Dear readers, It’s already April, although it feels like we’ve just wished our friends and family a happy new year only a few days ago. Time really flies. We hope you’ve kept your promises to yourselves and we hope that you have progress with your new year resolutions. We certainly tackled a few things on our list at theCITY, but some things will have to wait for 2014, I guess. Our issue for April has some unique interviews with young entrepreneurs. We introduce you in this issue to Thamer Al-Thamer and Mohammad Al-Ebrahim, two young ambitious Kuwaitis who are venturing on the route of event planning and organization. They’re doing an excellent job, and we are glad to be media sponsors for Thamer’s upcoming event, which will be another stand-up comedy show. Great Idea As part of its annual Great Idea program, Zain took 35 aspiring entrepreneurs to Spain’s esteemed IE Business School. Participants attended a fullfledged entrepreneurial course constructed by IE in order to give them the knowledge and expertise in each component of their business plans. Projects and ideas that qualified range from technology, health, sports, education, tourism, food and beverage, retail and services, to livestock and agriculture. Upon arrival in Spain, participants were given an opportunity to receive operations, marketing, human resources, and financial aspects of a solid business. They were also instructed by the best mentors and professors in the field, working on dummy project during their course. They attended conferences and events at esteemed establishments such as Telefonica’s business hub WAYRA, and Hub Madrid. After connecting with fellow entrepreneurs and sharing experiences with other participants not just from the qualifying 35 people coming from Kuwait, but also from a network of international participants, the 35 participants from Zain were given an opportunity to present their ideas in IE’s Venture Day. After all of the business cases were presented, the best was chosen and was awarded the IE Venture Day – Business Trophy.

‫حتتل دولة الكويت املرتبة الثانية على املستوى العاملي يف إنتشار السمنة املفرطة‪،‬‬ ‫وتستمرهذه األعداد يف التزايد‪ ،‬ومن الغري مفاجىء أن نرى زيادة يف معدل إنتشار السمنة‬ ‫بني األطفال‪ ،‬فالسمنة املفرطة بني األطفال ليست موضوعًا من السهل مناقشته ‪ ،‬ولكن‬ ‫يجب علينا إتخاذ اخلطوات السريعة حفاظًا على مستقبل أوالدنا‪ .‬ولذلك قمنا بإطالق مبادرة‬ ‫التغذية الصحية مبادرة ‪ EatHealthyQ8‬لألطفال ومبساعدة أولياء أمورهم بهدف التحسني‬ ‫من عادات أكلهم وكبح هذه الظاهرة املتزايدة للسمنة يف مرحلة الطفولة يف دولة الكويت‪.‬‬

‫‪ .2‬لقد شهدنا عددًا من الفعاليات واحلمالت التوعوية التي حتارب السمنة‪ ،‬كيف‬ ‫ستكون مبادرة ‪ EatHealthyQ8‬خمتلفة عن هذه احلمالت؟ وكيف ستؤثر على‬ ‫ظاهرة السمنة املفرطة املنتشرة على املستوى الوطني؟‬ ‫مبادرة ‪ EatHealthyQ8‬هي أول مبادرة وطنية مصممة لألطفال بالتعاون مع أولياء‬

‫أمورهم للتحسني من عادات أكلهم وكبح الظاهرة املتزايدة إلنتشار السمنة املفرطة‬ ‫يف دولة الكويت‪ .‬إن مبادرة ‪ EatHealthyQ8‬هي نتيجة للجهود املشرتكة بني دايت سنرت‬ ‫الكويت‪،‬ووزارة الرتبية والتعليم‪ ،‬واإلدارة العامة للتعليم اخلاص‪ ،‬ووزارة الصحة‪ ،‬واملنظمة‬ ‫الدولية للهجرة وشركة أرجانا للفنادق واملنتجعات‪ .‬تهدف هذه املبادرة إىل جمع ‪ 30‬طف ًال‬ ‫ترتاوح أعمارهم من ‪ 11‬إىل ‪ 14‬عامًا من ‪ 10‬مدارس للمشاركة يف مبادرة ‪.EatHealthyQ8 Q8‬‬ ‫سيحظى األطفال من خالل هذه احلملة والتي سيمتد ملدة شهر واحد على فرصة للتعرف‬ ‫على فوائد عادات األكل الصحية وممارسة التمارين كجزء من إتباع منط حياة أكرث صحة‪.‬‬

‫‪ .3‬يف رأيك ما هو مدى أهمية نشر التوعية عن السمنة املفرطة واملشاكل‬ ‫الصحية الناجمة عنها يف جمتمعنا اليوم؟‬

‫العنصر الرئيسي للوصول إىل أفراد اجملتمع هو من خالل نشر التوعية والتعليم عن املشاكل‬ ‫الصحية امللحة الناجمة عن السمنة املفرطة‪ .‬فالذي ال يعرفه الكثريون هو أن دولة الكويت‬ ‫حتتل املركز الثاين يف إنتشار السمنة على مستوى العامل‪ ،‬وسبب الوفاة الرئيسي يف الكويت‬ ‫يكون نتيجة ألمراض القلب والتي تأتي نتيجة للسمنة‪ .‬لهذا السبب‪ ،‬نحرص على املساهمة‬ ‫يف حمالت التوعية والفعاليات لتعليم أفراد اجملتمع عن أهمية إتباع منط حياة أكرث صحة‪.‬‬

‫‪ .4‬ملا الرتكيز على األطفال وليس البالغني؟‬

‫تؤمن مبادرة ‪ EatHealthyQ8 Q8‬بإيجابيات التوعية املبكرة وتعليم األطفال لكي يتبعوا منط‬ ‫حياة أكرث صحة‪.‬وكما يقول املثل الشائع «التعليم يف الصغر كالنقش على احلجر»‬

‫‪ .5‬هل تعتقدين أن مبادرة ‪ EatHealthyQ8‬لها القدرة على تغيري أمناط احلياة‬

‫وعادات األكل يف جمتمعنا؟‬

‫أعتقد أن مبادرة ‪ EatHealthyQ8‬ستفتح أعني جمتمعنا على ظاهرة السمنة املتزايدة‪.‬‬ ‫فسيستوعب الناس مدى خطورة هذا الوباء واألمراض الناجمة عنه‪ .‬فالسمنة املفرطة هي‬ ‫سبب رئيسي ملشاكل القلب‪ ،‬السكري‪ ،‬اإلكتئاب وقد تؤدي يف بعض األحيان إىل السرطان‪.‬‬ ‫نحن نسعى من خالل هذه املبادرة على نشر التوعية عن املشاكل الصحية التي تأتي نتيجة‬ ‫للسمنة وأهمية إتباع األطفال لنمط حياة أكرث صحة وهذه هي البداية فقط‪.‬‬

‫‪ .6‬من هي الهيئات املشاركة يف هذه املبادرة؟ وما دورهم؟‬ ‫مبادرة ‪ EatHealthyQ8‬حاصلة على دعم من دايت سنرت الكويت‪ ،‬نادي سي‪-‬كلوب‬ ‫ومستشفى رويال حياة‪ .‬سيحظى األطفال على فرصة للتعرف على فوائد عادات األكل‬ ‫الصحية وممارسة التمارين مبساعدة أخصائيي التغذية واملدربني‪ ،‬فسيقوم دايت سنرت‬ ‫الكويت بتوفري الربامج الغذائية اخلاصة لألطفال طبقًا للوزن‪ ،‬ومؤشر كتلة اجلسم‪ ،‬ومعدل‬ ‫النشاط البدين واحلالة الصحية ‪ .‬سيتم اإلشراف على التدريبات البدنية من قبل فريق من‬ ‫األطباء واملدربني يف سي‪-‬كلوب وسيتوىل فريق متخصص من األطباء مبستشفى رويال‬ ‫حياة القيام بفحوصات الدم للحصول على تقرير كامل للحالة الطبية والصحية لكل طفل وعلى‬ ‫أساسه سيتم حتديد النظام الغذائي اخلاص بكل طفل من قبل دايت سنرت‪ ،‬كما سيحضر‬ ‫طبيب أطفال متخصص لتوفري العناية الطبية لألطفال طوال فرتة الربنامج‪.‬‬

Planting the Seeds of a Successful Business

ello dear customers, it is so nice to meet with you once again. The month of April is known around the world (maybe this doesn’t apply to Kuwait) to be the month of rain and showers, and followed by May flowers which bloom. Nature always has a lesson in the way things progress. Flowers can only follow rain. With no rain, there will be no flowers. So, my dear customers, for those of you who want your dreams to blossom, there must be work. Many people I come across tell me of their dream to own their own business. Many of these people want to become millionaires and are struggling to find their path to building and running a successful business. These people do not know how to start, but they know they want to become free and independent. For those of you who dream of starting a business, allow me to provide you with the guidelines you need as suggested by the success guru Brian Tracy which I have found to work wonders.

1. Understand What Owning a Business Means.

are many good books available on writing business plans. In a nutshell, your business plan should consist of the following elements: Executive summary, Business description, Marketing strategies Competitive analysis, Development plan, Operations, Financials

6. Limit Un-Needed Spending

Most studies show that a lack of direction is detrimental to a business. Remember that cash is king. Spending too much on the business or large budget advertizing from day one is very dangerous. If you spend without a plan and then scramble to make ends meet, this is a recipe for disaster. Many people feel that they need to come out to the public with a bang. Although this may make a strong impression on the market, if you are not set up to be able to serve the high flow of customers, this will leave an unprofessional mark.

7. 4 P’s (Product-Price-Place-Promotion and Positioning)

There are millions of ways to make money. The trick is to know what you love to do and create a way to make it profitable for you. Choose the correct type of business. If you do not love and believe in your product, you will find it very difficult to sell it and this will affect your success.

• Product: What is your product? Is your product needed? Do people feel the need to buy it? • Price: Where are you in comparison to your customers? Are you overpricing? Are you under pricing? Why? • Place: Where is your location? Is it a suitable place? For those of you who are home businesses, are you delivering to all areas? Why or why not? • Promotion: Are you advertizing correctly? What is your primary source of interaction with the public? How many channels are working in your behalf? • Positioning: Where are you located in the minds of the public? Do you sell a luxury product? A necessity? What is the reputation of your product?

3. Define Your Target Customer

Owning a business means different things to different people. If your motivation is to become rich quick, you will probably be sadly disappointed. The primary motivation for the majority of successful business owners is freedom: freedom from a boss, freedom to be creative, and of course, financial freedom.

2. Decide What You Want.

Ask yourself, who is my ideal customer? Who do I want to sell to? What is my customer’s motivation to buy? The one size fits all approach to marketing, is very ineffective. Men and women need to be marketed to differently and each age group and nationality needs to be catered to very differently. When marketing, it is vital to think about the customers’ point of view.

4. Test the Market.

Research the need of the market for your product. Ask friends and family about your prospective business. Hire a business coach for honest feedback and input of the market from an experienced professional. Asking around is key to understanding where people stand in comparison to the market. Don’t get stuck with a product that isn’t required in the market. Do you have a competitor? The clearer you are in your answers, the better off you will be.

5. Create a Business Plan.

A business plan helps to define what you think you need to launch your business, large or small. It summarizes the sense of your business in a single document. It also creates a map for investors, bankers, and other interested parties to use when determining how they can best help you and to help them decide whether or not your business is viable. There

Successful entrepreneurs are those who took a leap of faith towards business success. Keep moving on faith and planning. Understand that action brings results more than waiting for the perfect time ever will.

9. Manage Your Time Effectively

Do you know what your most valuable asset is? Its time! The way you manage or mis-manage your time will affect your productivity. Never waste time on little things that do not advance your business. Make a list every night of items that you must finish the next day. Discipline yourself to plan your day and follow the plan. Avoid any diversion away from your most important items to complete.

