SPRING/SUMMER 2019 MIU MIU EYEWEAR COLLECTION
Elizabeth Banks in Michael Kors Collection
9
Michael Kors is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Banks wore a crimson leopard jacquard ruched dress from the Spring 2020 Michael Kors Collection to a press conference for “Charlie’s Angels” on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, in New York City.
The new Spring/Summer 2019 Miu Miu Eyewear collection speaks of contemporary femininity, poised between a playful spirit and seductive rebellion. The frames convey unconventional energy, mixing different styles and inspirations: feminine oversized silhouettes, sumptuous ornaments, fine interplays of shapes and retro accents define the new Miu Miu Eyewear collection as a lab of stylistic expressions. The pop aesthetic of the Miu Miu Clouds glasses are characterised by a minimalist construction enlivened by the irreverent touch of the soft, cloudshaped tinted lenses. The SS 19 fashion show glasses explore new stylistic codes, flaunting large, shield silhouettes outlined by opulent decorations, such as maxi crystals or satin ribbons. The Miu Miu Logo story is back in the spotlight with new styles: the elegant, feminine allure is brightened with sparkling crystals yet stays true to the bold signature logo on the temples.

OMEGA serves as Official Timekeeper at the FINA Swimming World Cup #7 in Doha, Qatar

Australian Jewellers House of K’dor launch new collection with UAE’s luxury partners
OMEGA is proud to fulfil its role as the Official Timekeeper at the FINA Swimming World Cup #7, which will be held at the Hamad Aquatic Centre in Doha, Qatar from November 7th to 9th 2019. OMEGA has been an official partner of FINA since 1973, but the Swiss watchmaker's legacy of sports timekeeping can be traced back four decades earlier to 1932, when for the first time, a single watchmaker was assigned the role of Official Timekeeper at the Olympic Games. Since then, the finest athletes in the world have relied on OMEGA's unwavering precision to measure their performances. Aquatic sports offer a unique set of challenges and, throughout its timekeeping history, OMEGA has met them head on by developing key technologies; including the Quantum Aquatic Timer, the iconic touch pads, starting blocks with false start detection systems and high-speed back-up video cameras. Of course, precisely measuring a performance in the water is not just about who wins and by how many hundredths of a second. Data-handling is equally important for races, as well as sports like water polo and diving. OMEGA ensures instant distribution of results to athletes, coaches, spectators, journalists and broadcasters, while also producing the on-screen graphics enjoyed by viewers at home. Doha has now hosted The FINA World Swimming Championships on numerous occasions and has established its reputation as a key destination within the sport. Now, with the next major championships being held here once again, OMEGA is looking forward to reprising its role in 2019 as Official Timekeeper at the FINA Swimming World Cup #7
Australian luxury jewellers House of K’dor launched their new ‘Emirati’ collection to a group of esteemed guests with an opulent dinner and show under the stars at Jumeirah Al Wathba Resort and Spa, in partnership with Etihad Airways and Lamborghini UAE. The Emirati Collection is a stunning new set of pieces from the Australian jewellery house that shone centre stage with jaw-dropping creations that brought a touch of down-under glamour and beauty to Arabia. “Through the Emirati collection, our main focus is to highlight both the opulence and contemporary design that Abu Dhabi has to offer,” said House of K’dor’s global Creative Director, Zena K’dor. House of K’dor’s Emirati collection evokes the region’s many moods, from bright sunny days in the desert to the Azurian tones of the sea and vibrant flower gardens, using a rich treasure trove of gemstones set within architecturally perfect creations that pay homage to the region’s leader in opulence and design. Etihad Airways flew the House of K’dor team and many of their high value guests from Australia for the event. Invitees also included international representatives from Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, Etihad Airways and Lamborghini in a perfect fusion of elegance, friendship and culture. Yasser Al Yousuf, Vice President Commercial Partnership Etihad Airways, added: “We are delighted to work with House of K’dor in showcasing Abu Dhabi as a destination and to have the first destination jewellery collection inspired by Abu Dhabi.” Highlights from the evening included music by leading Virgin Radio UAE DJ Martin Avari and a spectacular performance by Australia’s The Bearded Bakers, who strode in to the event on Arabian horseback and got the crowd dancing among traditional drumming and a fireworks display. The evening also featured dresses by Australia’s leading couturiers J’aton, showcased by Wilhelmina’s models as ruby, pearl, diamond, emerald, tanzanite and sapphire jewellery by House of K’dor sparkled against sequined and billowing gowns set against the exotic Al Wathba desert backdrop. www.theciin.com
Alex Thomson and Neal McDonald set sail in the HUGO BOSS boat for the Transat Jacques Vabre Race
JAEGER-LECOULTRE PRESENTS A NEW VERSION OF THE MASTER GRANDE TRADITION GYROTOURBILLON 3
015
British skipper Alex Thomson began his debut race aboard the new HUGO BOSS yacht in the Transat Jacques Vabre. Thomson and his co-skipper, fellow Briton Neal McDonald, departed from Le Havre, France this afternoon to begin the double-handed 4,350-mile race, which finishes in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil. In what is the 14th edition of the classic offshore race, a record 29 yachts within the IMOCA class will compete, each looking to finish on top in the famous ‘Route du Café’ sprint. Co-skipper McDonald is a seven-time Volvo Ocean Race competitor and former Olympic sailor with more than 30 years of experience in professional sailing. Now the Performance Manager at Alex Thomson Racing, McDonald has worked closely alongside Thomson and his team since 2016. The race marks the first time that fans of Thomson and his team will witness first-hand the new HUGO BOSS boat in competitive action following the yacht’s launch last month on the River Thames in London. The pair believes that the Transat Jacques Vabre will be a prime opportunity to work together and learn more about their groundbreaking new boat: “This is a learning and testing opportunity, first and foremost,” said Thomson as he prepared to begin the race today. “The race will give us the opportunity to understand just what this boat is capable of, and it will undoubtedly inform the next stages of our development as we head towards the Vendée Globe next year.” The boat was built with this very goal in mind – win the 2020 Vendée Globe – a race that remains one of the toughest sporting challenges in the world today and has only ever been won by a French sailor. With just two competitive races in the team’s schedule before then, the Transat Jacques Vabre and the New York-Vendée race in June 2020, the British team plans to maximize every available opportunity to familiarize themselves with this boat in the hope that it will lead them to Vendée Globe gold. “We of course know the Transat Jacques Vabre very well,” said Thomson. He continued, “We finished second in this race in both 2003 and 2015. However, this time around, with a new boat, the goal is to reach the finish line with the boat in good condition, and with a great deal of knowledge gained along the way. If we can do that, then I believe we place ourselves in a very good position for 2020.” November, 2019
Encapsulating the core values of La Grande Maison, JaegerLeCoultre presents a new version of the Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon 3, which marries the technical tour-de-force of its signature multi-axis tourbillon to the finest of artistic craftsmanship. In 2013, Jaeger-LeCoultre first introduced the Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon 3 to mark the Maison’s 180th anniversary. Combining a third-generation interpretation of the Gyrotourbillon with an intriguing and highly unusual instantaneous digital display chronograph, it represents mechanical sophistication of the highest order. But still, Jaeger-LeCoultre wanted to do more. And so, this new version of Gyrotourbillon 3 harnesses the exceptional skills of the Manufacture’s Rare HandcraftsTM (Métiers Rares®) artisans to elevate the rare and precious timepiece to a new level. With various elements of the dial showcasing the traditional Rare HandcraftsTM of handguillochage, engraving and grand feu enamel, this new model introduces the rarely seen craft of meteorite inlay.

