One of the world’s most eclectic cities and sought-after travel destinations, Berlin was the backdrop for the launch of Montblanc’s new travel campaign. The iconic Metropol Theatre at Nollendorfplatz opened its doors to Montblanc for the first time after six years to be transformed for one night only into an immersive travel experience, where the new campaign promise was brought to life: inviting travellers everywhere to reconnect with the world by exploring new destinations and perspectives. “Reconnecting with the world around us is a key theme for us this year and we wanted our new travel line to make the travel experience as enjoyable as possible, leaving room to learn about the world around us, inspiring us to leave our mark,” explained Nicolas Baretzki, Montblanc CEO. “By giving our guests access to a theatre that has been closed for almost six years and share special cultural experiences with them, we brought that benefit to life in the vibrant city of Berlin.” Evoking a short city trip with a group of friends and filled with unexpected encounters, guests journeyed through a travel tunnel to arrive into the heart of the Metropol, surrounded by projections of favorite urban destinations. Among the other discoveries they made at their destination: a central wall sculpture created with trolleys by Marc Jung reflecting several artworks on the Berlin wall, marking 30 years since its fall. The artist’s three-dimensional, mirrored-steel ‘LOVE ME’ heart sculpture that first appeared in February last year to visitors to The Dubai Mall, has been recreated - but this time on much larger scale. The new ‘LOVE ME’ heart, the latest piece to be added to Emaar’s growing community art portfolio, is so big that it had to be transported in pieces to its new home and assembled onsite. At a height of five metres and equally wide, ‘LOVE ME’ has a depth of 3.8 metres and weighs over 7,000 kg. Described by Hudson as “all-encompassing in its symbolism of love and peace – and an icon image that crosses all boundaries” - ‘LOVE ME’ resonates with people from all walks of life. The sculpture has been carefully positioned to reflect the sky-high Burj Khalifa on its mirrored steel surface making it the perfect companion to the two captivating LED shows lighting up the iconic tower throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan. The rebirth of Oris’s iconic Big Crown Pointer Date is symbolic of both the independent Swiss watchmaker’s rich watchmaking heritage and also the broader revival of simpler, more traditional watch styles. The legend of the Oris Divers Sixty-Five continues with the family’s first series-produced chronograph. Inspired by original diver’s watches Oris produced in the 1960s, the Divers Sixty-Five marries the best of vintage design and contemporary manufacturing techniques. So while it has vintage chronograph pushers and a retro bi-compax (twincounter) dial layout, it also boasts a 43mm stainless steel case, a bronze uni-directional rotating diver’s bezel with an aluminium insert, and a domed sapphire crystal. Inside it is a Swiss Made automatic mechanical chronograph movement with quarter-of-a-second accuracy and a 48-hour power reserve.

Rado Tradition Captain Cook MKII Automatic Limited Edition Since 1957, Rado has been producing watches designed to stand the test of time and, since the launch of the Golden Horse in 1958, to stand the test of the elements when water-resistant watches were far from the norm. Building on this base, 1962 saw the introduction of an early diver’s model that now makes a welcome comeback to the Rado collection in a reimagined version that is true to the look and feel of the original. The Captain Cook MKII was first launched with an impressive 22 bar (220m) water resistance rating and an inner turning bezel capable of measuring up to 80 minutes of elapsed dive time. To Evgenia, the symbol of the bird stands for tenderness, wisdom and refinement as well as for freedom and she chose to place it on the case back where it is worn next to the skin. The bird she has chosen is opulent and proud, its red and gold plumage symbolising warmth and light - a theme often seen in her work. Please introduce yourself to our readers. I am Roya Ghassemi. I was born in 1991 in Iran. I am a graphic designer and illustrator. Tell us about your education and a little of your beginnings and journey as an artist. I began my art career at the age of 15, studying graphic design at the master's school of Shahriar (Tabriz), which had a great influence on my interest in art. After graduating from high school, I immediately began studying at university and graduated with a bachelor's degree. Did you take any kind of training or did it develop over time? Certainly education was the best practice in this field, but I am always learning and practicing. I have not gone through a special class but have been working for almost ten years in this field.

Why and when did you move to Germany? I got married in 2015 and, since my husband lived there, I also moved to Germany. How would you describe your illustration style? Many of my followers ask me for the name of my art style. I have not chosen a name for that yet but I'm sure this style is linked to my spirits and interests. Flowers and plants, animals and colours - and especially women - play a significant role in my illustrations. I use these elements to try to show the natural beauty, but a little surreal; something like in dreams. What would you say is your strongest ability as an illustrator? Maybe it's a bit selfish but I think my paintings are not lifeless. This is the strongest part of my work. Digitally, what are your favourite programs to illustrate in? My drawings are designed manually and digitally. I use Photoshop software. Traditionally, what are your favourite papers and inks? I love thick, textured paper. Can you remember some of your earliest influences? As far as I remember, I always loved colours in my childhood. Can you describe one of the toughest challenges you’ve faced as an illustrator/ designer? In my opinion, the hardest challenge in art is the desire to keep everyone happy or to interfere with the taste of others. How supportive is your family with your interest in illustrations? Very. I feel very happy that I have a family who has always kept me safe. Which of your projects has been most important to developing your personal style? The design of famous characters has had a great impact on my work. 056 How much attention do you pay to the feedback of others on your work? With regard to comments and messages from around the world, especially in Iran, people like to see this. Sometimes they are surprised and I'm very happy about this. When I see that people are inspired by my work and are trying to learn this style and asking for education, I feel I have succeeded in creating my own style and having my own signature. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? I always remind myself to follow my dreams and I think this is the best advice for me. What are some of your future plans? Since I am interested in fashion, I’ve decided
to present a product in the future with a combination of illustration and fashion.

n 4 May 1904, Charles Rolls and Henry Royce met for the first time at The Midland Hotel, Manchester. One-hundred-andfifteen years later, the marque they agreed to form that day continues to set global standards for innovation and excellence and uphold their legacy as the originators of ‘the best car in the world’. Rolls and Royce would doubtless be astonished at the cars produced under their names in 2019. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars retains its links to those pioneering days in its approach, instincts and values. A return to coachbuilding
The lines and styling of the first Rolls-Royce cars are clearly influenced by the horse-drawn carriages they replaced. This is no coincidence, since they were handcrafted by the same master coachbuilders, who effortlessly transferred their skills and artistry from the outgoing tradition to the new technology. Coachbuilding at Rolls-Royce ended in the 1960s, but in 2017, the craft made a triumphant return in the form of ‘Sweptail’ – a fully bespoke, coachbuilt commission for a customer seeking ‘the ultimate grand tourer’.

A bold design
The designers behind the new Peugeot 508 stated their aim clearly; to move away from the conventional boot-lid, four-door shape and evolve the design towards a five-door fastback. The car’s height has been reduced giving it the aerodynamic lines of a coupé. Whilst remaining true to its acclaimed predecessors – the iconic Peugeot 504 and 504 coupé – the new 508 is a sleeker, more seductive
