KENZO is pleased to announce the opening of its inaugural US flagship in New York City, the first KENZO boutique in the world designed by Creative Director Felipe Oliveira Baptista.
8
Located in Soho at the corner of Grand and Mercer streets, the new and dynamic concept of Felipe Oliveira Baptista is housed inside a historic cast-iron façade building emblematic of the downtown neighborhood. Inside a series of reimagined white metal scaffoldings are reflected throughout the space’s floor to ceiling mirrors serving as a both a launchpad for the House’s newest collections and collaborations as well as a destination for the brand’s global community. Greeting visitors as they arrive is a dedicated space for revolving artistic installations debuting with a vintage television presentation and complimented by original 1970’s leather furniture and geometric plexiglass displays. Arrays of plants and vegetation punctuate the metal structures evoking the House’s DNA and commitment to the natural world as well as Oliveira Baptista’s focus on organic materials. This first US Flagship is envisioned as a continuously evolving ecosystem where artistic installations and community gatherings are delivered alongside the brand’s newest offerings creating a unique experience and that is distinctly KENZO. www.theciin.com

New York VC Modus Capital, Invests In Middle East Based Women-Led Tech Startup, Play:Date
12
Play:Date, a Middle East based interactive mobile application, that helps parents build their child’s social circle, has secured an investment partnership with Modus Capital, a hybrid venture capital firm, headquartered in New York. This boost of funding will support Play:Date in their journey to further grow the app, by primarily increasing its presence in the Middle East, followed by international expansion plans. Modus Capital will actively assist Play:Date, by not only investing in them, but also aiding in tech support, management, investor relations, and overall leadership support to become globally competitive.
is a key component of Play:Date’s mission, therefore there is a strong focus on providing families with discount deals, product seeding and complimentary events. The app features various vouchers and offers, exclusive to Play:Date members, giving brands access to a direct channel to connect with their customer base for continued exposure and brand recognition. The app also hosts regular playdate tours at various play areas, and virtually during Covid-19. After three years of development and successful market testing in the UAE and the USA, Play:Date is available for download on iOS and Android.
Shamim Kassibawi, Founder & CEO of Play:Date, said, “The opportunity to work with Modus Capital poses exciting expansion opportunities for Play:Date. We decided to work with them as they are not your typical venture capitalist’s that are solely focused on investing, instead they actively assist entrepreneurs by supporting with strategies and highgrowth prospects. Additionally, we required a firm that had presence not only in the region but also in the US, as it is currently our biggest market outside the UAE.” Kareem Elsirafy, Managing Partner, Modus Capital, said, “We're ecstatic to add Play:Date to the Modus Capital portfolio, and support them in their next stage of growth and international expansion. They are tackling a major connectivity and discovery pain-point for early parents that we see a major demand for in both MENA and US markets, and they're doing so in the most innovative ways. Play:Date as a female founded and predominantly employed company, a cornerstone of Shamim's startup culture-building, was also a major decisive factor in our decision to invest. We're keen to support socially impactful companies and Play:Date fit the criteria on multiple levels.” Play:Date allows parents to engage with each other based on the interests and personalities of their children, further expanding a parent’s network within the community. Moreover, giving back to the community

rubber sole. Shifting to the details: the silhouette features an abundance of personal touches, including “JH” and “Superstar” stitching in Jonah’s handwriting, and a lion embroidered on the back of the tongue, serving as an ode to one of his tattoos. The instantly recognizable shell-toe sneaker is then complimented by subtle-yet-unorthodox three stripes details. Finally, the sneaker is capped off with a set of fat laces. Merging nostalgic references with forward-thinking design cues, the Jonah Hill Superstar will be available globally on July 11th at adidas.com/Jonah_hill. Throughout its existence, the iconic Superstar has been worn by teams and crews who push culture forward. adidas Originals has collaborated with one of culture’s most game-changing creative forces, Jonah Hill, to present a striking new take on the legendary silhouette. The Jonah Hill Superstar creates an organic link to Jonah’s own childhood influences, inspirations, and points of reference. Speaking on the design inspiration Jonah explains the creative process and his personal relationship to the silhouette: “I started thinking back to all the experiences I had growing up while wearing them, and tried to make my fantasy version of what I would have wanted when I first wore them.” Inspired by Jonah’s upbringing on the West Coast during the 1990s, the collaborative Superstar sneaker honors the multidisciplinary creative’s love for the original silhouette while adding his own aesthetics to it. Blending sophisticated lines with homemade aesthetics, adidas Originals and Jonah Hill seek to evoke a premium feeling whilst highlighting a nonconformist edge. Shining a light on the silhouette’s timeless style, the collaborative Superstar is made-up in a core-white full-grain leather upper which is sat atop an off-white