Please introduce yourself I am Nancy Riman, a Lebanese artist and IBM student. A person who believes that music and arts are life, and a woman who follows her passion
What are some of your fondest childhood memories? I love your question because I believe that every childhood memory (good or bad) I will share with you reveals part of my character and personality. I remember the nights my mom stayed by my side when I was sick to ensure that I recovered and felt better. Also, I remember our innocent and joyful birthday parties at school, where I used to gather with my friends and enjoy the smallest games and things in life. I also remember the family picnics every Sunday; the music laughs and dancing. I was a scout's member, and I believe that being part of the scout's association is a transition phase in my life and character as it taught me confidence, responsibility, respect for others, and teamwork. I am now a camper and nature lover because of the impact of scouts on me - the best days of our lives were at the camping site and beside the bonfire. Another one of my fondest memories is when my piano teacher, who was a painter as well, decided to paint a canvas of me. It meant a lot.
Tell us about your education. My school was The International School of Choueifat (ISC) – SABIS in Choueifat. I studied there from nursery until I graduated (grade 12). In parallel, I was studying piano at the Lebanese Conservatory. I have majored at Notre Dame University International Business Management and continued my master's degree in my major at the Lebanese University.
018
I started playing the piano at the age of six years after my parents discovered my talent. I have continued my piano lessons at the Lebanese Conservatory, and I am currently a piano teacher. At work, I always daydreamed about fashion and music. Accordingly, I started researching about fashion and became a self-taught stylist, where I have designed some gypsy and bohemian- styled outfits. At the conservatoire, one of my teachers discovered my singing talent, where I did an entrance exam and started opera lessons at the Lebanese Conservatory and then continued private singing lessons at Madame Marie Mahfoud. I am so fond of music and arts that I have studied Latino dancing at the Dance Factory – Mike Poladian as well. Recently, I completed the entrance exams at the Lebanese University – Faculty of Fine Arts and was in the top five contestants; where now I am working on my bachelor's degree in Theater and Cinema.
Talk about your work experience. My work experience was not the favorite part of my life; however, I believe it is one of the most important phases because it was a transition stage for me as it helped me uncover many parts in myself and personality. I began working in the logistics and supply chain sector from 9am till 5pm. I was so committed to work that I used to start work at 7:30am and leave at least at 6:30pm. After six months, the company assigned me as the department manager. This was a success for me, as I never had previous work experience in the field of business and was younger than most of the department members. I started becoming more involved in business life and helped me adapt to this routine, but this didn't stop me from daydreaming about fashion, modeling, and music. After I continued my master's degree in IBM and did several pieces of training related to Quality Control, I was promoted to become a Quality Control Manager. I worked in this sector for two years. One night I woke up, decided to resign from work, and start my passion. Yes, this was the riskiest decision ever, but it changed me and taught me the lesson of my life: "Taking risks for what you have passion for is better than dying in your comfort zone". Even though I have worked in a field that doesn't resemble me; I thank this experience and appreciate it, as it uncovered a lot of parts in me and taught me a lot. I believe that it was preparation for the upcoming stage in my life, so I never regret any phase I passed through.

What made your interest in theatre after obtaining a Masters in International Business? I was always interested in arts and music, but due to personal reasons, I wasn't able to major anything in this regards. I love theater because it is the language of one's soul. Moreover, I will be able to combine and use the arts I know to express myself and convey my ideas. Theater is my voice and the voice of what cannot be said openly. I am a person who loves freedom and hates routine, and this is one of the major reasons why I couldn't endure working in IBM. I believe our souls are born to live freely and that every day should hold a new experience somewhere. So how can I experience it if I am living in an office?! Theater not only helps you explore the real world, but it can take you to a world with imagination and creativity. Theater has helped me "free my soul" because to be a good actor, one should be able to accept all that he has passed in life, embrace them, and reach a state of emotional stability (this is done by specific exercises and trainings - psychodrama). A successful actor should be in harmony with both his body and soul, to be able to demonstrate the character in the best possible way. As I said before, every stage in our lives is an introduction and preparation to the next one; thus, I never regret majoring IBM for 6 years and working in it, because it had helped me acquire many skills on a physical level (self-confidence, discipline, teamwork), which prepared me for theater.
What part of theater is of interest to you? Every single aspect of theater interests me. I always visualize it as a puzzle which should click correctly to give the best and most harmonious result. Theater is all about harmony; the actor should be in harmony with himself, the actors should be in harmony with each other, their movement, the play, the script, the music, the dance, the lighting, the decorations, the scenery, the sound, etc. So, I am interested in the whole creation.
Between art, acting, dancing, singing, and piano, which is your favorite, and why? I love them all equally as they are all my languages of expression, each having its taste.
What is your plan for the future? What would you like to achieve? I plan to be able to use theater, music, and arts to convey messages to people and of people. My plays will be their voices! Also, I dream of transmitting my knowledge and ideas through music and the arts. I hope my plays will be a turning point, awakening, and shift in people's lives. I would also love to have my fashion brand (which will undoubtedly transmit messages as well), one day.
How did you get in spirituality and meditation? How did it help shape you differently? I got into spirituality after a wakeup call. Spirituality helped me look at the world from a different perspective. It taught me to embrace every experience in life I passed through, forgive myself and everyone, love unconditionally, feels gratitude, and look at the positive side of anything that happens in life. Also, it helped me become aware of everything around me like positive and negative foods, habits, and lifestyle. I now believe that our happiness in life depends on our perception and gratification of every life situation. It helped me become in alignment.
What are some of your other hobbies? I am a nature lover, and my hobbies are hiking, camping, and nature photography. This has helped me connect with nature and appreciate it. I love photography because it helps me find beauty in everything. Also, I love contemporary dancing because it is also the true language of one's soul. I love reading spiritual books only, mainly for Rumi, Osho, and Al Halajj. They have awakened me spiritually and helped me meditate every day. Moreover, I love fashion design, styling, and modeling. My dream is to major in fashion design one day.

