Welcome to GCSE Options Evening
The aim of the evening is:
• To understand what curriculum or subjects I will be studying for the next two years
• To find out what each subject involves and how it will help me in the future
• To know how to complete my GCSE Options Form and when to hand it in
The English Baccalaureate
The Ebacc is a group of important subjects which are regarded as a useful foundation for future academic study and career options. These include:
● English Language & Literature
● Maths
● Science (Separate Science or Combined Science)
● French or Spanish
● Geography or History
At least 60% of students follow the full Ebacc curriculum. Almost all students take at least four Ebacc subjects.

Completing your GCSE Options Form
Please ensure you complete your Applica form in full and submit by Friday 26th April
You will need to know:
• Your login details
• Whether you will study history or geography
• Option 1 choice
•Option 2 choice
The form opens Wednesday 17th April
Pathways explained
The academy offers four distinct pathways:
Pathway Curriculum
Extended EBacc + separate science + 2 options
Academic EBacc + combined science + 2 options
Core 4 Ebacc subjects + combined science + 2 options (vocational courses offered)
Foundation English, maths, science, + Prince’s Trust + 2 options (vocational courses offered)
Step 1: Log in as an existing user or follow the link in your email.
You will be given your login on Parent day.
This will also be emailed the following day.
Step 2: Select
Humanities and/or MFL
Academic/extended Pathway
This will depend on your pathway.
Extended and academic will do both. Core will choose one at this point.
Core Pathway
Step 2: Option 1
All students have at least one free
All pathways
Step 3: option 2
For core and academic students this could be an Ebacc subject or a more vocational option
Academic/extended Pathway Core Pathway
For extended and academic this is a free choice.
Step 4: Check your options
This will appear on the right
Step 5: Parental confirmation
You will be emailed and asked to login and confirm your child’s choices.
What’s next?
• Read the GCSE Options Guide and talk to the teachers about what the courses involve.
• Discuss with your subject teachers during Parent Day: Tuesday 16th April.
• Students Log into Applica and make their choices
• Parents log into Applicaa and confirm choices
•. Applica will open on Wednesday 17th April and must be completed by Friday 26th April.