10. Educate Yourself

Continuous learning is the key to success. For you to succeed, you must keep up to date and current. Knowledge is power and the best way is to read and re-read books. Additionally, go to seminars and trainings whenever you get a chance. Dearest readers, I have summarized a few aspects that I feel are vital to starting a business. For those who wish to start and have a desire to follow through, if you follow the top ten guidelines, you will do very well. I wish you all the best in your business success. Yin represents the feminine side such as softness, stillness, and dark colors, while Yang represents the masculine side such as hardness, movement, and bright colors. In order to have a peaceful room you have to balance the two extremes. For example: The room would be too masculine if the walls are white and all tables have sharp hard edges. ‫وين القا راحتي‪..‬‬ ‫وين القا سعادتي‪ ..‬فيدوني تكفون!!‬ ‫اختلف الناس يف كثري من املفاهيم والتعاريف يف شتى جماالت احلياة‪ ,‬ومما‬ ‫اختلفوا فيه مفهوم السعادة ‪ ,‬ماهي السعادة ؟ وهل تكون السعادة يف الغنى‬ ‫وكرثة املال واجلاه ؟ وهل تكون السعادة يف الراحة واخلمول واألبتعاد عن حتديات‬ ‫الدنيا ؟ أين توجد السعادة وما هو مكانها ؟‬

‫لعل أهم هدف للبشرية بغض النظر عن الديانات والتوجهات هو السعادة‪.‬كل إنسان عاقل‬ ‫يبحث عن السعادة‪,‬قد يختلف الناس يف مفهوم السعادة فمنهم من يجد ان السعادة تكمن‬ ‫يف الراحة والتمدد يف الفراش ‪,‬ومنهم من يرى السعادة يف املال‪,‬ومنهم من يجد السعادة‬ ‫بني األهل واألبناء‪,‬ومنهم من يجد السعادة يف املعاصي كشرب اخلمر والزنى والعياذ باهلل‪!....‬‬ ‫إن أعظم وأعلى درجات العقول البشرية من فالسفة ومفكرين وعلى رأسهم الرسل واألنبياء‬ ‫مل يختلفوا على أن السعادة احلقيقية يف العطاء وليس باألخذ كما يعتقد كثري من الناس‪.‬‬ ‫وهذا ما أكد عليه أحد أعظم فالسفة الغرب وهو «أرسطو» يف اكتشافه بأن كل سلوك‬ ‫إنساين ذو سمة «»غائية» أي له هدف وغاية غري حمددة وممتدة يقصد منها هدف حمدد أو‬ ‫نتيجة مرجوة‪,‬فكان مانعمله من أهداف صغريه أو كبريه ورائه هدف أعظم وغاية أسمى وهو‬ ‫حتقيق السعادة ‪ ,‬إن سعادتي وأنا أكتب هذه املادة القيمة وأنا أعلم يقينا أنها تأخذ من وقتي‬ ‫الكثري من اجلهد والبحث والقراءة والتعب ولكن عندما أتفكر باألجر العظيم من اهلل والفائدة‬ ‫التي سأفيد بها الناس أدرك الراحة التي ستعود إيل من إضافة شيء إىل مسرية حياتي وأن‬ ‫أضيف شيئًا للدنيا وال ان اكون زائدا فيها‪.‬وكذلك يف حتصيلي العلمي والعملي حيث أين أيقنت‬ ‫أن السعادة ليست حمطة نقف عندها حني نحقق أهدافنا ولكنها طريق دائم‪ ,‬طوبى ملن‬ ‫سار إليه وفهم معادلة هذا الطريق‪.‬‬

‫• وعي اإلنسان بعمق نعم اهلل وشكره يكفيه أن يعيش عمره سعيد‪.‬‬

‫حينما سألت أم املؤمنني عائشه رضي اهلل عنها الرسول صلى اهلل عليه وسلم عن قيامه‬ ‫طوال الليل هلل تعاىل وأن اهلل غفر له ماتقدم من ذنبه وما تأخر قال عليه افضل الصالة والسالم‬ ‫‪(( :‬أفال أكون عبدًا شكورًا))‪,‬إن انتقال اإلنسان من طموح اىل طموح أعلى منه يتطلب اجلهد‬ ‫املضاعف‪,‬ففي احلديث الشريف يخرب الرسول عليه الصالة والسالم أم املؤمنني رضي اهلل‬ ‫عنها املنزلة التي يريد ان يصل اليها والتي ال يصل اليها اىل القله من العباد وهي منزلة العبد‬ ‫عبادى َ‬ ‫ٌ‬ ‫ور)) [سبأ‪.]13:‬‬ ‫((وقليل مِ ْن‬ ‫الشكور لقوله تعاىل ‪:‬‬ ‫َ‬ ‫الشكُ ُ‬ ‫َ‬ ‫إن شكر اهلل تعاىل على ما أعطى من نعم واجب لكرمه ولرحمته ولكل خري هو بنا ‪َ (( :‬لئِن شكَ ْرت ُْم‬ ‫ِيدنَّكُ ْم)) [إبراهيم‪ ]7:‬فقلي ًال من التفكري يف هذه النعم ملرفة معنى السعادة التي قرر الكثري‬ ‫َألز َ‬ ‫من الناس أن يجعلوها سعادة مشروطة مبفاهيمهم وقيمهم سواء املادية أو املعنوية‪,‬إن‬ ‫نعم اهلل تعاىل كافيةٌ لتحقيق السعادة‪.‬‬ ‫ار))‪[ ,‬إبراهيم‪:‬‬ ‫ْس َ‬ ‫ان ل ََظل ٌ‬ ‫((و ِإ ْن ت َُع ُّدوا ن ِْع َم َة اللَّهِ َال ت ُْح ُ‬ ‫ص َ‬ ‫وها ِإ َّن ا ِإلن َ‬ ‫ُوم كَ فَّ ٌ‬ ‫افال يكفي قوله تعاىل‪َ :‬‬ ‫‪,]34‬إن اهلل تعاىل مل يقل نعم اهلل بل اكتفى ب « ن ِْع َم َة» ولنا ان نتأمل ماهي النعم التي تنبعث‬ ‫من نعمةٍ واحدة كنعمة العينني‪َ ((:‬أل َْم ن َْج َعل ل َُّه َع ْي َن ْي ِن))[البلد‪ ]8:‬فالعينان التي نرى فيهما ربيع‬ ‫احلياة وجمالها ونبصر بهما ما ال يعد وال يحصى من النعم التي نستشعرها عن طريق النظر‪,‬‬ ‫ِسانًا َو َ‬ ‫شفَ َت ْي ِن)) فننطق باللسان ونتكلم بالبيان ونعرب عما يف داخلنا من عذب‬ ‫((ول َ‬ ‫وقال أيضًا ‪َ :‬‬ ‫الكالم وعما يدور يف القلب من مشاعر و نبضات‪,‬وغريها من النعم الغري منتهيه التي تأتي بها‬ ‫نعمة النطق والكالم‪.‬فتذكروا دائمًا السعادة أن يعرف اإلنسان نعم اهلل تعاىل عليه‪....‬والتعاسة‬ ‫أن يجهل اإلنسان تلك النعم»‪.‬‬

‫شرايكم‪..‬هل السعادة أين أحقق هديف ؟وال طريجي اىل الهدف والهدف نفسه‬ ‫معًا‪..‬شرايكم؟!‬

‫يتسع مفهوم السعادة ليشمل جميع حلظات حياتنا‪,‬فال ننتظر حلظة اإلنتهاء من العمل‬ ‫أو احملاضرات اجلامعية أو من املدرسة والعودة اىل البيت أو أن نخف من أوزاننا أو أن نزيد‬ ‫منها قليال‪,‬أو أن نتزوج أو ان يحني موعد اإلجازة األسبوعية لكي نشعر بالسعادة حيث نكون‬ ‫انتهينا من إجناز املهمة أو حتقيق األمر‪,‬ولكن السعادة تكون يف العمل أو يف أي هدف نسري‬ ‫نحو إجنازه ولكن القليل من يلتمس السعادة احلقيقية يف الطريق‪,‬وكم أعجب ممن يضعون‬ ‫مسمى «شهر العسل» يف حياتهم الزوجية ويخلقون تصورًا ذهنيًا فقريًا وحمدودًا حلياتهم‬ ‫الزوجية فهل يعقل أن نعيش حياتنا الزوجية بفرتة شهرا واحدا للعسل‪ !!!...‬أم يصح أن‬ ‫ٌ‬ ‫وقت مير فوجب علينا أن نسعد يف طريق‬ ‫نسميه «عمر العسل»‪,‬إن حياة اإلنسان ماهي إال‬ ‫احلياة وليس أن نقف يف حمطاتها لكي نشعر بالسعادة‪.‬‬

‫كم وجدت من يعتقد أن السعادة مرتبطة مبال أو بجاه‪,‬إن من يفكر بهذه الطريقة جهل‬ ‫معنى السعادة‪,‬فكم من األغنياء يعيشون يف القصور والنعيم ولكنهم اليعلمون حقيقة‬ ‫السعادة‪,‬وكم من األغنياء ممن عرفوا معنى السعادة فربغم امتالكهم لألموال فهم‬ ‫يسريون يف طريق حتقيق رسالتهم يف احلياة ويستمتعون ببذل اجلهد والعمل الدؤوب‬ ‫بها كمؤسسي شركة «جوجل» أو كاإلعالمية األمريكية أوبرا أو كالدكتور القدير د‪.‬عبدالرحمن‬ ‫السميط الذي أسلم على يديه يف عمله اخلريي يف أفريقيا ما يقارب ‪ 7,5‬مليون شخص يف‬ ‫الوقت الذي أكتب فيه هذه الصفحات‪,‬إنها أمثلةٌ بسيطة من احلياة ولك أن تبحث يف حياة‬ ‫الناجحني وغريهم ممن فهم هذه املعادلة املتزنة للسعادة‪.‬‬

‫• أيام قبل حلوه‪..‬واأليام الياية أحال‪..‬بس شخبار اللحظة اللي عايشني إحنا فيها؟!‬

‫كثري من الناس يعيش السعادة بذكريات املاضي و آمال املستقبل املشرق وال بأس‬ ‫بسطحية األمر ولكن العيش بهم هي سعاده وهمية ويف العمق تعاسة متواصله‬ ‫للحاضر‪,‬فالسعادة احلقيقية تكمن يف عمق اللحظة التي أعيشها اآلن والتي هي احلقيقة‬ ‫الوحيدة التي أملكها‪,‬ولست أدعو هنا اىل إهمال املاضي واملستقبل ولكن الرجوع إيل املاضي‬ ‫مث ًال إلستخالص العرب والفوائد التي تفيدين للحاضر واملستقبل‪,‬والرجوع للمستقبل مث ًال‬ ‫للتخطيط حلياتي وصنع أفضل اإلحتماالت حلياتي‪.‬‬

‫الحظوا أن الكثري منا ينتظر عطلة الصيف أو اإلجازة اإلسبوعية أو حتقيق ربح معني أو احلصول‬ ‫على مرتبة علمية أو عملية وغريها من األمور التي ال أنكر أنها تضيف لنا سعادتنا يف احلياة‬ ‫ولكن تأملوا معي أن حتقيق األمور السابقة يحقق عمق السعادة إذا إرتبط باإلستمتاع باللحظة‬ ‫التي نعيشها لتحقيق الهدف املنشود وليس اإلرتباط بالهدف عند املستقبل‪.‬لذلك عيش‬ ‫اللحظة واإلستمتاع بها بكل جوانبها هو من أسرار السعادة احلقيقية‪.‬‬

‫• إنتبهوا‪..‬ترا مو بس بالدنيا‪!!..‬‬

‫واليقف مفهوم السعادة على احلياة الدنيا فقط ولكن ميتد ليشمل السعادة األخروية واألنس‬ ‫بالقرب من اهلل تعاىل ولذة النظر اىل وجهه الكرمي وابتغاء جنته ‪,‬لذلك كانت دعوة املرسلني‪:‬‬ ‫س َألُكُ ْم َع َل ْيهِ مِ ْن َأ ْج ٍر ِإ ْن‬ ‫﴿و َما َأ ْ‬ ‫﴿و َيا قَ ْومِ ال َأ ْ‬ ‫س َألُكُ ْم َع َل ْيهِ َما ًال ِإ ْن َأ ْجرِ َي ِإ َّال َعلَى اللَّهِ ﴾ [هود‪َ ,]29:‬‬ ‫َ‬ ‫َ‬ ‫َ‬ ‫َ‬ ‫َ‬ ‫سألُكُ ْم َع َل ْيهِ أ ْج ًرا ِإ ْن أ ْجرِ َي ِإلَّا َعلَى الَّذِ ي‬ ‫َأ ْجرِ َي ِإلَّا َعلَى َر ِّب ال َْعال َِم َ‬ ‫ني﴾ [الشعراء‪َ ﴿ ,]109/‬يا قَ ْومِ لَا أ ْ‬ ‫ني﴾‬ ‫س َألُكُ ْم َع َل ْيهِ مِ ْن َأ ْج ٍر ِإ ْن َأ ْجرِ َي ِإلَّا َعلَى َر ِّب ال َْعال َِم َ‬ ‫فَ َط َرنِي َأفَ لَا ت َْعقِ ل َ‬ ‫﴿و َما َأ ْ‬ ‫ُون﴾ [هود‪َ ,]51/‬‬ ‫[الشعراء‪ .]127/‬إن هذا الذي نادى به جميع األنبياء والرسل عليهم السالم على اختالف األزمان‬ ‫واألجناس‪,‬فكان النداء ليس ملقابل شيء إال لبتغاء وجه اهلل تعاىل فهذه هي اسمى الغايات‬ ‫التي حتقق السعادة الدنيوية واألخروية‪.‬‬