Favorite snack? Nothing specific but "Yes for homemade food‌ No for junk food!"
Favorite music? Classical music
Favorite movie? A Walk to Remember
Favorite book? The Forty Rules of Love – Elif Shafak
Do you have a beauty and exercise regime? Yes. I have a beauty, exercise, and most importantly, a food regime. My beauty regime is mainly composed of using organic and natural oils and creams for my hair and skin. Coconut oil is very good for the hair and the aloe vera plant oil for the skin. Also, to have younger and clearer skin, the most important thing is to wash your face before you sleep, mainly from the makeup and apply the night and eye cream. Collagen cream is essential to give a younger look, so every woman should use it. When I wake up, I wash my face and apply a hydrating cream and then sunscreen to protect my skin. Regarding my exercise regime, I prefer doing my exercises in nature rather than the gym. Every day, I put soft music and start my exercise regime by breathing deeply and doing very slow stretching exercises for all my body (head to toe); this is essential for the energy flow in the body and stress release.
022
Afterwards, I start doing the workout routine (the same as that done in the gym) for 30 minutes. Then, I practice some Latino dance moves for another 30 minutes. For me, the most important regime is the food regime because what we eat shapes our body and soul. Food and liquids are very important and affect our body, mood, and health; therefore, I have recently started a healthy diet based on personal research. It includes reducing the intake of meats, eating more fruits and vegetables, eating less artificial sugars and replacing them with natural ones (like dates), drinking about 2 liters of water a day, eating more nuts, and less salt. To filter the water we buy from plastic bottles, I put the water in a pottery crock and add to it the quartz healing stone.
What is your motto in life? Live in the moment. First, be grateful for being alive!
What are your best places to hang around in Lebanon? I love Lebanon's nature. I love to hang out in its forests, its beach, the beautiful views, and unique sunsets.
What was the best advice ever given to you? From my dad: Never be afraid of anything in life. Risk it. Don't care about people's judgment; they are people, after all.
How do you relax? Several ways, depending on my mood. Sometimes I relax by just staying at home; meditating and listening to soft music. At other times I go to nature to do some sports and stretching (this helps with the energy flow). Sometimes I do so by dancing. But, the thing I always do when I am not okay is "feeling gratitude". One way can be by writing a list of your gratifications in life (start with the smallest details). This is so relaxing.
Your message for us at CiiN. Keep up your distinctive work! CiiN's issues always hold this exclusive artistic and beautiful touch. Keep up this differentiation! Also, please remain the candle that lights our paths and that of the upcoming generation, by the deep and interesting topics which you discuss.

TAG Heuer launches 5th & final Limited Edition Monaco watch on 50th anniversary of Monaco timepiece Following the four previous events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic TAG Heuer Monaco throughout 2019, the Swiss luxury watchmaker rounded off the festivities with the presentation of the fifth and final special edition at an immersive celebration in Shanghai’s Space Plus. Upon entering, guests were immediately immersed in the Monaco universe and discovered “timeboxes” – custom time capsules that transported them to the four decades represented by the Monaco anniversary pieces – in the reception area. The fifth box remained closed until the unveiling of the watch for the 2009 to 2019 era. Following an opening video introducing the Monaco collection and a spectacular show of light and shadow, brand ambassadors Cara Delevingne and Li Yifeng unveiled the fifth limited-edition Monaco anniversary timepiece, which pays tribute to the second decade of the twenty-first century. The event’s ultra-modern setting and proceedings seamlessly underscored its theme of innovation and performance. In today’s fast-paced world, China is always ahead of its time, and thus was the perfect location to embody and symbolise the technical innovation and precision of the Monaco.

Five watches capturing 50 years of history To honour the 50-year milestone, TAG Heuer has launched five new Monaco models that capture the design spirit of each decade since the launch of the original in 1969. This event in Shanghai marked the unveiling of the fifth and final model in the series. The first of these models, inspired by the years 1969 to 1979, was unveiled at the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix in May, and the second limited edition, celebrating the period from 1979 to 1989, was presented in June in Le Mans, France. The third edition of the Monaco watch, inspired by the 1990s, made its grand debut in New York in July. The previous event for the fourth edition, honouring the sleek style of the early 2000s, received international acclaim after being introduced at an event in Tokyo in September.
Modern, minimalistic Monaco Sharp and uncomplicated, the limited-edition Monaco capturing the most recent decade of the timekeeping icon’s half-century past – 2009 to 2019 – represents the straightforward style and sleek design of luxurious everyday objects. Presented on a perforated black calfskin strap with black lining and grey stitching, this model has an unconventional sandblasted stainless-steel case and polished pushers. The charcoal-coloured sunray dial is adorned with black-gold-plated indexes with SuperLuminova®. The rhodium-plated subdials also feature a gleaming sunray effect. For a dynamic, eye-catching enhancement, the subdial hands and central seconds hand are in bold red, as is the marker at the 12 o’clock position on the dial. The black-gold-plated hour and minute hands have a stripe of SuperLuminova® to ensure legibility in any conditions. As with the original, the pushers are on the right of the case while the polished crown is on the left – an unconventional feature that has distinguished the Monaco over the past 50 years. The caseback of this 2010s-inspired wristwatch is engraved with the “Monaco Heuer” logo as well as “2009-2019 Special Edition” and “One of 169”. Sporting a design inspired by the original model, the stainless-steel caseback features a polished, vertical and circular brushed finishing. The case houses the renowned Calibre 11, a modern version of the automatic-winding chronograph movement that made its debut inside the original Monaco in 1969. This watch has been produced in an edition limited to 169 pieces.

The Perfect Bag For The Urban Man Lautem originates from the passion for things well done, the attention to detail, the constant search for excellence. They believe that luxury is about feeling special in a globalised world where you see the same models and patterns being repeated. To create their bags, Lautem went to Ubrique, the birthplace of leatherwork in Spain, to look for the best artisans to produce their bags and as a result Lautem products are built to last for many years, not just a season. The Spanish brand presents a new design aimed at convincing anyone regardless their gender identification. The design drew inspiration once again from the modernist movement of the early 20th century and the name is also taken from the same period. Orlando is a clear reference to Virginia Woolf’s Novel, a tribute to a writer that magnificently express the need to overcome the rigid gender roles that society impose to us in order to fully express our personalities.

