other banks are concentrating to develop a better and secured platform for online banking. But tackling those challenges will be impossible for Government or Organizations, "unless the Cyber Society joins actively and aware people." The CEO Magazine's September issue is dedicated to Cyber Security. More precisely, it is for Cyber Security related services. We have carried the stories of successful entrepreneurs and their progressive plans. Our editorial team has received very effective response, from their companies as well as other research institutes and cyber forensic researchers, which enables us to publish the issue. Warm Wishes, Ayanangsha Maitra Managing Editor The CEO Magazine New Delhi @Ayanangsha ayan@theceo.in

he risk of Cyber Security is increasing. Cyber Security trends are also changing. Here those trends are prepared to understand the big trends or changes that will impact the security posture of organizations in both the public and private sector in the upcoming years. Safety & Security The government is trying for digitization through out the country. Their attempts will be successful if they manage to impose tough security standards and testing methods for networks, mobile devices, and software to counter current threat scenarios. The impact of uncorrected weaknesses will be seen on an entirely different scale. Security is essential for Progress Now-a-days, users prefer round-the-clock access to their data. Cloud service providers will have to face the question of how resilient their own cloudbased security architectures India
actually are against cyber attacks . IT security budgets is increasing Companies are investing more for security related services. Due to the increase in cyber attacks and cyber terrorism, companies may face the need to invest more in compliance with

mandates on critical infrastructure protection and national cyber defense strategies. Insider Negligence Risks are Decreasing Due to investments in technologies, companies may control insecure devices of employees. Through various awareness programmes it can be ignored. A lack of visibility into what employees are doing in the workplace will become less of a problem. The inability to control employees' devices and apps, lack of awareness of cyber security practices, employee complacency about cybersecurity and a lack of visibility into what employees are doing in the workplace will become less of a problem in the upcoming years. Investments in technologies to address these threats and better controls over BYOD and BYOC will make these risks more manageable. Mobile versus Privacy Cellphones will raise security and privacy issues more often in the future, partially because of how they are designed. People on the way accustomed to managing their lives and even families on the go using mobile devices are placing ever greater value on the protection of their personal information. Organizations that do not take that problem into account will be penalized.

In particular consumers will use social media for making leaks public and for venting their frustration. Even Android is a constant concern as far as security is concerned, but few experts think that the threats will get worse in the upcoming years. Suppliers increasingly targeted by attackers Cyber Attackers look for the weakest link in the chain, chiefly among the smallest suppliers and medium-sized enterprises. While understanding attackers offer some insight, under standing their potential targets can also provide clues into emerging trends in cyber security. Cyber Crime will keep information security leaders up night There will be significant increases in the risk of nation state attackers and advanced persistent threats, cyber warfare or terrorism, data breaches involving high value information and the stealth and sophistication of cyber attackers. In contrast, there are expected to be slight improvements in mitigating the risk of hacktivism and malicious or criminal insiders. Shifts in new technologies towards big data analytics, forensics and intelligence India
based cyber solutions Encryption for Data at rest, Big data Analytics, SIEM and Cybersecurity Intelligence may gain the most in importance in up coming years. Automated forensics tools, encryption for data in motion, next generation firewalls, web application firewalls, threat intelligence feeds and sandboxing or isolation tools. Cyber security becomes a condition for market admission. Manufactures are obligated to define suitable mitigration strategies. Providers for information security are helping more and more companies to perform security assessments during the medical device software development phase, especially with IT security analysis and penetrations tests. Businesses focusing on private clouds. Users will learn to tell more precisely what services the public cloud can be used for and what guides the market offers to the security of cloud-based services (certificates). Ever growing market for public cloud computing, private clouds are also on the rise since companies are realizing that they need to migrate in business-critical areas in order to protect their digital valuables.

