n 2015 India recorded highest ever production of motor vehicles. And now the NDA government is constructing roads at the pace of 100 kms per day. It seems the budget 2016-17 will fast-forward production and productivity of various other products, fuelling Rs 55,000 crore only for constructing road. Presenting the Budget on February 29, the Finance Minister has revealed allocation for different sectors. Fulfilling domestic demand, the Government intends to ensure macro-economic stability and prudent fiscal management. FM has announced Rs 50,000 tax exemption for first-time homebuyers, for house under Rs 50 lakh. The budget has allocated `35,984 crore for Agriculture and Farmers' welfare. Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana will be implemented and 28.5 lakh hectares area will be brought under irrigation. The allocation for rural sector is 87,765 crore. The budget also indicates that 100% FDI to be allowed through FIPB route in marketing of food products produced and manufactured in India. There will be some reforms in FDI policy in the areas of Insurance and Pension, Asset Reconstruction Companies, Stock Exchanges. Looking at Make in India initiative, this budget also brings some changes Changes in customs and excise duty rates on certain inputs to reduce costs and improve competitiveness of domestic industry in sectors like Information technology hardware, capital goods, defence production, textiles, mineral fuels & mineral oils, chemicals & petrochemicals etc. For promoting digital literacy, National Digital Literacy Mission and Digital Saksharta Abhiyan are already approved. Nevertheless, the budget has encouraged startups to stand up. This issue of The CEO Magazine is carrying an article on budget 2016-17 in detail. FM Presents Budget 2016 - 2017 to Transform India
T
he CEO Magazine, New Delhi: The Union Budget 2016 - 2017 has been presented on February 29, which addresses various economic aspects of the country and reveals developments of business sector and the startup ecosystem. From June 1, all kind of taxable services would attract an extra service tax of 0.5% . The tax on dividend would impact the earnings of several promoters and large shareholders of Indian companies. Citizens, who earn more than one crore rupees will have to count higher surcharge on their income tax. They can no longer escape tax while buying back shares of closely held entities to withdraw cash from family firms. Imported smart phones, tablets and e-reading devices would be more costly. As the government
presented a sharp increase in the excise duty levied on aviation turbine fuel (ATF), airfares are likely to go up. During his presentation FM Arun Jaitley raised the question, "If Shopping Malls are kept open all seven days of the week, why not the small and medium shops? These shops should be given the choice to remain open on all seven days of the week on voluntary basis. The interest of the workers in terms of mandatory weekly holiday, number of working hours per day, etc., of course, have to be protected. We propose to circulate a Model Shops and Establishments Bill which can be adopted by the State Governments on voluntary basis." Feeling distressful condition of agriculture in the country, Rs 1,51,581 crore has been allocated for social India

Cipla acquires InvaGen and Exelan
O
n February 18 pharma giant Cipla announced that its UK arm, Cipla (EU) Limited has closed the transaction to acquire two US -based companies, InvaGen Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Exelan Pharmaceuticals Inc. The acquisition was made by Cipla (EU) Limited through a wholly owned special purpose vehicle which would merge into InvaGen Pharmaceuticals Inc. after the acquisition. The combined revenue for the two companies for the year ended 2015 is over USD230 million. The acquisition comes as a major positive for Cipla to scale its business in US as the combined revenue for both these companies stood at USD 230 million in 2015. In an interview with Archana Shukla of CNBC-TV18, Umang Vohra,COO of Cipla said " We are very happy that we have finally closed the deal. I think it has been going on for a while but tremendously happy to see it close just yesterday night and today morning. The business as it stands today is EPS accretive by itself. So, it has got a topline of a about USD 230 million, we sell about 30 odd
products. Most of these products are in categories where we don't expect too much competition and therefore we don't see too much of risk in this baseline going forward. So, as it stands today, this business of USD 230 million is already EPS accretive." "The pipeline for the future has another 30 odd products, almost five of which are we believe first to file opportunities and will be great accretion to the overall business. Therefore I think that the EPS accretive nature is that it is already reached a critical size in the US where it is making a fairly decent EBITDA and on top of that it has a pipeline which can come in and substitute to make sure that the product pipeline keeps growing." he added. The COO also said that Cipla's current growth guidance did not include this merger and it will be a part of it in the next fiscal. This acquisition is the second landmark acquisition in Cipla's 80 year history - the first was Cipla Medpro, South Africa. This acquisition will give scale to Cipla's US business -currently 8% of total revenue as well as providing a launch
pad to introduce Cipla's pipeline of products in respiratory and injectables , among others, in the coming years. Combined with the pipeline of InvaGen products, the overall portfolio will be wide-ranging and will cover chronic therapies like CVS, CNS, respiratory, oncology and diabetesamong others. The acquisition of InvaGen pharmaceuticals also provides Cipla with about 40 approved ANDAs, 32 marketed products, and 30 pipeline products which are expected to be approved over the next 4 years. In addition, InvaGen has filed 5 first-tofile products. Dosage forms include immediate release, modified release and extended release tablets and capsules. With a manufacturing footprint of ~350,000 sq.ft of GMP area, InvaGen has 3 units located in Long Island, NY, with a total production capacity of 12 billion tablets and capsules per annum and about 500 employees. With this acquisition, Cipla will have more relevance to wholesale and retail customers.
UltraTech acquires cement units of Jaiprakash Associates for 16500 crore