Shamanic Soul By Klove Studio
046
Conceptualised in the capital of India by designers Prateek Jain and Gautam Seth, Klove Studio reveals the Shamanic Soul collection. As the name suggests, this range is inspired by the ancient healing tradition and Shamanism way of life. Made entirely of brass, each form is a shamanic totem symbol. From pillars made entirely of blown glass and casted in brass to elaborate wall installations, the collection showcases a variety of thought-provoking forms that celebrate sacred symbols. Twenty individual sculptures combine together to create a magnificent ‘caravan’ - each component is made individually and can be housed as separate items of décor. A shaman is known to frequently drift into a state of trance and visit the realm of mystical beings – a healer, a storyteller, a medicine man or woman, palm reader, magician and so much more than words cannot define. People often seek to shamans to reveal their totem for a deeper and more powerful look into their soul. Through a spiritual journey of meditation, he or she identifies the symbolic animal with which an individual has a strong simpatico. Klove’s Shamanic Soul range draws inspiration from spiritual guides such birds (eagles, peacocks) and animals (tigers, wolves, monkeys) as well as plants and trees that come together to radiate emotions of healing, power, energy, wisdom and harmony.
About The Collection Exploring various elements associated with the journey of searching and finding one’s totem, the collection connects with nature and all its creations. The main installation, a Gypsy Caravan is made entirely of brass, housing 20 different pieces inspired by shamanic power symbols like tigers, eagles and totems. The caravan comprises of various Totem Pillars made entirely of blown glass and casted in brass. The totem refers to the shamanic belief that any living creature can play the role of a spirit guide. Following the pillars, two Eagle totems stand tall with their wings and Swarovski tassels magnificently spread to showcase its feathers that assist shamans in the healing journey. Eagles are deemed the most sacred heeling tools – a symbol of power and wisdom. At the center of the caravan lies a pipette screen which doubles as a room divider and depicts the light installation of a Wolf, an expression of sharp intelligence and strong instincts, along with a Tiger, referencing back to its independence, confidence and power. The screen symbolizes the process of clearing one’s mind of all distractions and focusing on the present. Smaller shamanic elements are placed throughout the caravan, including the Monkey, a symbol of living in harmony; Birds, the messengers of joy and a Peacock that symbolizes beauty, watchfulness and immorality. These elements are juxtaposed with elegant light designs that compliment the installation – such as an Art Nouveau chandelier, dream catchers, ceiling lights and heart-shaped wall lights. Each individual piece within the caravan flaunts impeccable attention to detail, put together to celebrate the enchanting world of a Shaman. A complete sensory experience playing with form, scale, dimension of light, Klove continues its journey to widen the imagination of those seeking to recreate unique spatial experiences – be it for events, home décor, urban spaces or marvellous architectural dimensions. Different forms of symbols and textures come together in a ‘glass tango’ with a variety of light sources to create surreal effects. www.theciin.com

On Wednesday, 30th October 2019, Araceli Gallego, CEO and Founder of GOSHOPIA, will have a Live Podcast from 4 PM where she will be asked by Mama Earth´s Mariska Neil on how ethical and sustainable fashion can be a reality. On Friday, November 1, 2019, Araceli Gallego will be the moderator of the Panel Discussion at 1 PM where she will be interviewing brands and companies about their journey in venturing to the sustainable fashion business. Lastly, on Saturday, November 2, 2019, Araceli Gallego will be part of another Panel Discussion at 4 PM where she will be one of the panelists tackling issues about circularity and sustainability in fashion. For Araceli: “Sustainability will be the next major battlefield where fashion brands will compete for customers’ attention and loyalty. Unfortunately, so far, the fashion industry is not providing enough sustainable choices for a wiser and more conscious consumer that knows the power of her decisions and wants to protect the environment while being stylish.” Goshopia is curating a broad range of styles and prices of slow, sustainable and socially responsible fashion designers and brands. The idea is to facilitate the conscious consumer when looking for clothes and accessories that have a lower footprint. www.theciin.com

"I believe art and music by nature have the power to connect people of different backgrounds on a more profound level and enhance humanity." www.theciin.com
Please introduce yourself to our readers: I am Sanaz Sotoudeh, a pianist who has appeared in recitals at various venues and festivals across Europe, North America and Middle-East. As a versatile pianist in both solo and collaborative repertoire, I have been performing and collaborating with well-known musicians, artists and orchestras around the world; as well as live performances and interviews on BBC Radio 3 in UK; on Okarina Musique TV in France; Boiler Room TV in UK, and on Abu Dhabi TV.
Tell us about your education: I completed both B.Mus and M.Mus in solo piano performance at the McGill University. post-graduate studies on full-scholarship in solo piano performance at the Royal Academy of Music, studied with UK pianists Julius Drake and Christopher Elton, and attended the Franz-Schubert Institute in Austria and the AcadĂŠmie Francis Poulenc in France.
Who or what inspired you to pursue a career in music? I was self motivated to pursue my career in music for the most part. I love performing and playing piano. It's the biggest joy in my life.
Tell us about your earliest beginnings. When did you first start playing piano? My love for piano began at home. My mom played the piano when I was a baby, and she put me in a music academy in Tehran. I remember the first and only instrument I chose to play was the piano.
Who or what have been the most important influences on your musical life and career? My move to London was life-changing in my musical life and career. I experienced living and working in a city rich in art and music history, and worked with great musicians and attended great performances which were the hugest influences on my life.
What have been the greatest challenges of your career so far? As a woman from Iran/Middle East for most of my life, I lived and created my career in the west outside my country. Throughout my career, I have striven to reform the image of my background culture and people towards the western world. I worked very hard to become very good at what I do to be able to display strongly the rich image of my culture and heritage, which has as much to offer as western culture. I experienced both Eastern and Western cultures, and believe that both could learn from each other. This was the challenge in my career. November, 2019
067
What's the most beautiful piano you've ever played? Giving me a full sense of satisfaction and joy to play was a Fazioli piano, a hand-made Italian piano.
What's your favourite piece to play before an audience? S. Rachmaninoff's piano concerto no. 2.
Who are your favourite composers? Bach, Beethoven, Liszt, Philip Glass, Loris Tjeknovarian.
What is behind your creative process? I believe in living life with passion, and I was always passionate about performing and music. I communicate my heart and stories to everyone through my performances. Performing music gives you a sense of fulfilment because you have to put everything in you at its disposal. I am also passionate about the poetry and traditional music of my country; I always promote the music of Iran as well as Middle Eastern composers, who inspire me, by performing their works. I believe art and music by nature have the power to connect people of different backgrounds on a more profound level and enhance humanity. This was the message behind my creativity and performances. Your career is the tool towards your expression.
How does your creativity reflect in your piano playing and how does it reflect in your everyday life?
068
I was curious about different cultures and people's lives; and all forms of arts have inspired me in my performances and creativity. The great thing about my music career is that I continuously meet amazing artists. I travel for my performances, and they have been very exciting experiences for me. It's an unconventional way of living and needs lots of courage, but I chose to live with passion and do what I love. As Daniel Barenboim said: "We have to look at music as something that is not just an escape from life, but something through which we can learn about life".
What advice would you give to aspiring pianists who want to perform as a career? It's not easy, and there is so much competition out there to make a career as a pianist, especially in classical music. I suggest you find your own niche as an individual and artist. You need to have a strong inspiration and message which you want to convey to the world and find a way to make it heard. Live life to the full, the more you find out about life, the richer your music-making will be.
Do you have a favourite concert venue to perform in and why? I have two favourites at the moment, Persepolis in Shiraz and Hollywood Bowl in Los Angles. Persepolis is one of the world's most ancient and beautiful historical places. It has a natural setting of an outdoor amphitheatre. When I visited Persepolis, I was overwhelmed by its beauty and aura. I saw a video of a concert by my favourite pianist, Arthur Rubinstein, at Persepolis, and it has always been a dream place to perform. I found the Hollywood Bowl such a beautiful venue on top of Hollywood Hill. I would love to perform with the LA Symphony Orchestra there one day.
Where have you performed so far? I have performed in Spain, France, Austria, London, around the UK, Iran, Dubai, Oman, Montreal, Vancouver, and Abu Dhabi.
What is your most memorable concert experience? The multimedia live performance at Faรงade Festival in Vancouver. Projected on the faรงade of the Vancouver art gallery, colours and shapes moved to the sound of my performance. Also, my live performance at BBC Radio 3 Studio in London was so special to me. I was performing at the space where all the legendary and famous musicians I have known had performed. www.theciin.com
Your message for us at CiiN? I'm happy to see such a lifestyle magazine as CiiN in the Middle East, which supports culture and promotes artists from the Middle East around the world. It's great to promote artists and musicians and opens the path for more collaboration between both Western and Eastern cultures which will help to create peace and unity between the two worlds.