‫• ذكر اهلل من مفاتيح السعادة‪.‬‬

‫ومن معاين السعادة املهمة والتي هي باألساس سبب الوجود أن نكون قريبني من اهلل تعاىل‪,‬‬ ‫قال ابن القيم‪-‬رحمه اهلل‪ « :-‬إن يف القلب شعث ال يلمه إال اإلقبال على اهلل‪ ،‬و عليه وحشة ال‬ ‫يزيلها إال اإلنس به يف خلوته‪ ،‬و فيه حزن ال يذهبه إال السرور مبعرفته و صدق معاملته‪ ،‬و فيه‬ ‫قلق ال يسكنه إال االجتماع عليه و الفرار منه إليه‪ ،‬و فيه نريان حسرات ال يطفئها إال الرضا بأمره‬ ‫و نهيه و قضائه و معانقة الصرب على ذلك إىل وقت لقائه‪ ،‬و فيه طلب شديد ال يقف دون أن‬ ‫يكون هو وحده مطلوبه‪ ،‬و فيه فاقة ال يسدها إال حمبته و دوام ذكره و اإلخالص له‪ ،‬ولو أعطي‬ ‫الدنيا و ما فيها مل تسد تلك الفاقة أبدا»‪. .‬‬ ‫ً‬ ‫َ‬ ‫ُ‬ ‫ةً‬ ‫ْقِ‬ ‫عِ‬ ‫امةِ َأ ْع َمى))‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫م‬ ‫و‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ه‬ ‫ر‬ ‫ش‬ ‫َح‬ ‫ن‬ ‫و‬ ‫ا‬ ‫نك‬ ‫ض‬ ‫يش‬ ‫م‬ ‫َه‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ن‬ ‫إ‬ ‫ي‬ ‫فَ‬ ‫َ‬ ‫فصدق قوله تعاىل‪َ ((:‬و َم ْن َأ ْع َر َ‬ ‫ض َع ْن ذِ كْ رِ‬ ‫َّ‬ ‫ِ‬ ‫َ ْ ُ ُ َْ َ َ َ‬ ‫ُ َ‬ ‫[طه‪ ]124:‬وهل من عاقل ينكر أن القرب باهلل اليشفي القلب ويثلج الصدر‪!...‬بل مل يكتفي بذلك‬ ‫سبحانه وتعاىل بل جعل لنا يف تقواه خمرجًا من كل مصيبة بل ورزقًا كرميًا من الكرمي سبحانه‪:‬‬ ‫‏((و َمن َيت َِّق الل ََّه َي ْج َعل ل َُّه َم ْخ َر ًجا َو َي ْرزُقْ ُه مِ ْن َح ْي ُث لَا َي ْحت ِ‬ ‫َس ُب)) [الطالق‪ ,]2:‬وقد روي عن أبي‬ ‫َ‬ ‫ذر عن النبي صلى اهلل عليه وسلم أنه قال «لو أخذ الناس كلهم بهذه اآلية لكفتهم»‏‏‪,‬إن من‬ ‫شرف عظيم لنا‬ ‫أعظم أنواع الراحة والطمأنينة هي يف ذكر اهلل والقرب منه فيذكرنا املوىل وأي‬ ‫ٍ‬ ‫يف ذلك‪,‬يقول تعاىل‪( :‬فَ اذْ كُ ُرونِي َأذْ كُ ْركُ م) [ البقرة – ‪ ]152‬يقول الدكتور عائض القرين‪ « :‬لو مل يكن‬ ‫نفع إال أن يذكرك ر ُّبك لكفى بهِ نفْ عًا‪ ,‬فيا له من‬ ‫يكن له ٌ‬ ‫للذكر من فائدةٍ إال هذه لكفى‪ ,‬ولو ملْ ْ‬ ‫وشرف «‪.‬‬ ‫َم ْجدٍ وسؤددٍ و ُزلْفى‬ ‫ٍ‬

‫العقود االلكترونية من الناحية القانونية‬ ‫العقد‬

‫اإللكرتوين هو الرتجمة القانونية لتالقي اإلرادات بني البائع ومقدم اخلدمة من‬ ‫ناحية واملشرتي أو املستهلك من ناحية أخرى‪ ،‬ويقوم هذا العقد مثل العقد التقليدي على‬ ‫الثقة وهو يعترب اهم عملية يف التجارة االلكرتونية ‪.‬‬ ‫و بتعريفنا القانوين للعقد اإللكرتوين فهو اتفاق بني شخصني أو أكرث يتالقى فيه اإليجاب والقبول‬ ‫عرب تقنيات االتصال عن بعد بهدف إنشاء رابطة قانونية أو تعديلها أو إنهائها‬ ‫تطور االتصاالت والتقنيات احلديثة وباإلضافة إىل التطور التكنولوجي أظهرت لنا نوع جديد من‬ ‫أنواع التجارة وهو ما اطلق عليه بالتجارة اإللكرتونية ومن خاللها ظهر لنا القلب النابض لهذا‬ ‫النوع من التجارة وهو العقد اإللكرتوين ‪.‬‬ ‫وحيث أن العقد هو توافق إرادتني أو أكرث على إحداث أثر قانوين ‪ ،‬فالرضا أو الرتاضي هي قوام‬ ‫العقد‪ ،‬والرتاضي ينصرف إىل إنشاء االلتزام وكل التزام البد أن يكون له من حمل وسبب وهذا هو‬ ‫العقد التقليدي وفقا للنظرية العامة لاللتزام اال ان العقد االلكرتوين يختلف عن العقد التقليدي‬ ‫بوسيلة إبرامه إذ أنه عقد يربم بني شخصني غائبني باستخدام وسائط إلكرتونية حديثة ‪.‬‬ ‫وإذا كان العقد اإللكرتوين يخضع يف تنظيمه للقواعد واألحكام العامة التي تنظمها النظرية‬ ‫العامة للعقد بوجه عام وبذلك يطبق عليه قانون التجارة الكويتي و القانون املدين نظرا لعدم‬ ‫وجود تنظيم قانوين واضح لذلك ويف انتظار تشريع قانون التجارة االلكرتونية حيث ان هذا النوع‬ ‫من التجارة قد فرضت نفسها يف التعامالت الدولية ملا فيها من سهولة يف التعامل ‪.‬‬ ‫ال أحد األركان األساسية النعقاد العقد هو الرتاضي حيث ينعقد بتوافق إرادتني بقصد إحداث‬ ‫أثر قانوين ويعترب الرتاضي موجود إذا تطابقت إرادتا املتعاقدين وتوافرت شروط صحة الرتاضي‬ ‫إذ بهذا ينعقد العقد ولكي يوجد الرتاضي البد من وجود إرادة لدى كال من طريف العقد والبد أن‬ ‫تتطابق اإلرادتان والقانون يعتد باإلرادة إذا كانت صادرة ممن له القدرة على معرفة ما يرتتب‬ ‫على اإلرادة من أثار و يجب لكي يعتد القانون باإلرادة أن تتخذ مظهر خارجي يدل عليها وهو‬ ‫صدور االيجاب و ان يقابله بالقبول هذا فيما يخص العقد العادي ‪.‬‬ ‫أما بالنسبة لتعريف اإليجاب بشأن العقد اإللكرتوين فقد مت تعريفه باكرث من تعريف من قبل‬ ‫املنظمات العاملية و األوربية من بينها هذا التعريف وهو كل اتصال عن بعد يتضمن كافة‬ ‫العناصر الالزمة لتمكني املرسل إليه من أن يقبل التعاقد مباشرة ويستبعد من هذا النطاق‬ ‫جمرد اإلعالن‪.‬‬

‫إن العقد اإللكرتوين كأي عقد آخر يجب النعقاده انعقادًا صحيحًا أن يكون صادرًا عن متعاقدين‬ ‫تتوافر فيهما أهلية التعاقد فإذا أراد أطراف املعاملة وقوع العقد صحيحًا فإنه يتعني عليهم‬ ‫التدقيق يف مسألة األهلية بأي وسيلة متاحة على أن البيانات املطروحة من أحد املتعاقدين‬ ‫عرب شبكة اإلنرتنت قد ال تكون صحيحة وال ميكن للمتعاقد يف هذه احلالة التحقق من بيانات‬ ‫التعريف باملتعاقد اآلخر وهو ما قد يؤثر بالتأكيد على صحة التعاقد إذا تبني بالفعل عدم توافر‬ ‫أهلية التعاقد لكال الطرفني أو أحدهما‪.‬‬ ‫ومعنى اهلية ابرام العقد هي صالحية الشخص ملمارسة حقوقه بنفسه وااللتزام بااللتزامات‬ ‫املالية بنفسه‪،‬‬ ‫فهي صالحية الشخص إلعمال إرادته إعماال من شأنه ترتيب األثر القانوين الذي يريده‬ ‫ويعترب الشخص عدمي التمييز واالدارك و بالتايل عدمي االهلية من سن الوالدة حتى السابعة فال‬ ‫يستطيع أن يباشر أي نوع من األعمال القانونية سواء كانت نافعة نفع حمض أو ضارة ضرر‬ ‫حمض أم دائرة بني النفع والضرر‪.‬‬ ‫وهناك اهلية أداء ناقصة وهي تبدأ من سن السابعة وتنتهي ببلوغ سن الرشد وهي ما‬ ‫يطلق عليها مرحلة الصبي املميز ويف هذه املرحلة تكون للشخص أهلية أداء ناقصة‬ ‫مبعنى أن تصرفاته الدائرة بني النفع والضرر تقع قابلة لإلبطال ملصلحته ما ال تلحقها اإلجازة‬ ‫ممن له والية إجرائها عنه أو منه بعد بلوغه سن الرشد ‪ ،‬و اخريا مرحلة بلوغ الشخص إحدى‬ ‫وعشرين سنة ميالدية كاملة فانه يصبح يف هذه املرحلة بالغًا رشيدًا ويكون أهال ملباشرة‬ ‫جميع التصرفات القانونية ‪ ،‬واكتمال أهلية الشخص ببلوغه هذه السن يتم بقوة القانون دون‬ ‫حاجة إىل إصدار قرار بذلك‪.‬‬ ‫واشرتاط أهلية التعاقد يف العقد التقليدي أمر من السهل التحقق منه ألنه تعاقد بني‬ ‫حاضرين يف جملس عقد واحد حقيقي حيث يستطيع كل طرف التأكد من شخصية وأهلية‬ ‫الطرف اآلخر بواسطة االطالع على إثبات شخصيته بالنسبة للشخص الطبيعي واالطالع على‬ ‫السجل التجاري للشخص املعنوي إذا كان شركة أو مؤسسة جتارية ‪.‬‬ ‫أما عن األهلية يف التعاقد اإللكرتوين حيث يتم التعاقد عن بعد فانه قد يصعب على أحد‬ ‫طريف التعاقد التحقق من أهلية املتعاقد اآلخر‪ ،‬وقد يرتتب على هذا االنفصال املكاين بني‬ ‫أطراف املعامالت اإللكرتونية عدم معرفة كافة املعلومات األساسية عن بعضهما‪ ،‬كما أنه‬ ‫من املمكن أن يكون املوقع اإللكرتوين الذي يتعامل معه املتعاقد هو موقع وهمي‪ ،‬فالعقد‬ ‫اإللكرتوين يجب النعقاده صحيحا أن يكون صادرًا عن متعاقدين تتوافر فيهما أهلية التعاقد‪،‬‬ ‫يشرتط القانون لصحة العقد توافر األهلية وسالمة اإلرادة من العيوب ويقصد بعيوب اإلرادة‬ ‫(عيوب الرضاء) هي ما يشوب إرادة الشخص من عيوب فتصبح إرادته غري سليمة حيث أن هذه‬ ‫اإلرادة مل تصدر عن إرادة حرة وخمتارة وعيوب اإلرادة التي نظمها القانون أربعة هي (الغلط‪،‬‬ ‫التدليس‪ ،‬اإلكراه‪ ،‬االستغالل) باإلضافة إىل ذلك هناك عيب الغنب ‪ .‬بيد أن عيب االستغالل ليس‬ ‫له صدى يف جمال العقد اإللكرتوين ويخضع للقواعد العامة وهذا ما سنوضحه يف الفروع‬ ‫اآلتية‬ ‫وكما هو الشأن يف العقد التقليدي يجب أن يكون هناك حمل للعقد اإللكرتوين وان يكون هذا‬ ‫احملل معني أو قابل للتعيني ويكون احملل يف العقد اإللكرتوين املعني عن طريق وصف‬ ‫املنتج أو اخلدمة وصفا مانعا للجهالة على شاشة احلاسب اآليل عرب شبكة االنرتنت ويحق‬ ‫للمشرتي طلب إبطال العقد عند عدم حتقق العلم الكايف للسلعة أو اخلدمة فيجب أن يكون‬ ‫وصف السلعة أو اخلدمة عند إبرام التعاقد اإللكرتوين وصفًا دقيقًا ومفص ًال مما يحقق معه‬ ‫العلم الكايف واجلدي واملوضوعي عن املنتجات واخلدمات‬ ‫ويجب أن يكون حمل العقد اإللكرتوين مشروع وذلك نظرًا لكرثة املواقع التي تستغل يف‬ ‫ممارسة التجارة غري املشروعة كاخملدرات أو السب أو القذف وتشويه سمعة األشخاص‬ ‫وممارسة القمار عرب اإلنرتنت وغسيل األموال وهذه التصرفات تكون باطلة بقوة القانون‬ ‫لكونها مناقضة لآلداب والنظام العام‪.‬‬