All this is without compromising on end-user experience (including mobility) - creating a win-win for enterprise IT and employees. So the focus for security is on information (or content) and not on devices or network (like in traditional perimeter-based security and mobile device management). " " Competitors are mostly point products and focus more on end-user functionalities. Most of them have ignored the security aspects of enterprises." he added. The Maverick behind the Success Anand A. Kekre Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Anand Kekre holds fiftyeight U.S. Patents. yber Security is no longer a threat for IT and Banking sector. It's affecting internet users of all age and areas. Responding fake electronic communications, students are also becoming victim of cyber threat. To make people aware of those kind of Cyber Threats, Centre for Cyber Forensics and Information Security wing of University of Madras has initiated an umbrella programme called Cyber Security Awareness Programme or CSAP. Chennai based Dr.N.Kala Baskar, Director-in-Charge of Centre for Cyber Forensics and Information Security, has been leading the team from July 2015. Since the programme involves people from different communities, it's split into two phrases. and colleges. It is proposed to conduct awareness campaign in different academic premises in Chennai. They have already covered nearly 15 schools, 3 colleges and 2 universities. As a result over 6000 participants are benefited by this event. The students were taught about Password security, email security - scams and spams, Mobile security, Wifi and bluetooth security, ATM security, Pinhole cameras and CCTV camera's. India
To conclude the Phase I, a rally was conducted on 12 september from Marina beach to Labor statue area in Chennai. The event was flagged off by M.P.Nirmala (IAS Retd) former Principal secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu. Former Founder Director of Centre for Cyber Forensics and Information Security also attended the programme. Over 250 participants from schools, colleges and universities participated the programme.

There was a street play enacted by students with concept of cyber security issues. This programme was followed by a Book Release function. M.P.Nirmala (IAS), Former DGP - C.L.Rama krishnan, Director, Dr.Ramasubramanian, Valiant Technologies, Mr.Anjaneyalu, Managing Director of CoeDF were also present for the Book Release function. The Book is titled Cyber Tales and is divided into four sectionsCyber Tales, Cyber Similes, Cyber Puzzles and Cyber Anthem. Another online portal inccfis is being developed to make netizens aware of those kind of challenges. “A person needs to communicate with another and so there is always an exchange of information between the parties in conversation if they need to remain engaged. But most people do not know how or why to keep sensitive information private and what could be the risks associated if what is sensitive to someone is made public. " Smita, a participant. She also added " The idea behind the creation of CSAP was to educate the public about the dangers of Cyber World and how what we consider so resourceful - the Magazine for Business Leaders & Decision Makers......

internet, could violate one's privacy. Therefore we began to work towards this cause from the start of July and just before the rally we happened to have successfully interacted with 6000 plus students from various institutes, where the message was conveyed with the use of effective presentations and demonstrations." The team is going to extend this programme to other cities and rural areas as well. " For Phase II, I'm planning to take it to the other interior and few remote places in other districts." Dr. Kala revealed. Dr Kala has spent nearly 23 years in Forensic , out of which 8 years in Computer Forensic. Prior to joining Centre for Cyber Forensics and India
Information Security, she was a Scientific Officer at Computer Forensics Division of State Forensic Sciences Department in Chennai. “Everbody is using emails mobile phone. They should first know about security matters. They will also be able to understand password and privacy settings. Even they are downloading many apps but don't know which privacy is to keep. Most of those apps ask personal information. One needs to think whether it is necessary or not." she advised to the young netizens . " One can not prevent it from happening. But we can make them aware about Cyber Threats. Responding fake mails may afffect their system." she added.

Cyber Security in India :
Challenges and Solutions F
ormation of Cyber Space in India can be traced back to 1975, when National Informatics Centre (NIC) was set up for providing IT solutions to the government. Three networks were also developed at that period. But Cyber Space is facing several critical challenges day by day. It is seen that almost all the projects launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi are closely related to Cyber Space. As a result, the Government is focusing more on Cyber Security. Recently the Prime Minister's Office has appointed Gulshan Rai as the first Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Private firms are also investing in large scale for Cyber Security related researches. Cyber-security business includes consulting, software solutions, implementation, and operations & maintenance. Consulting is mostly driven by well-established foreign companies. But Indian companies have big opportunity for providing services like Magazine for Business Leaders & Decision Makers......

implementation, and operations & maintenance. Cyber Space related challenges can be categorized into Cyber Crime, Cyber Terrorism and Cyber Conflict. Day by day Cyber attacks are becoming very targeted and highly sophisticated. In cyberspace an attacker can cover his tracks and even mislead the target into believing that the attack has come from somewhere else. They can command the resources to create attack vectors in order to achieve the results they want. India
They commit fraud, identity theft, steal money, commit robbery against corporations, banks, nations, regions and even individuals. This difficulty in identifying the perpetrator makes it difficult to rely on the capacity to retaliate as a deterrent. To prevent those issues, Organizations need to establishing regular cyber training and awareness programs. These programs are critical in making employees and contractors the first line of defense against malicious or criminal activity.