An avid world traveler and style influencer, Sofía is the author of the Assouline published book, “Travels with Chufy,” where she highlights off-the-radar hideaways and secluded retreats where those in the know seek unforgettable experiences. With a keen eye and love for fashion and travel, Sofía has collaborated with several magazines and brands, working on special projects and often served as a brand ambassador. This list includes Chanel, Valentino, Rodarte, Chloe, Michael Kors, Globe Trotter, Jason Wu and Vogue, Condé Nast Traveler, Harper’s Bazaar,, Nowness, among others. Sofia has teamed up with The Luxury Collection, a unique ensemble of more than 110 iconic luxury hotels in more than 30 countries, for an exclusive capsule collection inspired by Emirati art and culture. The 54-piece collection, CHUFY x The Luxury Collection: Dubai, is inspired by the Emirate’s vibrant culture, authentic local experiences including a desert safari, falconry, and visits to traditional old souks, as well as the indigenous discoveries Sofía made along the way. The design narrative of the readyto-wear line is centered around the UAE’s national animal, the oryx, a local antelope species, and is influenced by the natural surroundings of Al Maha, a Luxury Collection Desert Resort & Spa and Grosvenor House, a Luxury Collection Hotel. The collection includes an array of ready-to-wear separates, with sumptuous fabrics in a rich color palette. Lush greens, browns, and reds are mixed with golden embroidery and vibrant oranges, yellows and blues to reflect the striking desert landscapes. Iconic Emirati motifs, such as oryx, camels, and palm trees appear in the playful patterns of the clothing. The exclusive collection features a range of pieces perfectly suited for the balmy climate of Dubai, including lightweight blouses, kaftans and tunics, and flowing pants and jumpsuits that are perfectly suited for days spent exploring in the sun, while ankle grazing skirts and dresses, and coats and sweaters in lighter knots can be layered for the cooler desert nights. As part of her inspiration journey throughout Dubai, Sofía experienced both Al Maha, a Luxury Collection Desert Resort & Spa and Grosvenor House, a Luxury Collection Hotel. Grosvenor House is located within the heart of the city along the renowned Dubai Marina. The hotel features two exquisite towers with stunning views of the marina, has an array of indigenous culinary experiences, and offers exlusive access to a private beach. On the other end of the spectrum is Al Maha, which is an exclusive desert oasis nestled among the lush palm groves, emerald canopies and iconic sand dunes of the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. The hotel offers secluded tranquility and views of the sweeping plains and Hajar Mountain massif, which allowed Sofía to connect with the nature of The UAE. Al Maha offers an array of activities that Sofía tried, including horse rides, camel treks, and nature walks along the sand dunes, as well as signature desert safaris and classes to practice the distinguished arts of archery and falconry.

MCM SPRING/SUMMER 2020 FROM MUNICH DISCO TO BERLIN TECHNO For Spring/Summer 2020, MCM is one with the sound. Global Creative Officer Dirk Schoenberger, in his first collection, honors seminal moments in music, simultaneously charting the MCM journey from the brand’s birth in Munich in 1976 to its reinvention in Berlin today. Schoenberger synthesizes the styles, looks, textures, moods, and attitudes of Munich’s disco heyday with those of Berlin’s contemporary clubland. Designed with balance and subtlety, the resulting looks evoke modernity rather than nostalgia.
of contemporary Berlin club culture. Both subversive and the status quo, this MCM collection makes rules only to break them.
Disco and techno serve as cultural touchstones for MCM, the former speaking to the brand’s founding at the height of the jetset Munich scene, and the latter providing a soundtrack for today, as MCM makes its global home in Berlin and looks ahead. By rooting his collection deep within this biography, Schoenberger casts a spotlight on the authentic qualities—music, culture, expression, connection, freedom—that have established MCM as a global pioneer in new-school luxury.
The iconic MCM logo motif is both shrunken and super-sized, appearing as a repeating pattern across tracksuits, blouson jackets, shorts, and scarves. The logo is at times completely bisected yet still reads loud and clear. Leopard print, a disco mainstay, takes on a softer, more floral-inspired feel, appearing across hoodies, coats, bags, and shoes. The disco ball is abstractly interpreted as a glittering half-moon shape emblazoned on sweaters and totes. Quilting patterns add rich
“I am inspired by the openness of MCM, its ability to embrace a wide range of influences. MCM is a truly modern brand in line with so many significant cultural moments over the past decades. To tell its story while upholding the standards of sustainability, diversity and inclusion—this was my goal and my vision for the season.” Dirk Schoenberger, October 2019
texture and optical interest. A tribute to MCM’s origins, the new Disco Diamond print reinterprets the iconic Visetos pattern with colorful diamond shapes that echo light refracted from a disco ball.
Across women’s and men’s, the looks in the collection pair construction (tailoring) and deconstruction (sportswear). Exaggerated flared denim trousers are worn with lean, clean leather jackets and shimmering tech silk shirts in vibrant red and turquoise. Easy A-line coats make a statement in glossy red leather and neat double-breasted suits in red or black do double duty from office to club and back again.
078
True to Schoenberger’s style, the MCM collection avoids a literal approach, instead freely clashing shapes, fabrics, and colorways that evoke the two distinct eras. The glamour of disco meets techno’s irreverent edge. Opulent self-expression meets stylish rebellion. Designs marry disco’s vivid colors and clean lines with techno’s renegade cool. Utilitarian and military elements are then added to bring a modern relevance. Silhouettes are long, voluminous, and cocooning. The color palette pairs essential black with flashes of primary color and shimmering metallics. Neutrals, meanwhile, reference the unofficial uniforms
Schoenberger’s dialogue between tailoring and sportswear extends to accessories as well, as iconic MCM shapes, such as the tambourine bag, are reinterpreted and given a sportier, hands-free function, creating a new-gen messenger bag. Elsewhere glossy, quilted, textured fabrics meet golden chain straps; structured box bags offer instant elegance; and backpacks are pushed to new frontiers of stylish utility. Footwear goes genderless with the essential block-heel Chelsea boot—a contradiction to the sportier elements of the collection. And the all-important sneaker is endlessly iterated upon in exciting new colors, cuts, and textures. www.theciin.com