RUBIES
Gemfields’ final film explores July’s birthstone
15
Gemfields is proud to announce the release of the fourth and final instalment in its short film series devoted to coloured gemstones. Fittingly, this one is all about the ruby – the vibrant birthstone for the month of July. Representing passion, prosperity and protection – early warriors would even carry them into battle – rubies hold a special place in the hearts of many, their fiery red colour forever associated with the sultry days of summer. It’s hard to believe such dynamic gemstones lay dormant beneath the earth’s surface for 500 million years. The rarest of gemstones, rubies are also frequently the most valuable, costing more per carat than colourless diamonds. “There is no coloured gemstone that fuels passion more than the ruby,” says author and fine jewellery specialist Joanna Hardy. As a world-leading supplier of responsibly sourced coloured gemstones, Gemfields has been mining rubies from the Montepuez mine in Mozambique – situated on the world’s largest ruby deposit, deep in the heart of Africa – since 2012. Hi Chantelle, Many thanks for your time for this interview.
How is the Covid-19 situation where you are and how did it affect your personally?
I’m based in Los Angeles so being a good 4 months into lockdown (and with no foreseeable end-date) it’s been quite the year. The most difficult thing for me is not being able to see my family back in Australia.
How did the idea of your new single “Connect” and how difficult was it to release it during the pandemic? I wrote Connect during the first month of the lockdown. It’s a sort of call-to-action rallying people to be their best selves and connect deeper with not only themselves but asp with others, and in a time when we need it most.
Tell us about the video for the single and its idea as well as what difficulties you had in shooting the video for it.
My husband Scott and I shot the music video at our home. Since we were limited somewhat in terms of not being able to use an outside set or other actors, we created a loose narrative of me being home alone, feeling the boredom and mundaneness of isolation and finding a way to get through my day by reading, meditating, snacking, being lazy on the couch with my dog, and ultimately changing the vibe by putting records on and dancing.
Tell us about your family and your fondest childhood memories.
Mum was born in Italy and Dad was born in Burma so needless to say, I was raised in a very culturally diverse household. Some of my best memories are from being on stage singing with my 2 sisters. I remember one time, I was around 13 or so, we were singing at an outdoor event and it was raining hard that day so the audience was sparse. Our younger sister forgot one of her lines and since we’d always told each other “if you get forget, just make it up and nobody will know the difference”, she indeed made up a line that sounded so silly and awkward when she sang it that the second my big sister and I made eye contact we burst into laughter, on stage. Lucky not many people witnessed our little on stage debacle, but it still makes me laugh to this day.
How and when did you develop the love for music?
Well my Dad was a musician and it was rare in our house growing up that music wouldn’t be blaring from a nearby radio or record player, so gravitating towards music felt natural.
When and how did you get into acting?
When I was a kid, whenever I’d read a book I loved I’d write monologues for the characters I wanted to be and then read them out in an American accent in front of the mirror, pretending I was in a movie. I was also really good at faking being sick so I could stay home from school, ha, so I think Acting is something I’ve always loved but never really understood it was an actual career path until I starred in my first musical in grade school. we performed a two-week season at our local theater company and I was hooked.
Please briefly describe your journey so far.
Big question...how much time do we have, haha. My journey thus far has been a blessed one. Lots of incredible experiences, relationships, career opportunities, lessons... My mum always says “Where there’s life, there’s hope”, so every day I wake up I’m hopeful & grateful.

We are curious to know about your upcoming movie ME & MY LEFT BRAIN, tell us a little about the story and your role.