GREEN INTERIOR DESIGN

e all hear about Green Interior Design, so what is it about? We all know about interior design – creating a perfect look for our interior space or styling ones space to create a Modern, contemporary, ethnic, traditional or even minimal theme by employing furniture fabrics, accessories & such. Interior design is that discipline of design which deals with the aesthetics I.e. selecting what is beautiful, what is pleasing visually, its functionality so on & so forth.

2. Question if the materials or its components are recycled. & if the product itself is recyclable.

While Green Interior Design, also called Sustainable design, is primarily ethical. It mainly deals with creating a space with makes a negative impact on the environment. Green Design is a great discerner of what is good & what is bad for health of the inhabitants, the environments around us & the energy that supports us. Here the catchword is not beauty or cool or stylish but organic, recyclable, renewable, sustainable & non toxic.

Few of the noted impacts of Green Designs are in the following areas:

We all talk about ways to combating the climate change or the exponentially increasing pollution. Though we are aware it can be achieved through green interior design we proceed to build our homes based on the principles of green design focusing on the structure, architecture and even the energy efficiency but totally neglecting the interior design. Just as important the architecture is, interior also plays a major role, namely selecting the paint, the accessories or even the furniture one needs to consider the impact it has on the environment. We need to determine if the materials are non toxic, whether they are renewable , if they can recycled before we select an interior design element. Because if its done correctly one can contribute to reducing carbon footprints & simultaneously creating a sustainable space. So if you plan on being eco-conscious, ensure the following 1. Question the source of energy to make the product & also the amount of energy required to operate the product. As less energy equals Green Design

3. Question the maintenance process of the product and check if any toxic or environmentally hostile chemicals are utilized. 4. Most importantly, Question if the product pollutes the environment. A Little inconvenient, yet go miles’ in making the world safe & habitable for us. One will be surprised to know that many interesting green products have been discovered due to the “eco-friendly” awareness drive like recycled tire rubber and cork as flooring, counter tops made of highly compressed paper (paper stone) or recycled crushed glass, seashells and mirror compressed in a VOC free resin or engineered concrete and even tile made from the powder of crushed porcelain toilets, tubs or recycled glass.

Energy Conservation Minimizes emission of Carbon dioxide Increases water efficiency Overall well being of the inhabitants. Green Design can not only produce an environmentally sensitive space but also presents an exceptional interior design which results in reduced energy usage, improved quality of life & a healthy space that is warm & welcoming. So now we have an obligation & we all have the opportunity also to make our planet, that we inhabit a safe & sustainable space…………. so wishing you all a safe stay, & promote “GO GREEN”

‫األخضر هو اللون املعرب عن الطبيعة هو اللون املشع الذي نراه بشكل‬ ‫خاص بالنباتات واألشجار هل تعلم ان مصدر اللون األخضر هو الكلوروفيل اليخضور و‬ ‫هو عبارة عن خضاب أخضر يكسب النباتات اللون األخضر كما أنه يقوم بدور أساسي‬ ‫يف عملية التمثيل الضوئي التي تشكل أساس احلياة على األرض و أهمية اليخضور‬ ‫ال تكمن فقط يف إعطاء اللون األخضر للنبتة إمنا أيضا يلعب دورا هاما يف عملية‬ ‫الرتكيب الضوئي ومن ناحية أخري يف علم النفس اللون األخضر غالبًا ما يرمز إىل اخلري‬ ‫واألمل والراحة والسكينة وهذا ما اسمية البندول الطبيعي بعد يوم شاق ما أجمل‬ ‫ان جتلس يف حديقة منزلك او ان حماط بي لون الطبيعة بهدوء وطمأنينة من خالل‬ ‫حلظة تأمل وسكينة وصفاء نقي الطبيعة هي هبة اهلل لنا ‪..‬‬ ‫وقد أظهرت دراسة ان األحياء واملنازل اجلرداء يكون فيها زيادة مبعدل انتشار‬ ‫العنف داخل وخارج املنزل وحالة مزاجية سيئة بعكس األحياء اخلضراء اجلميلة فأن‬ ‫أصحابها أكرث بهجة وطاقة وحيوية وسالم مع النفس وتسامح‬ ‫وذلك من خالل اكتشاف العلماء انه عندما تدخل طاقة الضوء إىل اجلسم فإنها تنبه‬ ‫الغدة النخامية مما يؤدى إىل افراز هرمونات معينة حتدث جمموعة من العمليات‬ ‫الفسيولوجية وبالتاىل تؤدي ايل السيطرة املباشرة على تفكرينا ومزاجنا وسلوكياتنا‬ ‫ونفسياتنا و يل ردة الفعل الحظ نفسك إذا سافرت ايل احد البلدان التي تهتم بالطبيعة‬ ‫وباللون األخضر ماذا تشعر عندها امل تشعر براحه نفسية وراحة ذهنية امل تشعر‬ ‫عندما تري امتداد اللون األخضر براحة يف العيون وكأنك غسلت عينك مبا نقي صايف‬ ‫تذكر شعورك عندما تكون مسافر ايل احد هذي البلدان األنيقة سوف تري ان الراحة‬ ‫ليست متعلقة بشعور وفرحة السفر إمنا لها ارتباط كبري مبا تراه بعينك وبشكل‬ ‫خاص باللون األخضر و ألوان األزهار اخلالبة التي تعكس علي نفسية اإلنسان بشكل‬ ‫غري مسبوق وغالبا ما يجهل بعضنا سبب هذي البهجة وتختلط املشاعر ويكون‬ ‫الظن ان سبب السعادة فقط هو السفر و يف الطب حديثًا أجروا جتارب الستخدام‬ ‫االلوان يف عالج بعض االمراض وذلك بجعل املريض يرتدى ثوبًا من لون معني أو‬ ‫يجلس يف غرفة حوائطها وفرشها من نفس هذا اللون ويقوم برتكيز نظره لفرتة‬ ‫حمددة عليه يف الوقت الذي يحصر فيه ذهنه ويتأمل مكان االمل الذي يعانيه‪ ...‬فكان‬ ‫مما اكتشفوه ان اللون االخضر بالذات يقتل اجلراثيم والبكرتيا ويسكن االالم ويقاوم‬ ‫االنهاك والشعور بالتعب فيشعر صاحبه بأريحية وسعادة ويشفى من االمراض‬ ‫امليكروبية و األشجار تقلل التعرض لألشعة فوق البنفسجية بنحو ‪ 50‬يف املئة‪،‬‬ ‫وبالتايل توفري احلماية لألطفال اثناء اللعب خارج املنزل وايضا األشجار متتص الروائح‬ ‫والغازات امللوثة وتتحمل كمية من الغبار الكبرية سبحان اهلل مل يخلق اهلل شي يف‬ ‫هذه الدنيا عبث وهلل يف خلقه شؤون ‪ .‬لذلك يجب ان نضع بعني االعتبار ضرورة‬ ‫وجود الضوء االخضر يف خارج املنزل ويف داخل املنزل واهميتة و ما يعكسه‬ ‫علي نفسياتنا وسلوكنا ليس من املتوقع ان تكون خبري باألشجار وتنسيق احلدائق‬ ‫من املمكن ان ترسم خطة يف خيالك وان حتققها بنفسك مع بعض املساعدة‬ ‫او تستعني بي مصممني احلدائق واخملتصني وإذا كنت حديث البناء من األفضل ان‬ ‫تخطط يل احلديقة اخلارجية أثناء تصميم املنزل من البداية النه يفتح لك آفاق أخري‬ ‫وخيارات واسعة يل تظهر إبداعات الطبيعة بي أبها منظر تتمناه يل منزلك وأيضًا يجب‬ ‫ان ال نغفل عن حق اجلار يل اجلار وان يكون تنسيقك يل احلديقة معقول وغري مبالغ فيه‬ ‫يل درجة انك حتجب الضوء عن جارك او خالف ذلك احرتاما له و ذوقيا واالهم ان هذا ما‬ ‫أوصي به رسولنا الكرمي علية الصالة والسالم‬ ‫ووجود النباتات داخل املنزل مهم و ضروري الن كل منزل ال يخلو من التلوث وذلك مما‬ ‫نستخدمه داخل منازلنا‪ ،‬مثل غاز الفورمالدهيد الذي يؤثر بصورة كبرية على اجلهاز‬ ‫التنفسي ويسبب نوبات الربو والسعال‪ ،‬ويكون هذا الغاز من دخان السجائر ومن منا‬ ‫ال يستخدم مواد التنظيف او يستغنى عن مواد التنظيف تختلف نسبها علي حسب‬ ‫قوة املنتج ودائما ما نسعي للحصول علي منتج قوي وفعال يل حرصنا علي النظافة‬ ‫اجليدة ولكن بغض النظر عن نسبة قوة املنتج فان بشكل عام مواد التنظيف حتمل‬ ‫كمية تلوث ال يستهان بها تسبب حساسية و تضر باجلهاز التنفسي و ايضا بعض‬ ‫أنواع الطالء الزيتي للجدران‪ ،‬ان دور النباتات الداخلية هو تطهريا هواء املنزل بشكل‬ ‫كبري ‪ .‬كل النباتات تساهم علي احلفاظ على البيئة وهذا كل ما حتتاجه يف حياتك و‬ ‫يل اوالدك ومنزلك‬ ‫البد أن يتحمل كل منا مسئوليته نحو البيئة والبد أن نبدأ بأنفسنا ملاذا ال نوسع آفاقنا‬

Aside from the thoughtful gesture of sending flowers, I thought this bouquet was all the more special as it was beautifully designed and tastefully decorated. I was fortunate enough to meet the owner of this business, Anfal Al-Ansari who is a wonderful talented lady. Balancing her day job as an engineer with her business as a florist, Anfal is truly a remarkable Kuwaiti lady.

When did you begin Lily Fleur? Can you explain to us the concept and how it started? It started tree years ago. I decided to arrange the flowers for a family reception, and everyone said they loved it. I first began with an online store, and after reaching to a big group of audience and I launched a store.

We work with our hired labor, they assist us but we do the bigger bulk of the job. That is because we studied and took courses from different institutes, and it is our intention to use what we have learned in designing arrangements and bouquets.