"My most important achievement is feeling in love and in sync with the audience and my surroundings."
Lulwa, 31, has crafted a busy acting career in the last five years even though she has never been to acting school. She has acted in many TV dramas and on stage, helping to spread awareness of political and social issues. But her biggest aim is to act in movies, just like her international inspiration Meryl Streep. www.theciin.com

How did you start in acting, and what is your experience to date? I began acting in 2014 in a commercial for Zain Telecommunications. Since then, I've had several acting experiences for TV drama, and stage for children and adults. Whether it's stage or TV, we always choose topics that concern political or social issues and deliver them through entertaining approaches to spread awareness. As I haven't gotten into an acting academy, these experiences have taught me a lot, and I try to deliver better every time.
What are your top three acting projects so far, and why? My very first TV show was Umna Ruwaihat Al Janna starring the amazing actress Suad Abdalla. Second was Kalam Asfar, a vital show which took on critical social issues, but my best work was the 1950's inspired Dofaat Al Qahera: the music, fashion, colours, and script were very poetic and beautiful. The acceptance from the audience was overwhelming.
What are the best things about being an actress? 082
The best thing about acting is that my colleagues and I get to choose important social and political issues and put them under the spotlight. This has helped me become more aware of what's going on in the world. Take the recent Joker movie, for instance. Most people have probably never heard of 'pathological laughter'. I know I hadn't until the movie came along.
What are the hardest things about acting? One of the most challenging is going through a series of emotions within seconds and keeping up with the pace of understanding your character.
Who inspires you in your acting career? Locally and internationally? Locally, appreciation goes to everyone around me, each colleague has inspired me in some way, and one of the most influential is Rawan AlMahdi. Internationally, Meryl Streep for her many wonderful works in musicals, drama, fantasy and other genres.
Advice for young people wanting to start acting? Pay close attention to details because they matter and make a big difference.

How do you prepare for a role? I study the script thoroughly and live in my character's shoes - her movements, feelings and the way she deals with things.
What do you do away from acting? I like poetry to take me away from the world of work temporarily until the next role. Sometimes I go out with friends and family to spend quality time together.
Hardest scenes you've ever filmed? Those that include shifting from one emotional state to another, such as suddenly switching from being happy to sad, and vice versa.
What is your dream acting job that you'd like to do one day? I know I'd thrive as an international star. I want to go as far as acting in Disney and superhero movies and true stories. I know I'd have so much fun doing them.
What is your biggest achievement? The most important is feeling in love and in sync with the audience and my surroundings. But I am aiming for bigger and, inshallah, I will.
Favourite Sport/Music? Badminton. Any music as long as it has a nice groove and lyrics.
Favourite Travel Destination? London for musicals, Antalya (Turkey) for activities, Europe for shopping, and several others for relaxation.
Favourite TV Show? I like to watch documentaries and sitcoms.
Favourite Food? Seafood.
All-time favourite movie? Wizard of Oz.
Your message for us at CiiN magazine? Thanks, guys for letting me share this with you. You're doing a great job. November, 2019

"Each photoshoot is unique...I see every model as an art piece that I want to reveal in a picture." Despite winning international awards for a short movie, Lebanon-based Eliane developed a passion for fashion photography. She revels in the moment, with every photoshoot an opportunity to reflect her art, and produce uplifting images.

Please introduce yourself to our readers. I am Eliane Mallat, and I've been a professional fashion photographer for eight years. Tell us about your education. I graduated, first, from Al Kafaat University with a bachelor degree in Radio TV. I won three prizes for a short movie: a first at my university, another first at the Monaco Film Festival, and a second at Australia's short movie awards. When did you first become interested in photography? What sparked it, and when did you decide it was what you were going to do? After graduation, I couldn't progress my dream as a director, so I sought a less expensive tool for my art. I found my passion for photography, and since I was fashionoriented, I began shooting models and fashion-related shoots. . Were you educated in photography, or are you self-taught? I was both self-taught and studied Radio and TV.
098
How would you describe your photographic vision? What kind of feel do you try and create in your photos? I always try to reflect what my client wants to project, a sexy look or a more formal mood. It depends on who I'm photographing for, but I try to harmonize the elements, colours and lights in the picture to reflect the sought-after outcome. It's like a custom art mood depending on the model. Describe a typical shoot. Firstly, I get to know my clients, understand their style, personality, and we discuss the location and theme, so I can build a picture in my head and get a mental start on how I want the photo session to be. We settle on a date and on photoshoot day I introduce the photoshoot as a fun activity so that the model will be in a good mood. That's how my images tend to be uplifting, and the models always love the results, because I capture 'happy her' in the photo. How much time do you spend taking photos versus retouching them? It depends on how many outfits and clients, but a shoot can take about 2 to 3 hours, editing can take around 30 minutes per photo. Who would you like to work with most? I love to work with professional models so I can get a perfect shot due to their professional approach. You can only have one lens for the rest of your life, what is it? I am a big fan of two, either the 70-200mm Canon or the 80mm Canon! How do you keep yourself motivated and your photography fresh? Each client has their own character. Each photoshoot is unique, with a different style reflected from the external art of my client as I see every model as an art piece that I want to reveal in a picture. www.theciin.com

You specialize in fashion and portraits. What do you find so fascinating about people? The individualism, the different type of cultures and characters you meet in this upbeat business. What are the key ingredients to successful portrait photography? The key is getting familiar with the client, trying to put the model in her happy mood, and, of course, a fine artsy ratio of background, model, elements, lights, shades and perception. What are the biggest challenges of working in Lebanon? There's a challenge in every type of business. Still, I like to see challenge as a progress checkpoint even though the problem with Lebanon is that its economic issues affect all business. Talk us through your compositional process – where do you start? Firstly, I adjust my equipment depending on the place, then I match the outfits with the backgrounds, hype up the model with music and then start the session.
100
What type of camera, lenses and lighting equipment do you use? It depends on the shoot, but I usually use the mrk4 5d Canon, a wireless Godox flash for outdoors and a light reflector. Also, the 70-200mm lens or the 24-105mm lens. How much equipment do you typically bring to a photoshoot? For an outdoor photoshoot, I use a reflector, flash and my camera. Of all the images you've made so far in your career, which is your favourite, and why? My favourite was a photoshoot at Kfardebian mountain in Lebanon. The location is amazing for photoshoots, the models were so professional, and the view was perfect for a great result. Could you please share Happiest Moment in your photography life? The happiest was when my friends staged a big birthday surprise on a photoshoot with a cake and balloons. It was unexpected. Apart from photography, what are your hobbies and interests? I love hiking, camping, yoga, reading, and playing videogames. Your message for CiiN. I admire what you are accomplishing and the fashion sense that you have. I also like the name of the magazine and wish you the best of luck!