The film is really cute- it’s a rom-com about a guy, Arthur, who throughout the course of one long night, completely obsesses over where he stands with a girl he’s been on several dates with, Helen, played by me. I truly loved my entire experience of working on Me & My Left Brain...great cast & director, and working in my home country is always a treat. The movie just came out on Amazon Prime and it’s been fun hearing the reactions from my friends here in the states. Aussie humor, similar to British comedy, is more dry and slightly more raunchy than what American audiences are used to. Let's just say there are a few cringeworthy scenes to look out for ;)
I am personally a fan of Burmese food, specially khao suey and Hinjo. What is your favourite Burmese food?
I’m so impressed!! Not a lot of people know where Burma is let alone the cuisine. One of my favorites that my mum made a lot when we were growing up is Ohn no kawukswe, which is a coconut based chicken noddle soup. It’s delicious and my mouth is currently watering :)
Best thing about being an actress?
20 The process. I’m fascinated with learning about people and what makes them tick. By the end of a shoot, if I’ve asked the right questions, I walk away feeling like I’ve learned something new about myself through playing that character. I love what I do.
..And the hardest?
your father in 2003 due to Hepatitis C. Are you doing any projects for the eradication of Hepatitis in Myanmar? Yes, I’m currently looking to support a worthy nonprofit that helps victims of the virus. It is estimated that approx 50% of people who have the virus aren’t even aware that they have it, therefore increasing testing accessibility is vital, in addition to education and helping remover social stigmas associated with HCV.
Do you have any secret talent(s)? Cooking. Though it’s not really a secret, just another love of mine.
Your message for us at CiiN magazine. If you love yourself first, loving others comes easy.
Some Rapid Questions.... Favourite Sport:
Not knowing when the next job will be can be unraveling at times.
Not a sports fan in general but if was a matter of life or death I’d pick tennis. Actually wait, is boogie boarding a spot?
What do you like to do away from acting?
Favourite Music:
Singing, writing, sewing, binge watching new shows... ooh, i love boogie boarding. I’m a real ocean girl so any time the sun’s out and I’m not working I’m at the beach :)
Currently in heavy rotation - Yebba, Ed Sheeran and the Something’s Gotta Give soundtrack.
Your motto in life?
Dying to visit Thailand & Myanmar.
‘Where there’s a will, there’s a way.’ (I hear my mums voice in my head when I say it.)
We are sorry to learn that you lost

Celebrate the sunshine season with Jacquie Aiche's Summer Escape pieces A woman’s natural beauty can be illuminated with the right piece of jewellery
36
www.theciin.com
When touching down in California, it isn't uncommon to witness the likes of the A-List set strolling the streets of LA adorned in Jacquie Aiche designs - Alessandra Ambrosio, Emily Ratajkowski, Chanel Iman, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Shanina Shaik and Rihanna are but a few of the “big names” in the brand's tribe. Created from 14k solid gold, genuine diamonds and gemstones, this exquisite jewellery label is inspired by Founder and Designer Jacquie Aiche, who blends her Egyptian Native American heritage into the brand's creations. Designed for the rebellious woman who lives for ‘diamond details and sensual layers’, each adornment is intended to bring ‘beauty and positive energy’ to its beholder. Working directly with miners to hand select each and every precious stone embellishing her original pieces, the craftsmanship of Aiche's yearly collections often depends on what ‘mother nature’ has uniquely delivered. Designed and handcrafted in Aiche's Los Angeles studio, the brand continues to be shaped by its founding philosophy of "spreading positive energy, every day". Crediting the brand's distinct style to the unique tapestry of Aiche's blended cultural background, the designer says she channels her ethnic roots through the sacred aesthetic of her full range of pieces, including necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, body jewellery and anklets. "My Native American heritage pulls me towards turquoise, fossils and precious gemstones, while my Egyptian roots influence the use of Middle Eastern nuances such as hammered gold, goddess imagery and amulet pieces." 'Created for those who adore to be adorned, lovers of precious stones, believers in the energy of minerals, and women who live for their diamond details and sensual layers', the brand's growing list of Hollywood converts speaks for itself. In 2011, Aiche designed a one off bespoke engagement ring for then-fiance of John Legend, Chrissy Teigen. Further, Rihanna was such a huge fan of Aiche’s designs that she even collaborated with the brand to launch a line of jewellery inspired body art in 2015. Aiche first launched the brand over a decade ago after a lifelong fascination with the healing power of stones, fuelled also by personal frustrations toward the limited styles of fine jewellery available on the market at that time. A far cry from her childhood days of painting and gifting stones to friends and family, Aiche has since translated creative expression through stones into an internationally acclaimed fine jewellery label adorned by the celebrities and VIPs alike. Aiche says she believes a woman’s natural beauty can be illuminated with the right piece of jewellery, and that will always be her mission, “I want to create pieces that will make every woman look and feel uniquely beautiful. Traditional, classical jewellery is amazing, but it’s just not me. I’ve always had a very wild and spiritual nature. I think that rebellious spirit to constantly shake things up is what differentiates me as a designer. I create pieces for those who adore to be adorned.” The jewellery can be bought online at www. jacquieaiche.com and in over 40 prestigious retailers across the world.

