What observershi ps are avai l abl e? All observership visits are developed in association with clinical specialists at The Christie. The Trust is therefore able to create individual programmes for a variety of topic areas. Previous visit topics have included: HIPEC, radical hysterectomy and cancer management Haematology and cutting edge therapies Nursing care pathways, nurse led services and development of oncology nurse training Multiple myeloma, bone marrow failure and myelodysplastic syndrome Robotic surgery procedures and laparoscopic pelvic dissection Head and neck cancer, paediatric glioma, stereotactic radiation Chemotherapy for neuroendocrine cancers and bone metastases Management and leadership in cancer care Radiotherapy on pelvic organs, chest area and malignant neoplasms Brachytherapy, prostate and breast cancers Proton Beam Therapy service development

The Chri sti e Hospi tal The Christie Hospital is an internationally recognised centre for treatment, education and research in cancer. The Trust is the largest single site cancer centre in Europe, treating more than 44,000 patients a year. It is also the first UK centre to be officially accredited as a comprehensive cancer centre.

THE CHRISTIE The Observer Programme

Observerships are designed by Christie clinical leads to provide unique development opportunities which enable visiting professionals to enhance their experience to transfer back into their workplace. Observers will have access to observe our work and gain insight into the workings of a specialist Trust.

How long do vi si ts l ast? The Christie is able to offer observerships lasting from one week to three months. The majority of observers last for a maximum of one month. All visits are tailored to the aims of objectives of the observer.

Who shoul d appl y? The Christie welcomes applications for observerships from a range of staff. This includes consultants, clinicians, nurses, allied health professionals and scientists with an established interest in cancer. The Trust also welcomes applications from senior managers with an interest in strategic level issues.

Fees Fees are payable for all visits. Once a visit plan has been designed then applicants will be provided with a costing for the visit.