La Prairie Commissions New Art Installation from Swiss Architect Mario Botta On the occasion of the launch of its latest Platinum Rare Collection innovation in China, Swiss luxury skincare brand La Prairie commissioned renowned Swiss architect Mario Botta to create a unique Archisculpture inspired by the origin of life. After a first collaboration with La Prairie revealed at Art Basel Miami Beach in 2018, Mr Botta pays tribute to these origins through a new, ambitious installation. This Archisculpture echoes Mr Botta’s original creation in a new form. The circular, dome-like pavilion, constructed specifically for the 2019 edition of West Bund Art & Design in Shanghai, allows the piece to fully encompass participants in a contemplative, immersive experience. “This marks our third year of partnership with West Bund, one of the most important art world rendez-vous. We believe it is the perfect platform for La Prairie to engage with the world of art in China,” said Greg Prodromides, Chief Marketing Officer of La Prairie Group. “In developing La Prairie’s latest innovation – Platinum Rare Cellular Life-Lotion – the Swiss scientists at La Prairie sought to pinpoint the origin of rejuvenation, to isolate and capture the power at the heart of the rejuvenation process. It is this life force that inspired us to enter into this very special artistic collaboration with Mario Botta. We were so exhilarated with our first collaboration with Mario that we wanted to offer West Bund visitors the opportunity to experience his interpretation of the origin of life in a new setting that creates a unique context,” he added. Designing a full-scale, circular structure that is not only meant to be observed and admired from the exterior, but also to be entered into and experienced from its core, Mr Botta has succeeded in capturing the essence of where life begins in this rounded structure – the purest, most absolute of forms. The sleek vertical wooden slats, aligned in organic, feminine curves, invite the viewer to explore what lies within. Once inside, the participants experience the domed space as a respite from the outside world – a place where time stands still. Encouraged to move through the space, the viewer becomes part of the art. A soundscape designed especially for the installation surrounds the participant with a pulsating, muted audio composition that enhances the contemplative quality of
www.theciin.com
109 the interior. “I wanted this all-encompassing moment to be a mutual one, exchanged in a quiet, personal fashion,” Mr Botta said. “Life begins in the most cosseted, intimate of spaces, and I wanted to offer the viewer that experience again – to offer the opportunity to reflect on the origins of life,” he continued. “The goal with this iteration is the same as the first Archisculpture – it is humankind in confrontation with a manmade element, a manufactum, an oeuvre. At West Bund Art & Design, in order to highlight this work of art, we placed it in a neutral environment. We emphasise the difference between the natural wood and the neutral environment to heighten the emotion one can experience,” he explained. Mr Botta’s stirring construction combines the Bauhaus codes – so closely associated with La Prairie’s own design aesthetic – to offer a completely singular, uncommon, enveloping experience that underscores the origins of life. Indeed, Mr Botta’s body of work speaks to a close affinity with the School of Bauhaus, displaying clear influences from Le Corbusier, Carlo Scarpa and Louis Kahn. The leader of the “Ticino Tendenza”, or “Ticino Style” – characterised by precise, formal and hand-crafted qualities – Mr Botta has secured a place for it among the main aesthetic traditions of Swiss Contemporary architecture. Examples of this approach can be seen in the Jean Tinguely Museum in Basel, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Samsung Museum of Art in Seoul and the Watari-Um Art Gallery in Tokyo. His work represents a unique symbiosis of rationalism, modernism, an awareness of history, an homage to the surrounding landscape and an emphasis on the poetic nature of the construction. Just as La Prairie emphasises the beauty of design and potent efficacy in each of its creations, Mr Botta’s work is the quintessence of form and function. The Archisculpture will be unveiled at West Bund Art & Design from November 7 to 10, 2019 as part of La Prairie’s continuing partnership with one of the world’s leading Modern and contemporary art fairs.

UNFAMILIAR FACES: Beaded Portraits of Egyptian Women by Dina Hafez will run from 4th to 30th November 2019 UNFAMILIAR FACES: Beaded Portraits of Egyptian Women is a new body of work by Egyptian artist Dina Hafez that will be showcased at Kulture House. This pop-up exhibition which will run from 4th- 30th November, is a celebration of beadwork and how it has been an integral part of Egyptian history. The launch event will take place on Thursday 14th November from 12pm to 2pm, when the artist herself will also be on hand to discuss how design can boost the preservation of cultural heritage. Art, design and uniqueness run through the veins of Kulture House and supporting artists is a pivotal part of the Kulture House mantra. The limited time UNFAMILIAR FACES pop-up exhibition will offer a vibrant insight into the ancient art of beadwork and how it has been weaved through the very essence of Egypt. Beads are used abundantly in daily life in the creation of jewellery and garments, as well as religious ceremonies and celebrations. They are versatile and add such beauty to whatever they adorn. Designer, Dina Hafez is working with a craft that has been passed down for centuries, modernizing it to create contemporary pieces that explore heritage and identity. By layering vintage photographs, graphic design, and bead embroidery, UNFAMILIAR FACES questions the connection to heritage and how it is remembered. www.theciin.com

In 2006 Hege Thorson Nordskar and Helge Nordskar found this remote mountain farm where no people had lived for many years. They broke up from a well established family life in Lommedalen, and started the massive project to restore and build new houses to create a unique arena for visitors and for animals. Since 2011 an increasing number of people have found their way to Glittersjå, to experience the atmosphere and all the animals living peacefully around the old loghouses. And not least to hear the story about Hege and Helge who grew up in Oslo and first met in the kindergarden in 1959. They took both part in the building of Langedrag Naturpark, they established a souvenir company, produced the official mascots for the winter Olympics at Lillehammer in 1994 and ended up here at Glittersjå, after four grown up children had left home. Horses, dogs, goats, kettle, hares, ducks, old Norwegian short tailed sheep… a beautiful and traditional farm for both adults and children. All elks live inside a fence on an area of 5 hectars. Here they feed on organic pastures and in the pine forest they also find lingon and blueberry bushes. A big load of willow branches is the favourite eating for the elk. Do you want to cuddle with the bunnies? Would you like to feed the elks? Can you find the bears in the Bear Foret? The farm has an extensive program of activities to spend the day. There are a lot of beatiful bears carved from largest pine tres. You can follow a trail through the bear forest and see if you can discover all of them! The cozy cafeteria offers homemade sweet cinnamon buns, sandwiches and cakes. They make waffles from the eggs of the farm, and serve them warm with fresh cream and lovely jam sided by a warm cup of coffee.