Netizens need to be aware of all kind of challenges and threats. They should know about all kind of privacy settings. Users will have to be careful of spam and fraud mails. Before replying any unknown person, they should think twice. Internet Users must not share personal information everywhere. Now all the big companies have developed longer supply chains as they leverage the global economy to increase their margins. But longer supply chains offer more potential points of attack for someone wishing to access a company's network or disrupt its operations. It needs to develop a strategy to deal with the risks created by the Internet of Things. They need to conduct a security impact assessment on how the Internet of Things will impact an organization's security posture. "India needs to encourage and integrate similar 'hacker clubs' in view of the enormity of challenges of virtual terrorism. China's IW militias reportedly employ over 60,000 hackers." said Prakash Katoch, Lieutenant General of Indian Army to an online portal. The portal also reports " China has already implemented IPv6 Internet Protocol which is not only more secure but also Magazine for Business Leaders & Decision Makers......

makes it easier to hide certain information through encryption that is not possible under the current IPv4 used in India. " There is increased emphasis on and investment in cyber space. So, organizations can prepare to deal with external threats such as nation state attackers, cyber warfare or cyber terrorism.
P ri me Minister Modi's initiatives Make in India and Skill India depend on Cyber Space. The programme Digital India is fully based on Cyber Space. As a result Cyber Security has becoming an essential part for Internet Governance. IT networks, computer resources, and all the fixed and mobile devices connected to the global Internet are linked to Cyber Space.
Almost three years ago, Government of India planned to formulate a legislation that would ensure strict Cyber Security disclosure norms. As per the then proposed legislation, if a company faced cyber attack or cracking incidence, the company would be required to disclose to its clients the impact of such an incident on the safety of their data and information. The company may also be required to inform government or its agency about such incidence.
Cyber Space is an area, which is beyond Sea, Land and Air. But unlike these, this 'area' is border-less. To deliver an effective solution, all the leading countries need to come forward. But as Cyber skills become more democratic, the targets of cyber attack will be on geopolitical matters. On the other hand, Cyber attackers cheat and attack individual users through different platforms and trick. It's impossible for the Government to prevent those threats without public awareness.

ne of the major events of our freedom struggle, the Swadeshi movement was launched on 7th August in 1905, when Indians started to boycott all imported textiles. Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Union MoS (Road Transport & Highways and Shipping) Shri Pon Radhakrishnan and the Minister of Finance and PWD for Tamil Nadu Shri O Paneerselvam were present on the occasion. Handloom weavers from various parts of the country also attended the one day programme. Unveiling the logo PM said " handlooms can be a tool to fight India
poverty, just as swadeshi was a tool in the struggle for freedom." But the financial condition of handloom weavers is very poor since there is no fixed wage rate. They can't avail facilities to lend money for their projects. Many of them don't have enough resources to run the business. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the day called for steps to promote it globally as well as ensure that weavers are paid their rightful wages.

“The main objective of our efforts is to increase the wages of our weavers. We need to put in place a system to ensure that they are paid rightful wages," Modi added during the programme. PM also compares the weavers with mothers because they make the saree, just as a mother brings up her daughter. Once it is made, the weaver bids it farewell, the way a bride is bid farewell after the wedding. Three new social security schemes have been initiated for the benefit of the unorganised sector, which will attract the weavers to produce handloom products. PM also seek the attention of film industry to popularise handloom attire through films. He addressed the film industry and opined Film industry has a major role to make it as a popular fashion in India. PM also asked the Textiles Ministry to institute awards for innovative design and branding initiatives in handloom. From the stage PM announced "The government is committed to enhancing the income level of the handloom weavers apart from putting in place a robust social cover for the weavers' families. The income of the weavers would be directly transferred to their bank accounts to prevent middle men from taking advantage" . He also conferred the Sant Kabir Awards and National Awards for 2012, 2013 and 2014 to handloom Magazine for Business Leaders & Decision Makers......

personalities from across India. The National Development Corporation supplied 27 per cent more yarn in 2014-15 when compared to the previous year. According to Mr. Modi, his appeal to people in October last year to use khadi had resulted in a 60 per cent year-on-year jump in its sales. Concerned over lack of adequate branding of Indian handloom industry despite its worldwide reach, Modi said this is the time to take steps to catapult it to global levels, including by enlarging the scope of e-commerce for sale of handloom products. On that day, PM emphasized that India, whose handicrafts were once in demand across all continents, had not been able to market its handloom products well in recent times. He opined that there is a need to highlight the eco-friendly aspects of handloom products.
India