DUNHILL COMMUNITY: CURATED IT’S NOT ABOUT CARS BY HARRY GRUYAERT / MAGNUM PHOTOS
44
Following the launch of ‘dunhill Community: Live’, a weekly series of conversations between Creative Director Mark Weston and members of the dunhill Community, the House introduces ‘dunhill Community: Curated’ – a new platform to celebrate art and artists it believes in. From a multiplicity of fields, backgrounds and subject matters, dunhill will celebrate and support its collaborators; sharing their work with the wider community. The in-feed residency will be centred on monthly themes, where each of the invited curators will select pieces of personal content relating to that subject; showcasing their photographs, words, films or animations on the House Instagram account. “I instigated the idea of the dunhill community a couple of years ago as a platform and forum to pull together and connect people from different creative fields, to promote a cross pollination of ideas and conversations with those that have shared values of
integrity, intuition, insistence and discovery.” – Mark Weston, Creative Director First in the series, in collaboration with iconic photographic cooperative Magnum Photos, is Paris-based Belgian photographer Harry Gruyaert’s book It’s Not About Cars, published by Gallery FIFTY ONE. Automotive engineering is part of the dunhill DNA and despite cars taking a central role in each shot of this photo-series, their only function is to guide the viewer through Gruyaert’s varied subject matter; characterised by a cinematic framing and a sensitive treatment of colour, form and light. ‘dunhill Community: Curated’ launches on Thursday 18th June.

JAEGER-LECOULTRE INTRODUCES A NEW EDITION OF THE MASTER GRANDE TRADITION GRANDE COMPLICATION
Highlighting its expertise in chiming watches, Jaeger-LeCoultre reinterprets its Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication with a magnificent new design. This follows the introduction in 2019 of two minute repeaters – Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon Westminster Perpétuel with calibre 184 and Master Grande Tradition Répétition Minutes Perpétuelle with self-winding calibre 950. The Master Grande Tradition series epitomises Jaeger-LeCoultre’s horological ingenuity and artistic creativity, bringing innovations and complications together in fascinating new ways. As the latest addition to this series, the new Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication harnesses more than a century and a half of accumulated expertise. This masterpiece of mechanical engineering incorporates two of the most romantic yet technically challenging complications in horology – a minute repeater and a celestial vault. The complex mechanism is further elevated by an orbital flying tourbillon. This limited edition of eight pieces each in rose gold and in white gold features a new aesthetic that reaffirms Jaeger-LeCoultre’s mastery of the artistic crafts.
54
www.theciin.com
A MINUTE REPEATER FOR THE MODERN AGE Considered by watchmakers to be the most challenging – and rewarding – of all horological complications to master, a minute repeater is not only a timepiece but also a miniaturised musical instrument. The technical difficulty of creating one lies in the complexity of the mechanism needed to transcribe the precise time shown by the hands into a series of perfectly programmed strikes. The artistic challenge lies in ensuring that those strikes produce a sound that is rich, harmonious, pure and clearly audible. Over the past 150 years, minute repeaters have had a major presence in Jaeger-LeCoultre’s portfolio of complicated timepieces. La Grande Maison’s mastery of chiming watches is confirmed by more than 200 calibres, including some 100 minute repeaters made before the year 1900. Since the mid-1990s, when Jaeger-LeCoultre revived this noble horological legacy, its engineers and designers have worked to redefine the benchmark for acoustic quality, harnessing technology to serve and safeguard horology’s most treasured traditions. One of the most important elements of a chiming watch is the way in which sound is transmitted from within the watch to be heard by the human ear. Capitalising on the superior acoustic qualities of synthetic sapphire crystal, Jaeger-leCoultre’s patented ‘crystal gongs’ (introduced in 2005) are soldered directly to the sapphire crystal, which acts as an amplifier. The square-profile gongs introduced two years later provide a flat striking surface for the hammers, ensuring more consistent and powerful strikes, while the additional material provides a greater vibrational mass and thus a fuller sound. The articulated trebuchet hammers (introduced in 2009) use a similar mechanical principle to the medieval counterweight catapults that they are named after, greatly improving the speed and force of the hammer strike.