ltraTech Cement Limited on February 28 2016 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jaiprakash Associates Limited for the acquisition of its identified cement plants for an enterprise value of 16500 crore rupees. The cement plants of Jaiprakash Associates to be acquired have a cement capacity of 22.4 mtpa. Those plants are situated in different areas of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar
Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Anadhra Pradesh and Karnataka. As per the deal, UltraTech will pay an additional 470 crore rupees for completion of the grinding unit for 4 mtpa capacity under implementation. The acquisition, which is subject to definitive agreements and regulatory approvals as may be required, will augment UltraTech's cement capacity to 90.7 mtpa from the current 68.3 mtpa. India
UltraTech Cement's proposed acquisition of Jaiprakash Associates' cement plants is expected to be completed by June 2017, a top official from the Aditya Birla Group's flagship firm has said. Atul Daga, UltraTech Cement's Chief Financial Officer, told "We have to ink definitive agreements and get permission from the High Courts. This will take time. The firm expects the agreement to be finalised in the next 12-15 months. Expect it to consummate by June 2017."

aahaa raises $1M in funding from YourNest Angel

n March 4 aahaa stores, an online office supplies platform has raised pre-series A funding round of about $1 million from a group of investors led by YourNest Angel Fund. The Chennai based firm will utilize the new round of funding for market expansion, building technology & infrastructure and talent acquisition. Apart from it head office in Chennai, aahaa has warehouses in Chennai, Bangalore, Pune and Gurgaon. It claims to have over 50 customers across manufacturing, technology and banking verticals including Wipro, TCS, Ashok Leyland, Michelin, Titan, Karur Vysya Bank and Cholamandalam Finance. As per a rough estimate, the office
supplies is worth $20 billion industry. The startup also claims to solve a major pain point for corporates concerning the purchase of thousands of these materials from hundreds of vendors in multiple locations. The company is enabling a one-stop solution for all needs regarding office management, which are classified as indirect spends. It has warehouses in Chennai, Bangalore, Pune and Gurgaon. " The office supplies could range from cafeteria supplies to specialised stationery to customised trophies. Besides, it also fulfills the unique needs of certain industries such as worker safety
products in manu- facturing and cash counting machines and ATM displays for banks " said Asokan Sattanathan, Chairman of aahaa. aahaa has over 500 vendors and notably sources 75 percent of its deliveries locally. Following the funding, the investors will be a part of the board committee of aahaa.
Jaypore raises Rs 30 crore in funding from Aavishkaar

ew Delhi-headquartered online retail store Jaypore has raised Rs 30 crore in funding from social venture capital firm Aavishkaar on February 19. This is the first such made by Aavishkaar in an ecommerce venture. Last year, it had invested Rs 32 crore in ecommerce logistics firm Connect India. Jaypore not only sources products from from co-operatives, self-help groups, established manufactures and exporters, but also directly from artisans across the country. It gets the products on consignment from artisans, and which are then kept in its central warehouse in Delhi. This ecommerce store sells all lifestyle products, except furniture, but including, clothing, apparel, accessories, jewellery,
personal care items, art and food. It will also launch its mobile app on the Android and iOS platforms over the next three months. Jaypore will utilize this fund for development of its technology infrastructure, brand building. They also intend to expand its team, according to a senior executive of Jaypore. Puneet Chawla, co-founder of Jaypore said, "Jaypore is now an established brand, and we are looking to expand the brand further, reach out to a larger segment of consumers, and showcase the incredible variety of products from India, to potential customers in the country and outside its borders." According to Chawla, every day the company records between 200-400 transactions, with an average ticket size of Rs 4,000. India
Jaypore has been backed by Haresh Chawla, partner at private equity firm India Value Fund. "Jaypore is a sterling example of how a brand can be built in a costefficient manner, and have tremendous customer loyalty, versus the established practice of just throwing money at traffic ," said Chawla. Chawla had invested Rs 3 crore in the startup in 2012. "We're already 65% of our total orders come through our mobile optimised website," added Chawla. For the financial year ending March 2017, the company is projecting GMV of Rs 100 crore, and is aiming to break even by fiscal 2018. According to Chawla, co-founder of Jaypore, the company expects to record gross merchandise sales of Rs 30 crore by the end of the current fiscal.

Just five kilometers away from Thenzawl, Vantawng Falls is located. It is a two-tiered waterfall with a total height of 229 metres. Tuirihiau is a beautiful waterfall near Thenzawl, upstream of Vantawng fall. There is a deer park, which houses seventeen deers, in natural environment.
Lalruanga Lung is located in N. Khawbung Village, which is around 16 km from Champhai. A national park located in the Champhai is Murlen National Park, which covers an area of approximately 100 km2. This is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna. The park is situated about 245 km east of Aizawl, and is close to the Chin Hills. About fifteen species of mammals, hundred and fifty species of birds, thirty five species of Medicinal plants, two species of bamboos and four species of orchids so far have been recorded in this park. Mura Puk is situated in Zote village, which is 10 km away from Champhai town. There are six caves at this site and these were the hiding place of the local villagers.