A: ALGAS Events serves as a speakersâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; house, a talent agency, and an event management company that organize events mainly in entertainment, development and training.

Q: What projects have you worked on recently?

A: We organized a seminar on the 1st of April under the title of 'The Success Principles' by America's #1 success coach Jack Canfield, also known as the originator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series. We also organized 'That Comedy Show vol.3' which is a part of the first stand-up comedy series in Kuwait.

Q: What's the name of the event you're planning for May?

A: A full day seminar on the 19th of May by Dr. David Norton titled 'Successful Strategy Execution'. Dr. Norton was voted as one of the world's 12 most influential management thinkers by Sun Top Media's "Thinkers 50" for 2007.

Q: Do you see that there is success for stand-up comedy here in Kuwait today?

A: Yes. Throughout a year, we have organized 4 stand-up comedy shows in Kuwait, having other companies organize some themselves. We also created the first standup comedy series in Kuwait 'That Comedy Show' and we reached vol.3, and with MadStand Entertainment we collaborated and succeeded to organize Kuwait's largest stand-up comedy show titled 'The Comedy Hangout' which was completely performed in Arabic by 6 regional stand-up comedians with more than 1000 people attending.

Q: What are your future plans for your business?

A:Leading the local market in training and development and entertainment events, which will always give people living in Kuwait something different to do or attend. Also, we are planning on being one of the major talent agencies in the region, where we can also promote Kuwaiti talents overseas.

I am based in Al-Razi Hospital , and work part time in Al-Salam Hospital, Missela building. I am also the program director of the orthopedics residency program, which is part of the Kuwait Institute of Medical Specializations. Where have you studied? I graduated from Faculty of Medicine, Kuwait University. After graduation, I briefly joined the general surgery department of Al-Amiri Hospital. I was granted a spot in the residency program in orthopedic surgery at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. I attained the Royal College of Surgeons in Canada Fellowship after succeeding in the Royal College examination in orthopedic surgery Following the residency, I decided to sub-specialize in spine surgery. I chose that specific specialty due to its delicate nature; also, I was driven by the huge need for well-trained surgeons in that area. I, therefore, completed a -2year fellowship program in that field at McMaster University. I also underwent multiple training courses and attended various workshops to improve on my skills in spine surgery specifically. I then came back to Kuwait, where I joined Al-Razi Hospital staff. My work was inclusive of both in-patient and out-patient services. I also covered the nationwide spine surgery services. What is your academic involvement? I had always been academically oriented. When I first joined back, I was involved in the department of surgery at the Faculty of Medicine of Kuwait University, and helped establishing the newly found curriculum of orthopedic surgery for medical student. I was also one of the founders of

the Orthopedics residency program in Kuwait. The main motivation was the absence of a structured program and the rising difficulties in joining such a program abroad. What services does your clinic offer to patients? In Al-Salam Hospital, I cover all aspects of orthopedics, including the common orthopedic complaints, such as: joints pain, soft tissue pain and fractures. I also address all issues related to the spine, such as; neck and low back pain. The clinic is fully equipped for minor therapeutic procedures, as those required for injections and casting. As I am affiliated to Al-Salam Hospital, all surgical procedures and injections under anesthesia are performed there. When seeing patients, I focus on educating them about their current condition. This is mostly to increase their awareness and perception of their problem. This will also help the patient to adhere to the treatment plan. How do you keep yourself updated? I am a member of various regional and international organizations and associations. Currently, I am the orthopedic education board member at AO Spine Middle East. My job entitles to organize educational events and train spine surgeons in the region and internationally. What are your special interests? In the field of spine surgery, I am interested and specialized in the minimally invasive technique which has remarkably developed over the last few years. These techniques are used mainly for disc removal or fusion procedures. Using a minimally invasive approach, we are able to limit the size of the scar and the procedure complications considerably. Therefore, the length of hospitalization and pain killers requirements are reduced.

Now, let me switch your focus by asking if you could you believe that such a radical concept of transition was first applied to the field of medicine? Yes, it actually was! Dating back to in the mid 19th century, physicians and scientists visualized a world where they would be able to radically regrow body parts at will and treat illnesses before they even appeared. These pioneers dared to think about radical ways in which one day we could be able to treat medical disorders by actually replenishing the damaged and diseased parts of our bodies, and making our bodies, if you will, actual sustainable and renewable resources. The way by which this revolution in the biomedical sciences would be envisioned was Genetic Medicine. Genetic medicine is generally defined as the branch of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of inherited and acquired disorders. This field relies on the expertise of various other medical specialists such as clinicians, genetic counselors, and nutritionists, clinical diagnostic laboratory activities, and researchers that investigate the causes, inheritance and functions of genetic disorders. Scientists envisioned that genetic medicines could facilitate the wide scale implementation of individualized medical diagnostics and therapeutics. Specifically, this new era in medicine was expected to provide innovative methods for the detection, treatment and prevention of incurable diseases; the regeneration of damaged and lost body parts; and the reduction of existing human health vulnerability thresholds. Owing to this, scientists worldwide are now focused on realizing this promise. The scientific and technological advancements brought about by the Human Genome Project (an international scientific collaboration formed to specifically identify and characterize the 20,000â&#x20AC;&#x201C;25,000 genes that make you the human body) have provided us not only with a greater understanding of human biology, but also with a method to identify genetic variations in the setting of various diseases. This fundamental ability to successfully define genotype-phenotype relationships (e.g. the result generated from the expression of a gene that is responsible for providing the pigment of your eye) propelled the subspecialty field of medical genetics as physicians and scientists aim to revolutionize the existing state of human medicine. Even though we earn for this revolution in medicine, there are many existing challenges that must be over before we can simply make a quick trip to the car and human parts store to collect a set of new tires and spare legs.

‫حتتوي معظم األدوية التي تباع للتخسيس علي القويه مواد‬ ‫تقلل الشهية للطعام وكرثة تعاطيها يؤدي إىل اإلدمان (ما‬ ‫عدا دواء زينيكال) ومشاكل صحية أخرى‪ .‬ويف حالة األمراض‬ ‫املزمنة كمرض السكر وارتفاع ضغط الدم قد تسبب أدوية‬ ‫التخسيس مشاكل صحية وآثارا جانبية للبعض‪ .‬من بينها‬ ‫زيادة معدالت ضربات القلب وارتفاع ضغط الدم وزيادة العرق‬ ‫واإلمساك والشعور بالعطش الشديد وجفاف احللق وقلة‬ ‫النوم واإلحساس بالقلق والشعور بالنعاس والصداع‪.‬‬ ‫‪ .1‬أدوية إقالل الشهية ‪ :‬مثل (‪Didrex, Tenuate, Sanorex,‬‬ ‫‪ )Mazanor, Adipex-P and Meridia‬وكذلك دوائي‬ ‫‪ Redux‬و‪ Pondimin‬اللذان سحبا من األسواق عام ‪,1997‬‬ ‫ألنهما يتلفان صمامات القلب‪ .‬كما يوجد دواء ‪sibutramine‬‬ ‫‪ )(Reductil‬الذي يعمل على إرسال إشارات للمخ للتوقف‬ ‫عن األكل والشعور بالشبع بسرعة‪ .‬تعمل أدوية إقالل‬ ‫الشهية على زيادة إفراز كيماويات باملخ كالسريوتونني‬ ‫والكاتكوالمينات التي تؤثر علي الشهية‪ .‬قد تؤثر بعض أدوية‬ ‫إقالل الشهية على احلمل والرضاعة ‪ .‬وعندما يصف الطبيب‬ ‫لك دواء لإلقالل من الوزن البد من سؤاله عن تأثريه على‬ ‫احلمل والرضاعة واحلساسية ‪ .‬والبد من إبالغه عن وجود‬ ‫مرض السكر أوارتفاع ضغط الدم أو مرض القلب أو الكلى‬ ‫أو نوبات الصرع أو الزرق بالعني أو زيادة إفراز الغدة الدرقية‬ ‫أو االكتئاب أو حتى استعمال أدوية الصداع النصفي أو أدوية‬ ‫اإلقالل من الشهية ألنها تسبب النعاس‪ .‬ولذلك مينع قيادة‬ ‫السيارة عند استعمالها‪.‬‬ ‫‪ .2‬أدوية اإلقالل من امتصاص الدهون ‪ :‬كدواء زينيكال الذي‬ ‫يقلل من امتصاص الدهون يف األمعاء بنسبة ‪ .% 30‬وطرد‬ ‫هذه الدهون مع الرباز‪ .‬دواء زينيكال ومرييديا لهما تأثري‬ ‫معتدل على إنقاص الوزن مبعدل ‪ 2‬إىل ‪ 10‬كيلوجرام سنويا‪.‬‬ ‫ومن األعراض اجلانبية لدواء زينيكال إخراج الغازات والشعور‬ ‫باحلاجة السريعة لدخول احلمام وإخراج براز زيتي القوام‬ ‫مع زيادة حركة األمعاء‪ .‬وهذه األعراض مؤقتة لكنها تصبح‬ ‫سيئة مع تناول أطعمة غنية بالدهون‪ .‬وعند تناوله قد يشعر‬ ‫الشخص بآالم أو رعشة أو عدم انتظام ضربات القلب أو آالم‬ ‫يف العادة الشهرية أو تورم يف اجلسم أو القدم أو الكاحل‪,‬‬ ‫ويف هذه احلالة يجب استشارة الطبيب‪.‬أما دواء مرييديا‬ ‫‪ Meridia‬فال يصلح ملن لديه ارتفاع يف ضغط الدم أو‬ ‫اضطراب يف دقات القلب أو من تعرض ألزمة قلبية‪.‬‬

Surgery and healing... Consequently the amount of time that practitioners allow the implant to heal before placing a restoration on it varies widely. In general, practitioners allow 2–6 months for healing When an implant is placed, either a ‹healing abutment›, which comes through the mucosa, is placed or a ‹cover screw› which is flush with the surface of the dental implant is placed. When a cover screw is placed, the mucosa covers the implant while it integrates then a second surgery is completed to place the healing abutment. Two-stage surgery is sometimes chosen when a concurrent bone graft is placed or surgery on the mucosa may be required for aesthetic reasons. The latter is usually important where an implant is placed in the «aesthetic zone». This allows more control over the healing and as a result the predictability of the final result. ‫يف البداية كنت أقوم بتصوير فيديوات خاصة لـ شعيب شو عرب املوبايل وبدرجة نقاوة متواضعة واخراج عادي‬ ‫جدًا‪ ،‬كنت أحتدث عن التوجيه واالرشاد النفسي‪ ،‬وخالل فرتة وجيزة وفقني اهلل بأن قامت احدى الشركات بتبني‬ ‫فكرة الربنامج ورعايته‪ ،‬وهو ما ترك انطباع يف نفسي أن اليوتيوب مكان مهم وله تأثريه‪ ،‬ملا ال يتحول إىل قناة‬ ‫متكاملة من حيث تنوع براجمها ؟‬ ‫وفع ًال‪ ،‬بدأت باقناع حسني عرب بان يشاركني يف تأسيس شركة ورصد رأس مال لتمول انتاج فيديوات‬ ‫منوعة‪ ،‬ووافق حسني وانطلقت القناة وقتها بخمسة برامج وهي شعيب شو وهل كيف شو وفرانكوم شو‬ ‫و»‪ »24FPS Show‬وهااا شو‪ ،‬ثم بدأنا بالبقية‪.‬‬

‫نعم ‪ ،‬أعمل يف «باخملبة» كمدير عام وكعمل أساسي‪ ،‬وال أعمل يف مكان آخر‪ ،‬وحتمًا هناك حتديات كثرية‪،‬‬ ‫من أبرزها هي عدم قدرتنا من التصوير يف كل مكان‪ ،‬وأننا نتعامل مع جيل جديد‪ ،‬جيل اعتاد على ألعاب الفيديو‬ ‫والصور التي حتمل مؤثرات كبرية ونسبة األلوان فيها عالية‪ ،‬فأصبح الفرد يحب اخليال أكرث من الواقع‪ ،‬لذا نحن‬ ‫دائما مطالبني يف أن نعمل على الفيديو الواحد لساعات عديدة حتى يتسنى لنا ان نقدمه بشكل الئق ويعجب‬ ‫املشاهد‪ ،‬وهو يف حقيقة األمر يكلفنا جمهودًا كبريًا‪.‬‬

A young man dedicated to his business and interests, Thamer Al-Thamer’s work is truly exemplary. He works with a wonderful team of young aspiring creative individuals in Helium Group, and has quite a charisma. Here is our little chitchat with Thamer.