AESTHETIC An exceptional movement merits an exceptional habillage and the new Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication brings fresh artistic expression to this marriage of complications. Reaffirming Jaeger-leCoultre’s expertise in design and mastery of artistic crafts, the timepiece is offered in two versions: one marries the warm glow of pink gold to a black dial, while the other combines deep blue tones with the coolness of white gold and the discreet sparkle of baguette-cut diamonds, which are set on the bezel.
55
Even the most beautiful chime can be marred by background noise – a problem that Jaeger-LeCoultre resolved 125 years ago, with its patented silent strike governor. Using centrifugal forces to regulate chiming, it eliminates the background buzz characteristic of older striking mechanisms. Recognised as a benchmark, it is now used in almost all chiming watches of the Grande Maison.
A HEAVENLY DISPLAY The new Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication embodies Jaeger-LeCoultre’s mastery of astronomical complications in its celestial vault complication, which defines the dial of the watch. Jaeger-LeCoultre first brought together the technical innovations of its new-generation minute repeaters with an astronomical display in the original Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication of 2010. That watch also introduced the Orbital Flying Tourbillon, integrating it into the mechanism as a regulating device. As well as turning on its own axis in 60 seconds, the tourbillon makes a complete, anti-clockwise circuit of the dial in one sidereal day. Slightly shorter than a solar day (on which we base civil timekeeping), a sidereal day is based on Earth’s rotation measured relative to the ‘fixed’ stars, which takes precisely 23 h, 56 min and 4.1 seconds. The sidereal day is used by astronomers to follow the apparent movement of the stars across the night sky. A golden sun-shaped pointer set at the edge of the disc of constellations indicates the date, the month, and the signs of the Zodiac, as well as the 24-hour scale that is marked on the inner flange of the dial. Civil time is read on the two concentric rings that complete the dial: applied hour indexes on the first ring and minutes on the silvery-white outer ring.
A multiple-level dial amplifies the beauty of the celestial theme while also showcasing the orbiting tourbillon. On the deepest level of the dial, a midnight blue or black disc (depending on the model) is decorated with tiny stars. Above it, a delicate filigree forms a dome, its structure echoing the pattern of the constellations marked on the convex celestial disc. The star chart depicts the Northern Hemisphere night sky, as seen from the 46th parallel – the latitude of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s home in the Vallée de Joux. The new Master Grande Tradition case, introduced in 2019’s two minute repeaters, is a perfect complement to the artistry of the dial and the sophistication of the movement. Comprising more than 80 parts, its convex bezel is complemented by broad bevels on the lugs; the hollowed-out sides of the lugs add dynamic tension, while the repeater slide is tapered to harmonise beautifully with the curving case sides. Different surfaces are microblasted, polished and satin-brushed to maximise the play of light and emphasise the details. In every sense, the new Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication is testament to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s enduring expertise in chiming watches and its dedication to maintaining the fine balance between a passionate drive to innovate and profound respect for tradition.