According to your monthly horoscope, November 2019 is the time every year when your interactions with others intensify, dear Aries, as the Scorpio Sun travels in the part of your chart where you merge your energies with others on every level – psychologically, philosophically, intellectually, and financially. What adds to this powerhouse energy this year is the cycle of Mars, your ruling planet also in intense, magical Scorpio after the 11th. Be prepared for the urge to merge to continue as the Scorpio New Moon on the 12th begs the question: What do you most want from your relationships and what are you willing to invest to get it?
You’re having a ball now, aren’t you, oh lover of relationships, teamwork and cooperation, with Jupiter, the planet of growth and expansion, travelling in your sign. If you’re cashing in now, it’s because you deserve it. You’re reaping what you’ve sown over the last 12 years as it appears that everyone is your raving fan. And with Venus, your guardian angel planet, in Libra until the 22nd when she flows into powerful Scorpio, people are coming out of the woodwork to support you in making your dreams come true. Yes, everything you touch can turn to gold because you believe it. Of all the signs in the zodiac, you recognize the value and the gift in all relationships and now’s the time for you to reaffirm that every match is made in heaven.
Remember the story of Ferdinand the bull? All he wanted to do was sit under the cork tree and smell the roses – until one day he sat on a bumblebee and they thought he must be ferocious enough to fight the bull in the ring in Madrid. With the Scorpio Sun in your house of relationships, joined by Mars, the planet of passion and desire in Scorpio on the 11th and the New Moon in Scorpio on the 12th, you may feel like that bull who sat on a bumblebee. Normally, you abhor confrontation, you peace-loving bull, and it may seem that your relationships are egging you on – but the truth is that underneath that desire for peace at any price your soul wants greater intimacy and the only way to have greater intimacy is to be willing to dance in the fire.
128
This is your month of rebirth, healing, regeneration and maximum intensity, dear Scorpio. Whether you express the scorpion, snake or phoenix/eagle energy of Scorpio is up to you to decide. And this November 2019 is particularly powerful for you as Mars, your guardian angel planet of desire and action, joins the Sun in Scorpio on the 11th. Expect things to really heat up after the 11th as you become one with your passion. And when you’re focused on your heart’s desire, there’s no one more focused, determined and relentless than you. Passion is your middle name and Mars in your sign, which only occurs every two years, just doubles the pleasure and doubles the fun.
As the adaptable, versatile and sometimes scattered and flighty air sign of the zodiac, you’ve been wondering what hit you as life has been fraught with power struggles lately, with Pluto, the planet of power, dancing opposite your Sun in Gemini. And you’ve been learning to surrender, haven’t you? With the Sun, Mars and the New Moon all in Scorpio on the 12th, it’s time for you to transform the day-to-day quality of your life. If this intense energy seems to be taking its toll on your health and general sense of well-being, look at what you eat, how much sleep you get, if you exercise on a regular basis and decide to make changes in these areas so that you create a vibrant, healthy mind/body/spirit.
There’s always the potential for lots of behind the scenes activity in November 2019, dear Archer, as the Scorpio planets flow in your 12th house of dreams, inspiration, spirituality and your unconscious. And very likely it will be easy for you to share what’s going on as Mercury, the planet of communication, cycles into your sign on the 2nd where it will be until January 10, 2020, because of its retrograde journey beginning on the 30th. Wherever you need clarity and direction in your life, ask for answers in your dreams, especially around the New Moon in Scorpio on the 12th, because while the body sleeps the soul never does. And with Jupiter, your guardian angel planet now in Libra, the sign of teamwork and cooperation, people are coming out of nowhere to support you and your process.
It’s not easy being you, you say, dear crab? There’s no question that you’ve had to be more disciplined and responsible for your feelings and your emotional well-being. With Saturn, the planet of responsibility and discipline, in Cancer since August, you’ve had quite a lesson in self-parenting and self-nurturing – not to mention taking responsibility for EVERYTHING you feel without making it someone’s else’s fault. You know now, dear Moon child, that you’re just as capable of abandoning you as anyone else. With Saturn retrograding on the 8th, you’ll have one more opportunity to create those internal structures that truly support who you are now. Remember, a playpen is an appropriate, safe structure to protect a child, but that same playpen is confining and restrictive to an adult. Saturn’s message is that you have what it takes to be your own mommy and daddy.
While you usually know where you’re going, your path up the mountain may not be all that clear as Saturn, your ruling planet, begins its 5 month retrograde cycle on the 8th. The monthly horoscope advises you to take a long hard look at the quality of your relationships, both personal and business and if they are pulling their weight. This is a great time to set boundaries and ask for what you want. And be prepared that your partners will be letting you know, in no uncertain terms, what they need from you. In your career, which is most important to you, you may be ready for a raise, a promotion, a new job or all three as Jupiter’s expansive energy traverses your 10th house. You’re ready to step up and assume greater responsibility and if you can’t do it in your current job, you may decide to look for a new one and a new and better job may find you because you deserve it.
While you are normally gregarious, fun-loving and outgoing by nature, you may be feeling more private, with-drawn, introspective and reflective, with the Sun and Mars in Scorpio cycling in the house of your physical and emotional foundations. This is the time to entertain yourself in the privacy of your home and celebrate the miracle of your inner life. It would be good to undertake a project in your home so that you have a physical outlet for the intense, powerful energy of Mars, the planet of desire and action, in Scorpio. If there is friction at home or underlying tension, try to remember when you felt similar energies as a child, because the 4th house is also your past – and if you’re willing to fearlessly face what may be up with the courage of the lion, you will create an amazing present out of that past.
You may feel like you’re waking up after a long sleep as Uranus, your guardian angel planet of awakening, breakthrough and rebellion, moves forward again on the 11th after its 5 month tailspin. It’s time for magic in your career this month as the Scorpio planets travel in your 10th house. You feel a powerful sense of mission, especially when Mars cycles into Scorpio on the 11th and the New Moon in Scorpio occurs on the 12th. You are the humanitarian of the zodiac and it’s time to express your uniqueness, originality and inventiveness in your job and move beyond all restrictions and eliminate what’s not working once Uranus moves forward. There are numerous opportunities for powerful alliances now with people where you can be of mutual benefit to each other.
What a ride you’ve had for the last year as you expanded on every level possible, perhaps even your waistline? Mercury, your guardian angel planet, leaves the focused, determined, penetrating Scorpio energy and journeys into optimistic, exuberant, enthusiastic Sagittarius on the 4th and then retrogrades on the 30th until December 20. The message of Mercury in fiery Scorpio is to lighten up on yourself, dear Virgo. Quit being so anal about everything having to be just so. You can miss the miracle of life if you’re so focused on every little detail. With all the Sagittarius planets in your 3rd house of communication and Mercury in philosophical Scorpio, you’ll find the words to see the bigger picture and communicate with greater power, meaning and purpose at the Full Moon in Gemini on the 26th.
As reported by the November 2019 horoscope, your head may be spinning as you step up to who you really are, this month. You are in a creative reawakening and are coming into your own. The dazzling planet Uranus puts you at the center of divine change which may also feel like your own personal revolution so that you can discover the real you. Reinvent yourself and revise your personal life itinerary. More than ever before, you need to be you and do what you want to do in your own unique way. Normally gentle, compassionate and self-sacrificing, it will surprise you how easy it will be to blast anyone or anything out of sight and mind that prevents you from expressing your inventiveness and individuality. And whatever you give up or lose will be replaced by a rare cosmic gift, your independence – something to treasure forever.