Tell us a little bit about yourself. What is the name of the business that you own?

I’m a marketing expert, 25 years old, live shows producer, and writer, I’ve been working in this field for 4 years. Our company is called “Mad Stand Entertainment” a division of Helium Group the mother company that invested in us.

What are the services that your company provides?

Some people thinks that we are an event management company, but we are not. Simply, we are live shows production company, we ONLY produce live shows either live on TV or live on stage.

We have been subcontracting with the biggest TV networks in the Middle East.

In Mad Stand, we have produced 2 main public shows, the first one was at Kuwait University, second one was “The Comedy Hangout” in partnership with Gas Events and Asnan Tower. The most recent work was “The Comedy Hangout” the biggest comedy show in Kuwait. Biggest by audience and the biggest by number of Comedians. The Comedy Hangout had a very unique mixture of comedians, such as Bader Saleh from KSA, Wonhu Chung from Korea, Firas Alola from KSA, Bashar AlJazzaf, Ahmed AlShemmeri, and Aqua are from Kuwait. The audience, we aimed break a new record in producing an Arabic Stand up comedy show and selling out more than 1000+ tickets in Kuwait and we proudly did it with Gas Events.

What’s the name of the event you›re planning for May?

Its called the 3rd Comedy. Produced solely by Mad Stand Entertainment but powered by Helium Group, the most interesting part of the next event not only the amazing comedians but the stage itself we are implementing a very cool interactive technologies on stage to make a full live scene for the audience. Do you see that there is success for stand up comedy here in Kuwait today?

Live shows, have been successful from thousands of years back then and Stand-up comedy is a just a form of Live Shows. And Yes its getting popular and we are seeking new talents to join us with our next shows, if anyone thinks he can perform not only comedy, but any special talent on stage, all you have to do is reaching us.

What are your future plans for your business?

As any business, we would consider an expansion, so we singed a strategic partnership with 2 companies in UAE, one in Dubai and the other one in Abu Dhabi to produce an international shows in the coming few years, with more audience and more flexibility.

What projects have you worked on recently?

The Taste of Spain H T W in the Heart of E A D NASM

Kuwait City

How many of you is in love with Spanish food? I’m sure many of us tried the delicious food that the cuisine of Spain offers, and I’m sure many have their own favorites, but not many know that they can have a delicious Spanish meal here in Kuwait. Did you know that? Go to Bubo’s. Located near Kuwait’s Sheraton Hotel, Bubo is currently the only Spanish restaurant in Kuwait. The restaurant boasts an impressive collection of tapas, which are bite-size appetizers usually served with drinks in the beginning of meals or in between meals to curb the hunger pangs. I started with some patata braves, chunky potatoes fried and served with an aromatic rosemary dip. I also tried the ceps croquette, which is dough stuffed with black mushroom and cheese. Of course there’s also the chicken croquette which I really liked. They also served beef and chicken skewers, which are marinated really well and come with three dipping sauces. I mostly loved the yogurt and mint dip. The most delicious tapas I tried were the micro pizza, which consist of rich puff pastry dough topped with goat cheese hand a raspberry compote. Now to the main course: the highlight of my visit was the beef caldereta, a wellseasoned beef stew made with delicious vegetables cooked to perfection. It was so good! Of course the paella there is quite different -- while it uses the authentic Spanish seasoning, it is not prepared the traditional way where meat, chicken and seafood are mixed together with the rice. Instead, you can get a beef paella, a chicken paella, a seafood paella, or a vegetable paella. Of course you can get the traditional paella here as well. but for those who are very picky there is the option of having the paella with their favorite main protein’ as they say. Of course I opted for the seafood paella, and the chef was generous enough to teach me how it was prepared. He kind of let me make the paella myself in their lovely kitchen. Lovely kitchen by the way, seriously well-organized and neat, I loved it. Please tell us a little bit about My Passion. What is My Passion, when did it start and what does it sell?

My Passion is a small business project that specializes in fusion cakes and desserts. It started as a home business a little more than a year ago on 13th of January 2012, and as a serious hoppy much longer before that. I first began with three different kinds of sweets, which were very successful. However, for quality assurance we took the decision to put all our focus in this stage on our most famous and much beloved cake: the Browkie. The Browkie is a fusion between a brownie and a cookie.

What makes your desserts so special in My Passion? I believe that preparing my sweets at home with care and love, using fresh ingredients and attention to beautiful presentation are what make my desserts special.

Do you plan to open a store one day? Upon many encouragements and requests from my loyal customers and family, I’m currently working on opening my first store this year. But, only after making sure that the high quality of my products and attention to details won’t be affected in the process. Have you participated in any exhibitions before? Yes, I have participated in an exhibition held by the College of Medicine, which gave me good exposure to the market. Also, I’m looking to participate in some specialized or distinctive exhibitions this year. Tell us a little bit about yourself. What is your name and age, career and background? My name is Noor al-Rabia. I’m the founder and owner of My Passion. It’s my full time career and passion :) What is your advice to people who are starting their own careers? Although I’m still beginning to learn my career, I can humbly advice anyone thinking of starting his or her own career to depend on Allah and shake any fear of fulfilling their dreams. Shawshank Redemption’s Garlic & Onion Braised Lamb Shank

Ingredients: 4 lamb shanks salt and pepper to taste 2 tbsp olive oil 2 onions, chopped 10 cloves garlic, whole 3 cups chicken broth 2 tsp chopped fresh thyme 1 tbsp cumin powder 1 tbsp coriander 2 cups red grape juice

Preparation: • Sprinkle the lamb shanks with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Sear the lamb shanks until brown on all sides, more or less 10 minutes. Put it on a plate. • Add onions and garlic to pot and sauté until caramelized, about 20 minutes. Stir in grape juice, tomatoes, chicken broth. Season with cumin and coriander. Return the lamb shanks to pot, pressing down to submerge. Bring to a boil for ½ hour. ‫عــالقـة الـمرأة بـــالــشــوكــوال‬ ‫تعترب الشوكوال من اهتمامات املرأة العصرية حيث اليخلو درج مكتب أي امرأة من الشوكوال‪ ،‬شأنها‬ ‫شأن زجاجة العطر‪ ،‬ومع هذا العشق الكبري للشوكوال وقعت املرأة يف حرية بني اخصائيي التغذية واحلمية‬ ‫واألطباء بشكل عام‪ ،‬حيث يوصي خرباء التغذية ومعدو أنظمة الرجيم االبتعاد عن تناول الشوكوال أو التقليل‬ ‫منها‪ ،‬يف الوقت نفسه يوصي األطباء العامني بتناولها لكرثة فائدتها خصوصًا للسيدات‪ ،‬حيث أن النساء‬ ‫اللواتي يتناولن الشوكوالته بشكل مستمر يتمتعن بحياة عاطفية أفضل من اللواتي ال يحبذونها‪ ،‬علمًا بأن‬ ‫للشوكوال منافع بيولوجية أيضًا كونها تفيد صحة القلب و سالمته و تعزز قدرته على ضخ الدم‪ ،‬وحتتوي أيضًا‬ ‫على الكافيني والنيوبرومني اللذان يزيدان نشاط الناقالت العصبية‪ ،‬وأيضًا حترص املرأة على تناول زوجها‬ ‫من الشوكوالته لتحسني مزاجه السيء و زيادة شعوره بالراحة مما يجعله متفهمًا وحنونًا وحريصًا على‬ ‫أن تكون العالقة أكرث عاطفية‪ ،‬لذلك اقتنع بعض اخصائني التغذية بفوائد الشوكوال حيث قامو بادخالها إىل‬ ‫غذاء سيئًا ولكن االفراط يف تناولها هو اخلطأ‪ .‬ومن جانب آخر أكد‬ ‫الرجيم ألن الشوكوال بحد ذاتها ليست‬ ‫ً‬ ‫علماء جامعة يال األمريكية أن استهالك الشوكوال أثناء فرتة احلمل قد يقي النساء من مضاعفات احلمل‬ ‫مثل تسمم احلمل‪ ،‬وكذلك أظهرت دراسة فنلندية نشرت مؤخرًا أن تناول الشوكوالته أثناء احلمل قد‬ ‫يساعد يف إجناب أطفال أكرث سعادة ونشاط وحيوية‪ ،‬فقد وجد أيضًا الباحثون يف جامعة هلسينكي بعد‬ ‫متابعة مستويات التوتر وعادات تناول الشوكوال عند ‪ ٣٠٠‬سيدة قبل الوالدة وبعد الوالدة‪ ،‬اتضح أن السيدات‬ ‫الالتي تناولن الشوكوال يوميًا أثناء فرتة احلمل أجننب أطفا ًال أكرث صحة وسعادة‪ ،‬وقال هؤالء الباحثون أن‬ ‫تناول الشوكوال أثناء احلمل يؤثر باإليجاب على سلوكيات األطفال‬ ‫وذلك بسبب الكيماويات الطبيعية املوجودة فيها املسؤولة عن حتسن املزاج واإلحساس باحليوية‬ ‫والسعادة‪ ،‬لذلك فإن املرأة تعشق الشوكوال وتقدر الرجل الذي يهدي إليها علبة شوكوال برومانسية‬ ‫فتعتربها هي الهدية األبرز يف حياتها‪.‬‬

Shaymaa Al-Ruwaished The Kuwaiti Girl Who Impressed UKs Prime Minister

When we first established theCITY Magazine, one of the main goals we had is to shed light on local talents -you can actually say we wanted to boast a little, show off the great talents of our youth. We truly believe in Kuwaitâ&#x20AC;şs achievers, and one person who proved us right is Shaymaa Al-Ruwaished. This ambitious girl climbed the ladder and reached international recognition, receiving a thank-you note from the prime minster of the UK David Cameron himself. We stumbled upon her in London and had a quick chitchat with her.

When did your passion for makeup begin? I think I was 11 at the time. That›s when I knew I wanted to let makeup play a role in my future. It›s funny actually, I started by doing makeup for my classmates in school for plays and theater productions in my school. As I grew up, I started to do makeup to friends and family, and it was with their encouragement that I began to have more faith in this skill. I worked for a short time in a makeup studio here in Kuwait but in 2006 I had to leave to the United States with my husband who was pursuing his studies abroad. What steps did you take to enrich your skills? The first thing I did when I went to the United States is take a language course for a year. I knew that I wanted to study makeup professionally and take courses, but I had to improve my English. So I went to Georgia State University in 2009 for a whole year. After we moved to the UK, I joined a makeup academy in the UK and received my diploma from there in 2012. Do you plan to open a business when you›re back in Kuwait? Yes, of course. I would love to do that. Tell us a little bit about the London Olympics. One of my instructors recommended me. He encouraged me to apply, and I did that through Brushstroke Makeup School. There were many makeup artists from around the world who also applied. I was lucky and I passed the two tests. I worked from May to the end of August for five days a week, at least eight hours each day. Despite all the hard work and the time it took me to finish this. I learned quite a lot from that experience. It really helped me and I›m very proud to be the first Kuwaiti makeup artist to participate in such an international event. I received a plaque and a letter signed by the prime minister of the UK David Cameron thanking me for my efforts. It was the best moment in my career life. What would you say makes your makeup special? I believe that my experience in international institute is what makes me stand out. I was trained by professional makeup artists and instructors in some of the best schools in the UK. and that I think is quite a good credential. What are your future plans? I have so many plans! As soon as I come back to Kuwait, I plan to start educating people in Kuwait about the techniques I learned. There are basics that are many times overlooked, and I believe I can help people in honing their skills and assist them in knowing what styles suit their features and styles don›t. I have other plans that I will talk about when the time is right. Who would you like to thank? I would like to thank my dear husband for continuously supporting me and helping me pursue my dreams. I also want to thank my mother who was always there pushing me towards achieving my ambitions. I would also like to thank the team of theCITY Magazine for their continuous efforts in shedding light on achievements of Kuwaiti youth, and I›m glad to be chosen as an example of Kuwaiti talent that achieved international recognition.