THE MESSIKA GUIDE TO HOME JEWELLERY CARE
64
Valerie Messika creates jewellery that is so comfortable on your skin, you don’t ever want to take it off! You love your Move diamond jewels so much that you have worn them during holidays, whilst swimming in the sea and everyday at the gym. The sea salt has probably accumulated inside and soap and cosmetics can also dull the sparkle of the stones. Don’t panic, Messika has a very simple at home guide to care for your jewellery. All you need to do is… Soak the pieces in warm, soapy water Use a small soft brush to gently scrub Rinse in cold water Dry with a hair dryer to stop dust getting stuck to the jewellery after cleaning www.theciin.com
65
Is your white gold wedding ring losing its sparkle? This is normal! White gold does not exist in natural form. It is the result of an alloy between pure gold which is naturally yellow with other metals which give it this grey color. With time and repeated friction, the layer of rhodium gets finer. To stop the gold turning too yellow under this layer of rhodium, the great jewelry Maisons like Messika combine a very precious metal, palladium, renowned for its beautiful grey color. Therefore, even if your white gold ring fades with time, it will keep its color. Use Messika’s at home guide to jewellery care to keep your jewellery shiny, but if you need an expert opinion, don’t hesitate to take your favourite pieces back to Messika for some extra TLC! PAUL SMITH
AUTUMN WINTER 2020 For his Autumn/Winter ’20 collection, Paul Smith reflects on fifty years of creativity and looks forward with blue-sky positivity.
72
Having established a reputation for reinventing classics across his half century as a designer, Paul Smith refreshes wardrobe archetypes for Autumn/Winter ’20, his fiftieth anniversary collection. Prints and shapes from Paul’s own past are revisited, reinterpreted and celebrated once more. Classic double-breasted Melton overcoats are finished with contrast top-stitching and raw edges whilst clean, lean tailoring nods to the Seventies with added length and high-breaks but has a modern, minimal feel with fly fronts. Natural tones fill the colour palette; teal, terracotta and clay all compliment a bright shade of sky blue that dominates the collection bringing some much-needed positivity. Archival prints are refreshed. On an early trip to Tokyo, a wax plate of spaghetti from a fake food shop found its way into a photographic print on readyto-wear. The spaghetti print is revisited for Autumn/Winter ’20, scaled-up, reworked and woven in textural wool jumpers and printed on floor-length down-filled jackets. A fax print from a previous collection that was inspired by the faulty printing of a warped Paul Smith signature, has new-found irreverence in 2020 with the ever-growing prominence of logomania.
www.theciin.com
73
Breaking new ground in tailoring throughout his career, tailored garments remain at the centre of the collection but with an ease and looseness that’s at the heart of Paul Smith. Thirty years ago, Paul Smith womenswear was created to meet the demand for reinterpreted menswear staples. For Autumn/Winter ’20 this continues with the women’s taking strong influence from the men’s, confidently reworking classic outerwear and suit shapes, and updating a Seventies silhouette with contemporary details. This spirit of reinvention returns when check and houndstooth tailoring is British in its feel but has the fluidity of lightweight Italian cloths. A heavy jumbo corduroy in the predominant sky blue injects cloud-like bounce into the collection and elsewhere proportions are exaggerated in puffer jackets and trainers to create an air of dreamy fantasy. Denim–a regular feature of Paul Smith catwalk collections–appears raw, indigowashed and overdyed with a floral camouflage. Shearling coats nod to Paul’s dandyish pals wearing their Grandmas’ fur coats in the Seventies. July, 2020

AKILLIS Unveils New 'Tattoo' Collection A Diverse Jewellery Collection for All
108
AKILLIS unveils tattoos as jewellery in the brand new Tattoo collection. With this collection, Akillis continues its exploration of ethno-rock, enriching the unique, unexpected, and innovative field of jewellery-as-ink.
www.theciin.com
ENCOUNTER AND FASHION Treating the body as a canvas and conceived of as a second skin, the new collection from Caroline Gaspard - infused with the spirit of the tribal warrior - marries oceanic lines with Akillis’s signature style. Offered in Black & White, this line plays with a palette as bold as it is pure, as masculine as it is feminine. The unisex Tattoo collection - which offers everything from pieces for everyday wear to spectacular high jewelry - is designed for anyone and everyone who want their jewels to dazzle in the morning, the evening, and back again - without even having to think about it!
A WORLD OF SHAPES The authentic Maori style, curved and pointed, highlights the lines and muscles of the body. The jeweller injects her own graphic rock style into this timeless aesthetic. Caroline Gaspard adds a new seductive dimension to the established Akillis stylebook of python scales and steel triangles. She forces contrasts into conversation, clashing and melding the swells, slits, soft curves and keen points of waves, harpoons, spirals, and arrows. The triangle, for example - an Akillis callingcard - symbolizes tenacity among Oceanic people and crops up in black diamond and hollowed-out shark teeth motifs.