‫متى بدأ اهتمامك باملكياج؟‬ ‫منذ طفولتي يف سن احلادية عشر كنت مغرمة يف فن املكياج والرسم ولكن كانت بداية‬ ‫إهتمامي احلقيقي يف ممارسة فن املكياج وفن الرسم عندما كنت يف السادسة عشر‬ ‫من عمري‪ .‬وإستطعت اإلستمرار يف اإلهتمام بهاتني املوهبتني عن طريق املشاركة يف‬ ‫مسابقات الرسم يف متثيل املدارس يف املراحل التعليمية اخملتلفة‪ ،‬ووضع املكياج‬ ‫لبعض األصدقاء واألقرباء‪ .‬ورغم إنشغايل يف التحصيل العلمي ملرحلة مابعد الثانوية إال أنني‬ ‫متكنت من اإلستمرار مبمارسة هواية املكياج‪ .‬وبعد التحصيل العلمي عملت لفرتة وجيزة‬ ‫يف أحد املراكز التجميلة يف الكويت ولكنني إضطررت ملغادرة الكويت والتوجه للواليات‬ ‫املتحدة األمريكية مع زوجي لهدف إكمال دراسته العليا منذ عام ‪.2006‬‬

‫للتحضري إلفتتاح وختام أولبياد لندن‪ .‬بدأنا بالتحضري والتدريب لهذه املناسبة من شهر مايو‬ ‫حتى نهاية األوملبياد يف أغسطس من عام ‪ 2012‬ملدة التقل عن ثمان ساعات عمل يوميا‬ ‫وملدة خمسة أيام يف األسبوع‪ .‬ورغم اجلهد الكبري والوقت الطويل الذي إستغرق مني على‬ ‫حساب أسرتي إال أنني تعلمت وإستفدت كثريا من هذه التجربة سواء بإتصايل مع أشهر‬ ‫خرباء التجميل حول العامل أو معرفة طريقة تصميم ووضع املكياج ملثل هذه املناسبات‬ ‫الكبرية‪ .‬كما كنت فخورة جدا بأنني أول خبرية جتميل كويتية تكون ضمن فريق عمل خرباء‬ ‫التجميل لواحدة من أهم املناسبات العاملية‪ .‬وزاد فخري أكرث عندما حصلت على درع تذكاري‬ ‫وشهادات تقر بذلك‪ .‬كما تفاجأت وإفتخرت أكرث عندما مت إرسال رسالة ثناء وشكر بإسمي‬ ‫شخصيا موقعة من قبل رئيس الوزراء الربيطاين ديفيد كامريون ‪ David Cameron‬يشيد‬ ‫يف اجلهد املبذول التي قدمته لهذه املناسبة‪.‬‬

‫ما هي اخلطوات التي اتخذتيها لتطوير مهاراتك؟‬ ‫إتخذت خطوات مهمة لتطوير موهبتي يف جمال املكياج فاغتنمت فرصة تواجدي مع‬ ‫أسرتي يف الواليات املتحدة األمريكية وبريطانيا وإنضممت إىل مركز تعليم اللغة اإلجنليزية يف‬ ‫جامعة جورجيا ستيت ‪ Georgia State University‬يف عام ‪ 2009‬وملدة عاما دراسيا‪ ،‬ألمتكن‬ ‫من تعلم اللغة اإلجنليزية حتى أستطيع بعد ذلك اإللتحاق بأحد املدارس األكادميية لفن‬ ‫املكياج لهدف تطوير مهارتي يف هذا اجملال‪ .‬وإستطعت اإلنضمام إىل أحد أشهر وأفضل‬ ‫املدارس األكادميية الربيطانية يف علم املكياج وتصفيف الشعر للمسرح والتلفزيون‬ ‫واملوضة بأنواعها اخملتلفة‪ ،‬وتتلمذت على أيدي خرباء عامليني يف بريطانيا وحصلت على‬ ‫الشهادة يف عام ‪ .2012‬مما أهلني وفتح يل اجملال للعمل ملدة عامني يف بريطانيا مع‬ ‫أشهر املصورين وخرباء التجميل ومصففي الشعر ومصممي األزياء األوربيني والعامليني‪.‬‬

‫ما الذي مييز شيماء الرويشد عن غريها يف هذا اجملال؟‬ ‫ما مييزين عن غريي من خبريات التجميل يف الكويت هو أنني أملك خربة عاملية ملدة عامني‬ ‫قبل احمللية لكوين أول خبرية جتميل كويتية حصلت على شهادة تدريب إحرتافية من بريطانيا‬ ‫لفرتة طويلة تقارب سنة دراسية كاملة‪ .‬مما أهلني أن أكون مصممة مكياج ‪Make-up‬‬ ‫‪ .Designer‬لذلك سيكون يل خطي اخلاص يف هذا اجملال‪ .‬ورغم أنني يف بداية مشواري إال‬ ‫أنني إستطعت من خالل هذه التجربة أن أدمج بني الهواية والعلم واملعرفة واخلربة جميعا‪.‬‬ ‫كما لدي أعمال كثرية قمت بها مع أشهر العارضات العامليات يف العاصمة لندن والتي‬ ‫تعترب مركزا رائدا يف فنون املوضة واألزياء واملكياج‪.‬‬

‫هل تنوين افتتاح مركز جتميل يف الكويت؟‬ ‫بالطبع لدي نية يف فتح مركز جتميل عند عودتي لبلدي احلبيب الكويت‪.‬‬ ‫أخربينا عن مشاركتك يف أوملبياد لندن‬ ‫بدأت فكرة اخلوض يف املشاركة يف أوملبياد لندن عندما رشحني أحد أساتذتي الذي‬ ‫درسني يف األكادميية التي كنت أدرس فيها وشجعني للتقدمي ملهارتي يف املكياج‪.‬‬ ‫فقدمت طلب التطوع يف املشاركة يف هذه املناسبة عن طريق مدرسة ‪،Brushstroke‬‬ ‫وكان هناك العديد من خرباء التجميل من خمتلف العامل يودون املشاركة يف هذا احلفل‬ ‫ألهميته‪ .‬فخضعت أنا وجميع املتقدمني من خرباء التجميل إلختبارين والذي عن طريقهما‬ ‫تقيم جلنة التحكيم من خرباء املكياج العامليني القبول من عدمه‪ .‬وقد وفقت وهلل احلمد‬ ‫بإجتياز اإلختبارين ومت إختياري مع قرابة ثالثون اخرون من اخلرباء للعمل كفريق املكياج‬

‫ما هي خطط شيماء املستقبلية؟‬ ‫لدي تطلعات كثرية وأفكار جديدة تعلمتها خالل عملي يف اخلارج لتطبيقها على أرض الواقع‬ ‫فور عودتي للكويت‪ .‬أهمها حماولة تثقيف وتدريب املهتمني يف جمال املكياج عن طريق‬ ‫الرتكيز على اجلانب النظري العلمي واملهاري معا لفن املكياج‪ ،‬حتى يكون وضع املكياج‬ ‫بطرق أساسية علمية وليست عشوائية‪ ،‬مما سيسهل على املرأة إختيار طريقة وضع‬ ‫املكياج واأللوان التي تناسبها‪ .‬كما لدي تطلعات وخطط كثرية سأعلن عنها يف الوقت‬ ‫املناسب‪.‬‬ ‫كلمة شكر توجهينها ملن؟‬ ‫يف البداية أود أن أشكر زوجي العزيز الذي ساهم يف دعمي وتشجيعي لتطوير موهبتي يف‬ ‫فن املكياج‪ .‬كما أود أن أشكر أمي الغالية التي ساهمت أيضا يف دعمي يف جوانب خمتلفة‬ ‫لتحقيق طموحي‪ .‬ويف اخلتام اليسعني سوى شكر جملة ‪ The City Magazine‬على هذا‬ ‫اللقاء وتسليطها الضوء على ما حققته على املستوى الشخصي وعلى مستوى العاملي‬ ‫لبلدي احلبيب الكويت‪ ،‬وأمتنى لكم التوفيق‪.‬‬

Tell us a little about yourself My name is Zainab Al-Mousawi, I am 16-years-old, making me, I believe, the youngest makeup artist in Kuwait. How did your passion for makeup begin? It started about two years ago: I started playing around with makeup a lot, it ended up catching a lot of my friends attention- I was known to always have the best makeup on. How did this passion begin as a business? My friends started asking me to do their makeup for special occasions like weddings and parties. So I kept on practicing on them, receiving great feedback. A few of them suggested I started doing it as a business so I took that suggestion and I have been doing this for a few months now. I’m only taking appointments in the weekends at the moment, though in the summer when I’m free from exams, I’ll start full time. What do you plan to study in the future? My ambition is to become a nutritionist, however I still want to continue my passion as a side business. I also believe this major will benefit me as I can advise my clients since healthy skin provides a clear canvas which is the key to perfecting makeup. What is your favorite make up brand? Well, it depends on the product. For eye shadows, I love Urban Decay, for lipsticks: MAC, for face powders: Benefit. Mascaras: Lancome and Dior.

Anything you would like to tell our readers. Taking a makeup course doesn’t determine whether you are ready to be a makeup artist or not- at the end of the day practice makes perfect. The more you practice, the better you get, also nowadays we have a lot of self-learning tools like youtube videos and blogs that make it easier to improve and learn new techniques.

Do you work by requests or do you have your own image of makeup? First, before starting, I study their face shape and ask about their skin type, I would try to work around their requests but adapt a little to suit the client›s face. Personally, I prefer to accentuate the client›s face by bringing out their best features, rather than wiping them off and drawing them in again.

‫يوم البحار وذكرياته اجلميله للحني يف بايل واحنا صغار‬ ‫كنا نروح ونستكشف األلعاب الكويتيه القدميه والسكيك‬ ‫(الطرقات) اللي ما عشنا فيها بس اجدادنا عاشوها ‪ ،‬شي‬ ‫حلو ملا تشوف بعينك حياتهم قبل خصوصا اذا كنت تسمع‬ ‫حزاوي (قصص) الكبار عن األحداث اللي صارت يف املاضي‪.‬‬ ‫الدكاكني اللي من طني والقهاوي اللي كانو يتجمعون فيها‬ ‫األباء واألجداد ‪ ,‬ونسمة البحر اللي تهف عليهم حتى لو كانو‬ ‫يف داخل البيت كله ممكن تعيشه يف قرية البحار ‪.‬‬ ‫شي حلو ملا نتمسك باملاضي وجنسده بطريقه مصغره‬ ‫على هيئة قرية عشان أبنائنا والعامل كله يشوف الكويت‬ ‫شنو كان ماضيها وشنو صار حاظرها احلني ‪.‬‬ ‫طبعا قرية يوم البحار يف السابق اول ما افتتحوها كانت‬ ‫اكرب من احلني وماكانت مرصفه لكن احلني وبعد التجديد‬ ‫صغروها شوي وحطو األرضيات كلها طابوق عشان تكون‬ ‫ارتب وانظف للزوار ‪ ،‬ميكن صح بس بالنسبه يل كنت احبها‬ ‫قبل ملا كانت األرضيه كلها تراب ألنها اقرب للواقع القدمي‬ ‫من احلني ‪.‬‬ ‫الدكاكني اللي موجوده يف القريه متنوعه منها احلواج دكان‬ ‫النعل النجديه دكان التحف والعطور ومكتبه قدميه بس‬ ‫لألسف ما حالفنا احلظ نصورها ألنها كانت مسكره ‪ ،‬بس‬ ‫الدكان اللي لفت نظري وشدين وايد دكان السيد كامل القالف‬ ‫وطبعا القالليف معروفني يف الكويت انهم من الناس اللي‬ ‫تبني السفن الكويتيه القدميه ‪ ،‬قعدنا مع السيد كامل‬ ‫وسولف لنا عن قصص جده يف بناء السفن وشلون اهو‬ ‫تعلم هاملهنه من ابوه وورثها ومازال ميارسها بس على‬ ‫سفن صغريه (جمسمات) تنباع للزوار والسياح ‪ ،‬بوم صغري‬ ‫مايتعدا طوله نص مرت ياخذ من وقته شهر واكرث تقريبا ‪،‬‬ ‫انبهرت يف صرب الكويتيني ودقتهم وفنهم شلون ملا كانو‬ ‫يبنون بوم كبري وشكرث كان ياخذ من وقتهم وتعبهم ‪.‬‬ ‫دكان الباجيال والنخي والقهوه كان من األشياء املميزه يف‬ ‫قرية يوم البحار خصوصا انها كانت مرتفعه شوي يعني‬ ‫نسمة الهوا حلوه عليها ‪ ،‬تقعد تشرب شاي وتطالع عيالك‬ ‫واهم يلعبون يف األلعاب جدامك ‪ ،‬األلعاب القدميه مثل‬ ‫القليلبه والدوارف والزحالقيه ‪ ،‬ترى هذي اساميهم القدميه‬ ‫‪.‬‬ ‫على اطراف القريه من الداخل كانت موزعه قعدات قدميه‬ ‫ومسقفه بالعريش ‪ ،‬والعريش اهو عباره عن اوراق النخل‬ ‫حميوكه مع بعض وتكون شي مثل الذرا فوق يحميك من‬ ‫الشمس يعني مظله كويتيه قدميه‪.‬‬ ‫وانت طالع من القرية الزم تلفت نظرك قهوة (جبلة) قهوه‬ ‫قدميه كانو يقعدون فيها الرجال قبل واللي مييز هالقهوه‬ ‫انها قدميا كانت جدام مرسى السفن يعني جتمع الكويتيني‬ ‫األساسي ‪ ،‬وكان من اكرث روادها الطواويش (بياعني اللولو)‬ ‫على حسب ما يقال ‪.‬‬ ‫حلو ملا منرها من فرته يل فرته عشان نكسر روتني احلياه‬ ‫العصريه وضغوطاتها ‪ ،‬كانا دخلنا آالت الزمن ورجعنا ‪.‬‬

‫‪/٨‬هل واجهتك مصاعب يف هذا اجملال ؟ وكيف‬ ‫استطعت التغلب عليها؟‬ ‫بداية أي مشروع تكون صعبة لقلة اخلربه ولكن مع الوقت‬ ‫وادراك السوق جيدا يصبح بامكانك التغلب على كل املصاعب‬ ‫فهذا يعتمد على مدى اصرارك وطموحك للوصول لالحالم ‪،‬‬ ‫فحلمي منذ الصغر هو ان يكون لدي بوتيك مالبس رسمت‬ ‫شكله مبخيلتي وظل يراودين اىل ان حتقق احلمدهلل ‪.‬‬

‫أنا االن سعيدة مبا حققته و اطمح لتحقيق املزيد إنشاء اهلل‬ ‫يف املستقبل وكما قال املثل االجنليزي " ‪Do what u love‬‬ ‫‪." & love what u do‬‬

TALENT theCITY came across the beautiful photography of Lateefah Madouh on Instagram. We contacted her to find out more about this talented Kuwaiti girl whose passion for kids photography is something to watch. Lateefah is a 20-year old mass communication student at Kuwait University. Her interest in mass communication led her to sign up for Watan Academy, a specialized institute that offers training courses and internship programs for students in Watan Media Network. This young woman’s interest in the field of photography won her quite a few prizes, including the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Prize for Creativity, a state-sponsored event that looks for local talent. She now has her own business, Story In A Studio. We asked her about why she chose kids as the center in all her photos and she said: “I believe that kids have this innocence that is worth capturing on camera. I hope to be able to direct a movie one day in which kids are the actors. They’re very innocent and not pretentious like adults, something about the way they act and behave is just very adorable to watch and capture.” She started at the age of 10, photographing everyone at family gatherings and outings. Later on, at the age of 17, she decided to take this hobby to a new level; she signed up to some courses and bought books about photography and started to learn more.

Aloha readers! So recently we have been apart of the exposition that took place on March called Proud to be Kuwaiti aka “P2BK”. It was held for 2 weeks, but due to school we were only able to stay for a week. Anyways the whole experience was wonderful; it was our third year to participate in P2BK, and just like the previous years we were thrilled to be a part of it! This year was more stressful then any other year, just because we were busy with school and trying to arrange time to design clothes, and of course to come up with different ideas to decorate our booth. But thankfully we were able to finish about 40 pieces within a month! Even though we didn’t have much time we were able to accomplish the mission!! The best part of the whole experience and being apart of P2BK was getting to meet new people, and to learn about upcoming small businesses… It’s a bless to be raised in such a supportive community that gives young adults the chance to show the world what they are capable of doing. We are very thankful for P2BK for believing in us and giving us the chance to share with the world our work! The 2013 The Ferrari California is a sporty, aggressively styled two-plustwo convertible. The California is also Ferrari’s most affordable and approachable model, designed to marry the brand’s legendary performance with daily-driver comfort and utility. At 490 horsepower and available with an upgraded suspension package, there’s still plenty of gallop in this Prancing Horse The California made its retail debut in 2008, at the time available with a 460-horsepower 4.3-liter V-8 engine and a sevenspeed dual-clutch transmission. The California represented the first use of a number of technologies for Ferrari, including the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, direct injection, a multi-link rear suspension, and, of course, the folding metal hardtop roof The California carried forward from its 2008 arrival to 2012 largely unchanged. In the spring of 2012, Ferrari added the designation «30» to the California’s name, indicating the 30 extra horsepower and 30 kilograms (66 pounds) lighter weight included in the updated California 30. The weight savings comes by way of more aluminum in the car’s construction, while the extra power is enabled by revised exhaust manifolds and computer tuning. and a very clever new reed valve in the lower crankcase) and stiffer chassis, the California is no limp-wristed relative to the 458 and FF. Though Ferrari admits the California is still aimed at a less chest-thumping audience, this is a proper supercar: flattening the 0- 100 km/h sprint in 3.8secs on its way to a 313 km/h top speed, whanging up through the gears like a foldy-roofed banshee, cornering with face-restyling force. Maybe it’s those four new flavours of alloy (the old car had just eight; the new one, a whopping 12) that shave 30kg off the California’s kerbweight, maybe it’s the revised springs and dampers. Either way, we drove the California in a Niagaraspec downpour on the worst mountain roads around Maranello - crap tarmac, great pools of standing water, potholes, gravel - and it was sublime: beautifully balanced in even the slipperiest corners, allowing you to find the limit of grip (with 483bhp on a slick-wet road, this does not take long) but gently coaxing you back from the void with its delicate traction control. No, it’s not as needle-pointed as the 458, but just as entertaining in its own way. Looking forward, the California is due to be replaced for the 2015 model year, with the new car featuring a similar shape but a more powerful, and possibly turbocharged, engine.

New Generation 2014 Land Rover has officially revealed the all-new 2014 Range Rover Sport that replaces the current first generation that lasted with us almost 10 years. It has a design right in between its larger sibling Range Rover and the smaller Evoque. The front more resembles the classic Range Rover, while the rear and roof look similar but larger to the Evoque.

The new Range Rover Sport now has an aluminium architecture, which achieves a weight saving of up to 420kg. The platform is 39% lighter than the previous model. It is just 62mm longer than its predecessor and the longer wheelbase (increased by 178mm) provides greater room and improved access for rear passengers. Customers can now choose between different wheel sizes including 19-, 20-, 21- and 22-inches in diameter including the iconic “Viper’s Nest” wheel design, now available for the first time across all Range Rover models. At launch, the all-new Range Rover Sport customers will have a choice of four engines – two supercharged petrol engines (5.0-litre 510 hp V8 and the new 3.0-litre 340 hp V6) and two diesel engines (3.0-litre 258 hp TDV6 and 292 hp SDV6). So, the big change is that the HSE trim no longer has a V8 engine but a supercharged V6. The powertrain line-up will be expanded later in this year by the addition of a high performance 4.4-litre 339 hp SDV8 diesel version. In addition, an innovative, high-efficiency diesel Hybrid model will be available to order later this year for delivery in 2014. All models across the range are fitted with an advanced intelligent Stop/Start system that improves fuel consumption by up to 7%. All petrol and diesel engines in the new Range Rover Sport are paired with an electronically controlled ZF 8HP70 8-speed automatic gearbox. The new 2014 Range Rover Sport as an all-new interior design as wll with more understated luxury features and materials. It has a smaller diameter, thicker steering wheel, a vertical gear shifter, higher center console, configurable mood lighting and more generous seat bolsters. New, neatly integrated third row, occasional 5+2 seating can be specified as wll for the first time. These powered seats leave a flat floor with no loss of boot space and are split 50/50.

Also, a high bandwidth Wi-Fi Hotspot can be installed in the vehicle so that passengers can now use the Internet and get the best data connection for their smartphones or tablets. A new, optional colour Head-Up Display presents key vehicle and navigation data without the driver needing to look away from the road, using laser technology for superior clarity and contrast. The new model also introduces a digital camera system which supports three driver assistance features that help deliver improved driver awareness: Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition and Automatic High Beam Assist. Another unique innovation on the Sport is the new Wade Sensing feature that provides ‘depth’ information when driving through water, made even more beneficial to the driver now that the Sport’s maximum wading depth has increased by 150mm over the previous model to 850mm. The previous Range Rover Sport was a success to Land Rover selling more than 380,000 units since its introduction back in 2005. This new 2014 Range Rover Sport will go on sale during the third quarter of 2013 in 169 markets worldwide. Most markets will offer customers a choice of four equipment levels (S, SE, HSE and Autobiography), plus new ‘Dynamic’ versions of the HSE and Autobiography. In Kuwait, we think the HSE and the Autobiography will be offered only, and possibly the Dynamic versions of both HSE and Autobiography.

PwC announces winners of PIN² Challenge

Sponsored by Zain, NBK and Ali Abdulwahab Al Mutawa Commercial, PwC’s 6 month PIN² Challenge concludes in Kuwait

PwC, the world’s leading professional services firm, announced today (27th March) the winners of the PIN2 Challenge at an awards ceremony held at the Chamber of Commerce. The PIN2 Challenge is a business plan competition driven by PwC and sponsored by Zain, National Bank of Kuwait (NBK), Ali Abdulwahab Al Mutawa Commercial Co., Wharton Club of the Middle East, and 4 Films Printing Group Company. Over a period of three days, participating teams presented great ideas and well developed business plans to a panel of judges comprised of five senior executives from the sponsoring organizations. The PIN² Challenge kick-started in October 2012 targeting high school students in Kuwait and inviting them to develop plans that address issues of sustainability, technology, design and governance with mentorship from the sponsoring organizations. Over the course of six months, the PIN² Challenge attracted 13 teams, comprised of 100 students from the American International School, Al Bayan Bilingual School, New English School, and Universal American School. The top three winners of the PIN² Challenge are as follows: 1- The Global Youth Initiative team was awarded first place for its Youth Community and Sports Center (YCSC). The idea of the project is to set up a youth community and sports center. The proposed center is intended to give teenagers an afterschool outlet where they can spend their time engaged in various social, athletic and communal activities. 2- The Little Entrepreneurs team was awarded second place for its Recycle Kuwait business idea. The idea of the project is to set up a business that will produce basic accessories and furniture items from recycled and reused materials. The project’s business model is founded upon raising awareness about reusing and recycling materials and reaching out to the community for their supply of materials. The team intends on sourcing materials from consumers and turning them into creatively iconic household items. 3- The AAT Corporation team was awarded third place for its Green It business idea. The idea of the project is to set up a consultancy firm that will focus on helping hospitals, schools and the owners of buildings become green and energy efficient. The focus is on ensuring these buildings implement energy efficient technologies and designs that will allow them to become LEED certified. On this occasion, Fouad Douglas, Country Senior Partner of PwC Kuwait office and the Chair Judge of the competition said, “The students demonstrated strong entrepreneurial mindsets and tackled key business issues analytically and creatively. It was impressive to see that most teams addressed the issue of sustainability directly and had a strong understanding of the main business challenges of today and tomorrows world. “At PwC, we encourage our own talent to grow, develop and lead their own projects; either when catering to clients or seeing-through a corporate social responsibility initiative like this one. Through this initiative we hope to continue building future leaders with an entrepreneurial spirit to excel in their professional lives.” Fouad Douglas added “The PIN² Challenge has been great experience for students, sponsors, and PwC alike. Landmark Group organizes its 6th annual Blood donation campaign In line with its year-round corporate responsibility strategy Landmark Group, the largest value retail shopping chain in Kuwait recently conducted its sixth annual blood donation campaign. Held in association with Kuwait Central Blood Bank (KCBB), the campaign took place at Al Bahar Center and was attended by 130 plus employees of the company who voluntarily took part in the noble initiative.