A DIVERSE COLLECTION FOR ALL The Tattoo collection consists of some 20 references in 12 bold models and in a wide range of materials. Even though it is harder to work with Titanium than gold, AKILLIS uses titanium for the same reason aerospace engineers and fine watchmakers do: for its strength, its modernity, and for its diversity. A coating of black DLC - a patented technology mixing the structure of carbon, diamond, and a trace amount of hydrogen - making the metal colorfast. Crafted in titanium with a touch setting of black diamonds, a pendant and a pair of sharp-edged earrings evoke the shape of a precious-finned shark. The creations set in DLC black gold, whether encrusted with black diamonds or not, play with variety. Depending on the polishing, faceting, and gem-setting, these creations toy with light - at turns raw, matte, satiny, silky, metallic, and more. The material makes these pieces vibrate. Through white gold and black diamonds, these “tattoos” are sassy classics - a concept never before seen in the world of jewelry. The flexible choker, half-open bracelet, and matching ring even pretend to be reserved. You can place or remove these “tattoos” whenever and wherever you like!

Writers Edition Homage to Victor Hugo The Montblanc Writers Edition celebrates the literary giants who have made their mark on world literature through the power and artistry of their writing. The new limited edition pays tribute to the creative talent and cultural legacy of Victor Marie Hugo (1802 – 1885). Considered one of the greatest French Romantic writers, the novelist, poet, dramatist and illustrator developed his own distinctive style of imaginative realism, pairing realistic elements with abundant symbolism. Hugo firmly believed that his mission as a writer was to defend the less fortunate members of society by documenting injustice, using his work to champion the social and political causes of his time. Among his many achievements, he was elected to the Académie française in 1841, testament to his influence on French arts and letters.
116
While he wrote prolifically in all genres, he is best known around the world for his novels Les Misérables and Notre-Dame de Paris (‘The Hunchback of Notre-Dame’), that have been adapted in many different versions and have earned an enduring place in popular culture. These two colossal works of French literature have inspired the design of the limited edition Montblanc writing instruments. In addition to storytelling elements drawn from the novels, the collection also pays homage to the author’s personal and private life with elegant references to Hauteville House, his beautifully decorated home in Guernsey. Crafted in the Montblanc Ateliers, four different editions bring to life the magic of Hugo’s works from the imposing architecture of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris to the compelling characters of Jean Valjean in Les Misérables.
Montblanc Writers Edition Homage To Victor Hugo Writers Edition The author’s novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is set in Paris during the 15th century, tells the story of Quasimodo, the deformed bell ringer and his unrequited love for the beautiful La Esmeralda. True to Hugo’s passion for social justice, the novel condemns a society that cruelly excludes the likes of Quasimodo and Esmeralda. The characters and themes of the novel are represented in the design of this edition in black precious resin with platinumcoated fittings. lSkeletonized

Kinoya II
A polygonal study in space MontrĂŠal, Canada
For the new Isakaya Kinoya, JEAN DE LESSARD - DESIGNERS CRÉATIFS design firm chose to explore the orthogonality and the verticality of space. The morphology of the narrow two-story premises located on Bishop Street, in Montreal, lends itself perfectly to it.
July, 2020
127
128
If the function and aesthetics are in line with the first Kinoya, this time the tunnel effect is amplified, on the ground floor and first floor, thanks to the assembly of polygons that are partially concealing the original masonry that was preserved for its rough appearance and for the sake of the economy of materials. Encroaching on the circulation axes, the wooden geometries dictate a zigzag path along which basic furniture and platforms are organized. Furthermore, they unfurl in the remodeled kitchen on the ground floor and around the bar counter upstairs, forming nooks and crannies that seem to confine the diners while the alternation of materials of different opacity offers entertaining points of view. The key element of the project is an imposing scaffolding of metal grids made to order in the workshop and assembled on the spot. This stalagmite painted in yellow that rises to the top of the floor hides the staircase from view. Its unrefined workmanship enhances the "rough" plasticity typical of an izakaya. The 50,000 stickers that adorn the structure add a dynamic irreverent note. The yellow here evokes the connotation of tumult that befits a shabby cafĂŠ one can imagine at the end of a dark alley. www.theciin.com

The All New Ineos Grenadier In late 2021 we expect to experience a new car from a new car company.
by Yassa
134
www.theciin.com
A car to combine strength and durability, spaciousness and practicality, German engineering, European manufacture, optimum off-road and rough trekking ability, and if it can achieve all of this, with grace and rough and tumble luxury, for its on road moments, which the earlier Range Rovers achieved, this will be a most interesting, useful and practical multipurpose car.
something you have seen before. There may be visual similarities of practical origin to well known Land Rover and Mercedes models, while within and beneath the skin, this is a 100% new design. Visions of the interior are to follow, with Ineos announcing that the interior will be practical and comfortable with all modern emissions and safety features to achieve US standards.
A must have, for our fast road cities, and out of town family travel or adventure trips ?
Ineos describe their new project as ‘Designed On Purpose’, the focus being on function, the design being durable, readily maintainable, the objective being reliable, with the engineering being largely uncompromised by un-necessary electronics and pneumatics which in a tough environment can lead to failures repairable only by fully equipped workshops.

René Redzepi’s celebrated restaurant will forever be synonymous with Copenhagen’s culinary revolution – and almost two years after its radical relaunch in a former ammunition depot near Christiania, the city’s infamous commune, it remains the hottest ticket in town.
Juno You know you’ve arrived at this bakery in upmarket Østerbro when you spot the queue winding out the door. That’s if you haven’t already caught the heavenly scent of Juno’s cardamom buns. Made by Swedish baker and Noma alumnus Emil Glaser, they’re well worth the wait, as are Juno’s other outstanding pastries and bread rolls.
Amass Sustainability’s the watchword at former Noma head chef Matt Orlando’s graffitiwalled fine-diner. The menu champions seasonal ingredients sourced locally – berries, herbs and greens come straight from Amass’s delightful kitchen garden – while the kitchen’s unrelenting ‘zerowaste’ ethos helps it concoct clever dishes like chewy beetroots with walnut pulp custard and salted blackberries.
Hart Bageri Locals queued for more than an hour when British baker Richard Hart opened this bakery in upmarket Frederiksberg in 2018. And with good reason. Their reward was a complimentary loaf of sourdough bread – hands down the best in town. Hart, who previously worked at San Francisco’s celebrated Tartine, has also won a loyal following for his outstanding pastries, like doublebaked almond croissants.
Selma The Michelin guide made culinary history last year when it awarded Selma a Bib Gourmand (for ‘exceptionally good food at moderate prices’). It was the first smørrebrød joint to receive the accolade – and the man responsible for taking the traditional Danish lunch to the next level was a Swedish chef. toppings such as elderflower herring with crème fraîche and buckwheat.

AlphaTauri launches Spring/Summer 2021 collection alongside the start of the Formula 1 season in Austria AlphaTauri, Red Bull's independent premium fashion brand, presented highlights from its Spring/Summer 2021 women's and men's collections. Faced with an unprecedented disruption to the industry calendar, and all Fashion Weeks on pause, the Austrian brand has created its own physical platform for trade and media. “For us, being able to present the collection is crucial,” explained Ahmet Mercan, CEO AlphaTauri. “Digital is an essential platform, but we don’t think we can communicate everything about AlphaTauri in a virtual way. We are a physical brand, and our world and spirit have to be communicated with authenticity.” The presentation included an installation of 40 mannequins on a treadmill,
on a 27m long catwalk. Guests were able to pause any given look as it passes, and examine fabric and design details – including the 3-layer membrane Taurobran® and the built-in packable systems of new season coats. The installation included digitally staged clips to explain each detail and innovation. The presentation also featured AlphaTauri’s Mobile Innovation Lab, which was launched in February and will soon tour Europe. It is a fully mobile 60sqm pop-up store on a truck that takes less than 20 minutes to install. It incorporates a variety of experience modules relating to virtual reality and 3D knitting technology, including a personalisation station. It is an experiential showcase for AlphaTauri's textiles developed in cooperation with Schoeller Textil AG.
